Well, dog-gone it!

We've "gone to the dogs" this week with the Joy's Life design team.
My husband and I are deliberating whether or not to add another dog to our house, so this card seems most appropriate right now:

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out this fun card, found in the Silhouette store here, and the Joy's Life Stamp set, Punny Animals. There are so dog-gone many cute sentiments included with this set!

I also used papers from Echo Park's "Walk in the Park" 12x12 collection.  It somehow seemed appropriate for a dog card, don't you think? The bling on the eye is from Close To My Heart.
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope it's a dog-gone good one for you.

A winner for Friends With Flair!

Happy Friday, everyone! And a long weekend for those of us in the U.S.  Yea!  Craft on!  I hope to spend at least some of my extra day off with ink on my fingers.  Can't wait!
I had some blog candy to give away on my blog last weekend, and I decided to save the winner until today, since this is the post with the most readers all week.  I used random.org to select the winner from comments on the Joy's Life blog hop post.  Comment #26, Sue D, said, "This turned out amazing!!".  Sue D, I have your email address, so I will be in touch!
Now, onto today's card, using the Unity stamp set, Gossip, Hot-Flashes & Crazy.  I'm at that stage in life where this card in real life hits a little close to home, but that's why it's so fun:

Yeah, I'm afraid so.  You gotta admit.  It's pretty cute, though, hunh?
Enjoy your weekend!

It's Been Fun! With Sweet Stamps

Greetings, all my crafty friends.  August is fast coming to a close, which means my month of guest designing for Sweet Stamps is ending.  I have enjoyed it very much!  I have one final card on the Sweet Stamps blog today. This week's challenge is a birthday challenge.  Everyone needs a supply of birthday cards, so make one and enter the challenge!  I used several Sweet Stamps on this card, including my favorite butterflies.  Here's what I made:

I used one of the Artsy Fartsy stamps (AF4), "French Calligraphy" to create the background layer on this card, my favorite "Fanciful Butterflies" set (S600), and "Fancy Birthday Stacked" (9099D) for the Sweet Stamps images. The doily is also from the Sweet Stamps store. It is a Cheery Lynn die, Eastern Star (DL230).  It cuts beautifully!  Designer papers are My Mind's Eye The Sweetest Thing Bluebell 6x6. The ribbon is from 3 Girl JAM and the stick pins are by Close To My Heart.  I made the butterflies by heat embossing with clear embossing powder on Outdoor Denim card stock, then mixing various Perfect Pearls colors with water and painting it on.  The embossed areas resist the paint mixture.  I love the effect. The card is on a CTMH Outdoor Denim card stock base. I think this would be an enjoyable birthday card to receive, how about you?

Fun card folds with a Birthday Theme -- it's gotta be good hopping with the Joy's Life Team!

If you're looking for my Pinque Peacock post, please click HERE.
It's a great hop going on with the Joy's Life team!  By now, you've seen many different card folds and creative ways to  use them.  Isn't this team something?  Since I'm the last person on the hop, I won't bore you with the whole hop order.  If you happened to stumble across my blog, and would like to participate in the whole thing, start here, at Joy's Life blog.
As soon as I heard the theme for this hop, I knew exactly what I wanted to attempt.  I just wasn't sure how it would work out.  I had seen this idea at the My Scrap Chick store. I just needed to see if I could make it work. So, I got out my Silhouette Cameo, some papers, and went to work:

This is a butterfly easel card.  I used most the layers available in the cut files.  It folds flat for mailing.

And, a close up of the Joy's Life stamped image:

This image comes from the "My Hero" stamp set, found in the Joy's Life Store.  It's a great set -- one of my favorites.

The designer papers are from MME Stella & Rose (6x6 pad).  Bling is all Close To My Heart.

What's a blog hop without blog candy?  I happen to have some to give away!  It includes a 6x6 pad of paper, some Dazzle stickers, rub ons, ribbon, and  a stamp set.  To be eligible, please follow my blog and leave a comment on this post. Now, head on back to Joy's blog, and tell her what a fantastic design team she has! Tell her your favorite project along the hop!

Pretty as a Peacock

If you're looking for the Joy's Life blog hop, please click HERE!
Greetings, my blog friends, and happy Saturday.

I have my first official post as a Pinque Pinquette today, and I couldn't be more excited! I love Pinque Peacock products (say that three times fast!) so it's a joy to design for the company.
For my first project, I thought it would be fun to use a peacock.  Here's a real beauty, strutting his stuff.

