Pastel Fabric Book

I've finished another book, this one is all fabric and all hand stitched. I have used mainly pastel colours, hence the name.
Dyed, painted and stamped fabrics with dyed laces. I've made straps from the lace and they fasten with buttons. Button trim bottom and top as well. Experimental book binding, i.e. make it up as I go along.

The back of the book

I will show the inner pages another day, I didn't like the photos as there was something distracting in the background.

TAST 70,72 Embroidery

Take a stitch Tuesday 70 - crested chain stitch.
I've used some vintage gingham and dyed laces. Attached to the vintage suspender is a scrap of yellow vintage fabric and lace attached with a French knot. The patch of gingham is attached with running stitch and there are more French knots on the yellow trim.
I didn't do tast 71 this time but I have done it before, see here

Take a stitch Tuesday 72 - wrapped coral stitch.
I was having a spot of bother with this to start with, I kept putting the thread the wrong way round. I've disguised it with French knots [with long stalks] in the yellow thread. Vintage fabric and dyed laces.

This one was not for tast but for the pastel book. The background fabric is handpainted/stamped. Four different dyed laces with running stitches on the narrow yellow lace in two colours. French knots. The buttons were created with art work and clear buttons.

TAST 62

Take a stitch Tuesday 62 - Raised Cross Stitch Flower.
A new stitch for me. I did the flowers in cotton perle first and thought it needed something else and I remembered I had some silk ribbons. When I found the ribbon I also found various lilac threads and one of them was like a chenille, so I used that instead. Some of the flowers look quite square-ish rather than round but I suppose real flowers are not all perfect either. I've also done a chain stitch stalk, some pink fly stitch [I thought afterwards that this was the wrong colour pink but I left in anyway] and stitch on some tiny square sequins. The background fabrics are hand painted and stamped, the lace is hand painted and stitched on - backstitch and little sequins.

TAST 58, Painted Fabrics

Take a Stitch Tuesday - week 58 - I'm a bit behind, this stitch is from a few weeks ago. The stitch is woven detached chain stitch and my sample includes back stitch and beads. Click on the image to enlarge.
The background is fabric I had painted and stamped on using mainly hand made stamps and roller stamps. I did a few other fabrics and lace too, they are for a new book of pastel colours [some are bright pastel?!]
