Life of Christ.... The Beatitudes

The KIDDOS are enjoying the continued Exploration of The Life of JESUS CHRIST!

Our Exploring has brought us to the Sermon on The Mount...In this lesson we are Exploring the Beatitudes.

With that being said, I used this LESSON as an opportunity to teach the KIDDOS the BEATITUDES.  These are one of our BADGES for Memorizing Bible Facts. To see the  Bible Badges the KIDDOS are working hard to earn...click on the link.

We added NEW CARDS to our DO You Know? Wall.  My Expectation is for the KIDDOS to be able to answer each of these by the end of the lesson.

For a VISUAL AID, I used  these little finger puppets, I purchased at Hobby Lobby.  I used paperclips to make them "stand up" on their own.  Notice the "multitude" gathered around to hear JESUS Teach!!

I also hung a picture from a Visual Story Set I had purchased at Dollar Tree several years back.  I have not seen them back...If I ever find them again, I will make sure to let everyone know.

I used both of these visuals while teaching the lesson.  It was nice to have a picture hanging on the easel and an interactive visual too!!

I also used this "OLD" VISUAL to help the KIDDOS MEMORIZE the Beatitudes.  I bought this visual a while back...I laminated and coded it with the Beatitudes, using a Sharpie marker....If and when I need to erase them,  I can use hairspray to remove the Sharpie Marker.

We had several  words to add to our WORD WALL.

These words are important for the KIDDOS to know and understand for this lesson to make sense to them.

This is our  SONG  to for this lesson.  We did make various hand motions while singing this song...it helped the KIDDOS visualize the meaning behind each Beatitude.

Example:  Blessed are those that MOURN...(pretend to cry) for they shall be comforted. (hug self)

Our MEMORY VERSE  was Matthew 5:12

The KIDDOS still had a Memory Verse to learn with this lesson, along with Learning the Beatitudes.  They always amaze me, with their abilities to memorize!!!

To hear the MEMORY VERSE song click on this link.  Memory Verse Song for Matthew 5:12

The Kiddo's made "Beatitude Bees" as their   TAKE HOME project.  These BEES were made from CARDSTOCK and a tissue paper tube.  The tubes were pre-wrapped  the KIDDOS added the HEAD and WINGS.  We used glue dots to make the craft easy for the KIDDOS to assemble.

I think they turned out cute and the KIDDOS loved "buzzing" their Beatitude Bee around!!

The  REVIEW GAME for this lesson.  It  is match game.  I call it "BEATITUDE  BEEHIVE  Match  Up."     The   KIDDOS enjoyed   getting to  clip  the   little   BEES  onto  the correct BEEHIVE.

We played this  game, by having the KIDDOS answer a question  from  the  LESSON  and  then pinning the BEE  onto  the CORRECT  BEEHIVE.      This  way  the KIDDOS were challenged  by  knowing the lesson and the  game  helped  with  the  MEMORIZATION  of  the Beatitude.

As you recall, the second week of the LESSON is when we REVIEW.  It gives me opportunity to correct any misunderstandings.  It  also, gives opportunities for the KIDDOS who missed class the first week to "CATCH UP."  This is the Week we SAY our MEMORY VERSE from MEMORY and We do an ACTIVITY we add to our EXPLORER JOURNAL.

For this weeks EXPLORER JOURNAL Activity, I used the BEE theme...this was a type of PUZZLE...the kiddos glued on each piece of the BEATITUDES onto the BEE.....I LOVE the 3D Wings.  This will get added to their EXPLORER JOURNALS for safe KEEPING.

Seven Ones of Ephesians 4

Recently my KIDDOS were working hard to earn their Bible Badge for knowing the Seven Ones of Ephesians 4:4-6. To see our   Bible Badges Display Board just click on the link.

When memorizing these important Bible Facts, I like to help my KIDDOS by coming up with a song and an 3D visual aid.

I purchased all the Paper Mache Numbers at Hobby Lobby.  I waited for them to go on sale at 50% off.  I had originally thought I would be buying WOOD numbers....but, when I found these I was excited!!!  They are light weight and it was easy to glue the pictures to them.

After the KIDDOS earned their BADGE, we added these to our Bible Bucket Reviews...this becomes an Early Arriver Activity.  (EAA)  This allows independent review time!!  I love it when the KIDDOS pick up a Bible Bucket Review and PRACTICE reciting FACTS they already had memorizing.

I am thrilled to say ALL my KIDDOS memorized the Seven Ones of Ephesians 4!!!  Keep in mind, I teach PK-1st Graders.  That means they are 4 1/2 years old to 7 years old!   It always amazes me HOW much these KIDDOS can memorize and retain!!  They work hard, practice, recite, repeat, and then we REVIEW!!!  Just because, they earned a BADGE, does not mean we wont go back over the information from time to time!!

I believe in making learning Bible Facts "fun" and "exciting."  Kiddos can MEMORIZE so much if we just give them the opportunity to do so!!!

Ronda

Memorizing Psalms 23 Pre K- 1st Graders

As you are aware, I love to work with the KIDDOS on Memorizing Bible Facts.  Our KIDDOS have the opportunity to earn "Bible Badges" by memorizing IMPORTANT BIBLE FACTS!! You can view our  Bible Badges    via the link provided.  This is an ever growing process, as we seem to be adding more and more "things" for the KIDDOS to earn Bible Badges for knowing.

One of the Bible Badges the KIDDOS can earn is the PSALM 23 Bible Badge....They earn this by being able to recite the entire chapter of PSALM 23.  All six verses!!  This may seem like a daunting task....but, this has been a very fun and easy way to help the KIDDOS learn the 23 PSALM.

The idea of the bracelet came from a friend of mine.  I did modify it for my age group. Remember,  the age group I teach ranges from 4 1/2 year old to 1st graders.

Each bead represents a PART of the 23 PSALM.  I had the KIDDOS use chenille sticks for the KIDDOS to "sting" their beads on....to make an easy bracelet.  As, we strung each bead we pointed out how each bead was a reminder of a PART of the 23 PSALM.

After completing the bracelets on chenille sticks...I found these "bracelets" at Michael's Craft Store.   I like the bracelet as it is easy to put on and take off....However, we did place hot glue under the  last bead...so, when the KIDDOS remove their bracelet from their wrist the beads would not just fall off the bracelet.

Here is a video of how we use the beads to teach the 23 Psalm.

To go along with the bracelets the KIDDOS made...we did an OVERSIZED bracelet for the classroom.  I used a small hulahoop and made the "beads" from cardstock.  I laminated the cardstock and then formed them into tubes and used strapping tape to hold them together.  The KIDDOS LOVE this!!!    I let the KIDDOS draw out "beads" from the bucket until they have all been removed from the bucket.  Then we begin reciting the 23 PSALM....each KIDDO adds their "bead" as we get to the portion of the PSALM that the "bead" represents.  THIS WAS SO MUCH FUN!!!!  It will make it easy to review as a class and as an independent EAA (Early Arrivers Activity)!!!

I introduced the 23 PSALM by reading this book to my KIDDOS.  I made the book to go along with the BEADS.  Please view the video.

I wanted each of my KIDDOS to have a copy of the 23 PSALM Color Code Book....so, I made each of them a small one to take home with them.

We have enjoyed working on memorizing and learning the meaning of the 23 PSALM.  I am truly pleased with how these activities have helped my KIDDOS memorize the 23 PSALM!!!  Each of the KIDDOS will get their Bible Badge tomorrow morning during class!!!

Blessings,

Ronda
