Coffee Can Turned Tower of Babel

We had several coffee can donated to us....So, we decided to make a TOWER OF BABEL Building Set.

We did this for the 2 year old to 4 year old class.  They were easy peasy to make.  We simply wrapped each can with Stone Pattern Bulletin Board Boarder Paper and Taped it on with CLEAR Packing Tape.  We used Silver Sharpie Paint Pens to color the Red part of the can.

As I said, easy peasy!!!  The KIDDOS will LOVE Building the Tower of Babel...and who knows, if we get enough maybe they can use them as the Walls Of Jericho.

Remember, Before Throwing ANYTHING away....ASK, "Can I possibly use this some way to teach a Bible Lesson."

Free Visuals are WONDERFUL!

Diaper Wipe Lids turned PUSH BUTTON BIBLE GAME!!!

Kiddos LOVE to push buttons, they love to explore and they love playing "GAMES." So, when you can put ALL THREE of those LOVES together it make for GREAT LEARNING and a BIT of FUN!!   What makes this REVIEW GAME even better is that it is made from donated diaper wipe lids, scraps of laminate, scratch colored paper and a $1.00 Foam Core Board, I found on clearance and Hobby Lobby...because, it has a small flaw.

NOW, to explain my logic (or lack thereof) regarding collecting items.  As most of you know I LOVE to turn TRASH into a TREASURE.    So, to facilitate this TRASH to TREASURE obsession I have, I accept the STRANGEST items as donations.  I even have a DONATION STATION near the door of my Bible Classroom.    I have found that if you let people know you are looking for items, they begin showing up by the bagfuls, so it helps to have a designated PLACE for people to place their TRASH, I mean TREASURES!!!

As you can see in the picture above, I have a LOT of Diaper Wipe Lids!!!  So, that got me to thinking.  I also, had SCRAPS of laminate leftover from cutting our items I had laminated.   I wanted the "GAME" to be reusable/changeable so....This is what I decided to do....

I glued the scraps of laminate over the hole on the back of the Diaper Wipe Lid.  Super fast if you use a cool melt hot glue gun.   This helps to make a "pocket" to slide the question behind....I hope this is making sense.

Then I hot glued the lids to the foam core board. Making sure to just glue the bottom and two sides to the board...that way I can slide a question in behind the lid.

When the KIDDOS get a "turn" they answer the question...and then press the "button" to see if they are correct.

The lid will POP up and reveal the answer.  I chose to write the questions with permanent marker, but  you could choose to use PICTURES to show the answers...especially for very young KIDDOS.  Such as if the question was, "What did the Israelites worship, when Moses was on Sinai?"  You could use a picture of a Golden Calf.

I laminated all my QUESTION cards...this makes them "erasable" with hairspray.  That way, I can change out the questions and the game will be ALL NEW again.

I have played this Review Game with the KIDDOS a few times...and each time they LOVE it!!!  There is just something about getting to PUSH a BUTTON that the KIDDOS LOVE!!!

I enjoy turning TRASH into TREASURES.  I guarantee you, if you stop and ask, "HOW CAN I USE THIS IN BIBLE CLASS?"  You will find all sorts of NEW ways to use items.

Challenge yourself to think about Bible Class before tossing out items.

Milk Caps Books of The Bible Memorizing

I am THRILLED to say that we have completed collecting our Books of The Bible Milk Caps.  This was a loooong activity.  Since there are 66 books in the Bible we have been working on collecting our milk caps for over a year!!

The KIDDOS have WORKED really hard and have had fun "earning" their MILK CAPS.  They earned a NEW Milk Cap by MEMORIZING their BOOKS of the BIBLE.

I love that each Milk Cap set is unique...Notice that we made sure that each "division" of the Bible is separated by color.    LAW, HISTORY, POETRY, MAJOR PROPHETS, MINOR PROPHETS,  GOSPELS, HISTORY, PAUL'S EPISTLES, GENERAL EPISTLES, PROPHECY.  It helped the KIDDOS to get them in the correct order.

As a SPECIAL gift, for memorizing all 66 Books of the Bible, I gave each of my KIDDOS a special pen.    I ordered these from Oriental Trading.  (I am not associated with Oriental Trading nor do I get any revenue by mentioning Oriental Trading.) I simply mention them as a way to help my readers find supplies for their Bible Class.  I thought these would be a perfect gift!!  They were really excited that they were PENS!!!

This was a very FUN way to MEMORIZE the Books of The Bible!!  This past Sunday the KIDDOS poured all their Milk Caps out and put them in order!!!  I was so impressed!!!

Memory Verse Tracker

I try to come up with fun and exciting ways to TRACK the KIDDOS Memory Verses.

Well, this is what I decided to do this quarter.

The KIDDOS will be earning a CRAFT STICK each week...by having their Memory Verse Memorized!!!

The containers were donated to our classroom. They are similar to crystal light containers--but, they are a different brand.    I think they might be Great Value brand.

The CRAFT STICK fit PERFECTLY inside these containers!!!  I was soooo excited.

The lids are a great way of keeping the KIDDOS MEMORY VERSE STICKS contained!!