The beautiful beaded stick pins can be found in the Pinque Peacock store HERE.  The peacock stamp and sentiment are from Raisin Boat stamps. I colored the peacock with Copic markers. The set is called, appropriately, "Pretty Bird." Designer papers are a 6x6 pad by SEI. The easel card design is from MyScrapChick.com.
Here's close up of the beaded stick pins and the 3 Girl JAM harvest bundle ribbon (this is harvest orange):

I have blog candy to give away! To be eligible to win, leave a comment on this post and follow my blog.  To increase your chances, you can also comment on yesterday's Friends With Flair post and today's Joy's Life post.  Good luck!

Giraffe and Butterflies for FWF

Whoop! So glad it's Friday!
The nursing home where I work is celebrating 50 years of serving the community today.  We're having this huge picnic and open house.  We've been planning it for months now, with most of the planning/ordering/decorating falling on my shoulders.  I'll be VERY glad when this day is over.  I love big events once they are underway, but I get nervous preparing for them, wondering what I've forgotten to do.
Remember last week, when I was at the Copic classes? Well, I learned a lot!  I thought I should have a card today using Copics.  This is actually one I colored before I took the class, but I still like how it turned out.  It uses a Unity/Phyllis Harris stamp, Big Time Special.

I just love this stamp. It makes me smile!  I used MME "The Sweetest Thing" papers, and of course, Copic markers.

Last week, I shared a card with a butterfly on it.  Well, when I made that butterfly, I made several just like it. Here's a card using another one of the butterflies, made into a sympathy card for a co-worker who lost her sister-in-law.

This card uses Unity Stamp Co's/Donna Downey Bold Butterfly stamp and "With Sympathy".  I used Close To My Heart sky card stock for the base and True Blue Stickles for the butterfly trail and on the small stamped butterfly.

I have some blog candy to give away this weekend, in honor of the Joy's Life hop I'm participating in tomorrow.  To be eligible to win, please follow my blog and leave a comment on this post.  To increase your chances, come back tomorrow and comment on my Joy's Life hop post and/or my Pinque Peacock post.  Thanks!
Have a great weekend everyone!

I'm entering these cards in the following challenges:

Three Favorites for Your Next Stamp

Your Next Stamp is having a DT call!  And I'm excited! Some of my friends on Cropchocolate.com first got me interested in YNS.  But, I was hooked when a gal posted an adorable card using this stamp set:

And, what's so special about this stamp? Well, YNS designed it just for her.  She asked for a stamp that made a young boy look "spiffy cool", not nerdy.  And they did it.  I thought right then, "I'd love to work for a company like that."  So, here I am, submitting three of my favorite cards, and applying for their new digital design team.  Wish me luck!

This first card uses a Penny Black stamp and Echo Park Dots & Stripes papers.  I colored it with Copic Markers.

This second card, using a Sparkle Creations image and sentiment, is also colored with Copic markers.  It uses Amy Tangerine Sketchbook 6x6 papers, and 3 Girl JAM Cherry Lipstick ribbon.  I sponged Tim Holtz distress ink (Spun Sugar) on the image while it was still in the Spellbinders Gold die.

And, I'm showcasing this third card for 2 reasons. First, it uses a digi stamp.  I want to show that yes, I can work with digis.  I use them often in my work.  Second, I really, really like how this card turned out.  It uses Fancy Pants Park Bench 12x12 paper, American Crafts glitter paper (I think -- I've had it forever), a digi from Sassy Studio Designs for the image and Unity Stamps for the sentiment.  Three Girl JAM ribbon and a Pinque Peacock stick pin finish off the card.  The sassy image is colored with Copic markers.

I'm keeping my fingers crosses and saying a little prayer that Your Next Stamps likes my work.

Welcome Baby -- for Cameo Creations Challenges

My friend, Monica, over at Cameo Creations Challenges, just had a baby.  In honor of the big event, the challenge the next two weeks is all about babies.  Make anything with a baby theme and come link up with us!
We seem to have many pregnant women at the nursing home where I work.  I know they all need money for the basics -- like diapers.  With that in mind, when buying gifts for moms-to-be, I tend to lean towards gift certificates. I created a couple of gift boxes sized to fit a gift certificate perfectly.  They were, of course, cut out on my Silhouette Cameo.

I used some two sided card stock from Echo Park, where one side was dark teal, and the other side was lemon yellow.  I used these two cut files from the Silhouette store: teddy favor box and onsie favor box.  I added some Stickles in True Blue and Yellow, and my boxes were ready to go!
Come join us at the Cameo Creations Challenge blog!