I wanted the KIDDOS to be able to keep these close to them...so, I used a hole punch and punched a hole in the containers and they are hanging on the back of the KIDDOS chairs.   The hooks are COMMAND HOOKS...no permanent damage.  :-)

To JAZZ up the Memory Verse Trackers the KIDDOS will be adding GLITTERING, PUFFY STAR STICKERS.   I thought the STARS went along with the LESSONS about Abraham.  :-)

Ready for class...OUR newest MEMORY VERSE is on display and the KIDDOS Memory Verse Sticks are sitting right in front of the display....  I am sure they will have the Memory Verse Memorized by next Sunday...they were SINGING it OVER and OVER and OVER again.  :-)

I love turning free/cheap items into useful Bible Class Materials.

Bible Facts Review Stick!! Days of Creation

We are WORKING on BASIC BIBLE FACTS. We have a once a month class called "ROCK"  for our KIDDOS.  "ROCK" stands for InRiching Our Children's Knowledge.  During the ROCK class the KIDDOS have the opportunity to say their memory verses, tell what they have been doing in their class, share their answers to the weekly Bible Detective Question, and review BASIC BIBLE Facts. With that being said, several of us teachers have decided to BUILD our KIDDOS BASIC BIBLE FACTS Knowledge.  So, we began brainstorming about some FUN ways to excite the KIDDOS  to memorize their Basic Bible Facts.

Our first set of BASIC BIBLE FACTS assigned were the DAYS of CREATION.  So, I decided to make a FUN review stick for the KIDDOS.

I have a bunch of these screw on caps....I save them from milk cartons, juice cartons, cream cartons, etc.   I thought they would be PERFECT for my idea.

I coded each cap with a circle picture to represent each Day of Creation.   I then hot glued the threaded "neck" of the cap assembly to the paint paddles.  I added a numbered DOT sticker to the inside of each of the cap assembly pieces.

The KIDDOS will have to screw each lid onto the CORRECT number....for example:  The lid that had the LIGHT (yellow circle inside a black circle) will be screwed onto the neck with the number 1 sticker inside it.

The KIDDOS did this activity recently and LOVED it!!!!!  They can't WAIT to be able to take them home and SHARE them with their families!!!!!

As soon as they can tell me the events of each Day of Creation they will be allowed to add a Pennant Link to their Toucan.  I'll share more about their Toucan tomorrow.

Blessings,

Ronda

Tower of Babel

We have had a few "bumps" on our Exploring of Bible History. I have been out of town, been sick, got well, fell sick again. Kinda a rough few weeks. But, we are MOVING forward. This Sunday the KIDDOS will be learning about the Tower of Babel.    Our DO YOU KNOW? Wall is ready!!  Since, I like to focus on the Who? What? When? Where? (Geographically) Where? (in the Bible) Why? and How is this important to me? with all my lessons...I find it very helpful to have the cards up and ready before I teach the lesson.

This is the card we will add to our GOD'S AWESOME PLAN FOR MAN timeline.

The KIDDOS will have a new song to go with this lesson.  "The Tower of Babel" by Ronda Duvall

If you would like to hear this song click on the following link.  It will open the Facebook page for Hands On Bible Teacher.

I wanted a VISUAL  that would WOW the KIDDOS and make this lesson memorable.   So, I decided to build a "TOWER of BABEL."

Because, I seem to keep items that others throw in the trash, I had all these cardboard packing pieces.  I was THRILLED with the way they stacked up and made a TOWER!!

I wanted the PLAIN of SHINAR to have a 3D feel...so, after drawing the basic design on the foam board I went to work with STREAMERS, SAND PAPER, EASTER GRASS, and CONSTRUCTION PAPER.    I am REALLY happy with how it all came together.

I used my PEG PEOPLE (they were formally clothes pins)....I added my toy PALM TREES and a wooden sign that has "Plain of Shinar" written on it....I KNOW the KIDDOS will be EXCITED as soon as they see this sitting on the TABLE!!

Our MEMORY VERSE is Colossians 4:6. I thought this would be an applicable verse for this lesson.

If you would like to hear the memory verse song click the following link.  It will open the Facebook Page for Hands On Bible Teacher.

Memory Verse Colossians 4:6

The KIDDOS will have an opportunity to build their OWN Tower out of these FOAM CUBES.  I will try to remember to take pictures of their TOWERS and share them.  (I borrowed these from the TODDLERS Classroom.   They do a bucket system of teaching in that classroom...so, since they are not currently on the Tower Of Babel they graciously loaned them to me for Sunday!!)

The KIDDOS will be making a POP UP Tower of Babel for their TAKE HOME project.

The KIDDOS will add the background and the PEOPLE.  The KIDDOS will use the mini SMILEY FACES stickers for their people.

Our REVIEW GAME is very simple one....the KIDDOS will get to BUILD a TOWER of BABEL by answering questions from the lesson.   As added fun, they will get to KNOCK the TOWER down with bean bags.....OF COURSE they have to answer a question from the lesson for an opportunity to toss the bean bag.

Next Week is our REVIEW WEEK.  The KIDDOS will be making these to add to their EXPLORER JOURNAL.   We will see if they can get the TOWER into the correct order.  I used velcro to make this an activity that the KIDDOS can do over and over again.

I am excited to teach this lesson.

Blessings,

Ronda