All Decked Out for School

Hello, crafty friends.  I have a post on the 3 Girl JAM blog today.  the 3 Girl JAM challenge blog has a School themed challenge happening right now, so I decided to get in the spirit of things and alter a notebook that any kid would love to take to school. I started with a basic notebook, on sale, 5 for $1.00 (whoot!) and took it from there:

I used ribbon and flair buttons from the 3 Girl JAM store.  Ribbons are from the Celebrations bundle (Tuxedo Black), the Harvest Bundle (Sunflower), and the Winter Bundle (Holly Berry).  The flair buttons are a sneak peak and will be available shortly in the store, along with some other fun ones you WON'T want to miss!
Designer papers are My Mind's Eye 'On the Sunny Side' 12x12. The hopscotch game and printables are from The Cutting Café and can be found HERE.  I used stamps from Fancy Pants, "The Good Life", and Close To My Heart ( a retired set) to make the bicycle with borders and apple with borders pieces.
Here's a close up of one of the new, fun flair buttons available soon:

Create your own "back to school" project, and link up over at the 3 Girl JAM challenge blog. I'd love to see what you make!

Anything Goes -- at Sweet Stamps

I am having so much fun with my guest designing for Sweet Stamps this month. The month is going WAY too fast!
A new challenge started yesterday over on the Sweet Stamps blog, and it's the always popular theme of "Anything Goes".
When I was given the opportunity to guest design for Sweet Stamps, I was also given the chance to pick out some stamps to design with.  The first one I chose was this dashing young lady, Margery (Margery 527).  She's a beauty, and I HAD to color her!

Isn't she fun? I paired her with some old fashioned looking papers I picked up from Hobby Lobby, added a nostalgic sentiment, also found in the Sweet Stamps store, "Old Fashioned Wish" (9065E). Both images were lightly sponged with Tim Holtz distress ink in worn paper to further the 'aged' look.  Some Close To My Heart ribbon, a stick pin created for me by a friend, a Bazzill card base, and voila, the card is complete! I hope you fall in love with Margery!

BUGS! For Get Inky! Stamps

A new challenge starts today on the Get Inky! Challenge blog.  The theme can be anything -- as long as it includes a bug.
I've been working with Perfect Pearls lately, so decided to continue with that line of thinking, and used one of the newer Get Inky! Stamps releases, Love Bug.

I find that the Perfect Pearls show up best on darker color card stock.  This is Close To My Heart outdoor denim.  All the butterflies and bugs, along with the sentiment are from the Love Bug set -- it's a real cutie!  I stamped using Versamark ink, then brushed various colors of Perfect Pearls on the bugs where I wanted the color to be. I made sure to leave room for the sentiment, then used the same technique on that.  All the leftover powder can be dusted off with a larger brush.
I mounted the outdoor denim card stock to a piece of textured white c.s., and that is adhered to a crystal blue card base. Hope you like my "buggy" creation!

A Bouquet of Good Wishes

Hello, blog friends.  I'm guest designing again today on the Sweet Stamps blog.  Their monthly challenge started this week, and the theme is masking.  I worked on several different masking techniques before I came up with one that I liked.  I love daisies, so used them on this card:

I used the Sweet Stamp, "Daisy Bunch" (3033H) for the masking technique.  The sentiment is Sweet Stamp #9126C, 'A Bouquet of Good Wishes'.  After masking and stamping the daisy image several times, I colored them with watercolor pencils.  I fussy cut several images and used foam tape to elevate them .  The card was cut out on the Silhouette. I used papers from Simple Stories, and ribbon from 3Girl JAM.  Come join the Sweet Stamps Challenge with your own masking challenge!

It's a SWEET! Post for Joy's Life design team!

Hello, and Happy Saturday, my friends.  I'm scheduling this post ahead of time because I'm taking a couple Copic certification courses yesterday and today. Yeah! Sooo excited! I'm going to learn so much!
The theme this week on the Joy's Life design team blog is "Sweet!" -- certainly a theme many of us can get excited about!
I made this shaped card:

I cut out this canning jar pattern on my Silhouette, used the super cute Joy's Life set, "That Tastes Punny".

The jar shaped file is by My Scrap Chick, and can be found HERE. I used Fancy Pants Summer's End 6x6 papers on this card, with Close To My Heart cocoa cardstock used for the base. Enjoy!

FWF - and a Copic Class!

Hurray! It's Friday! And a very special Friday at that! Back in July, for my birthday, my husband paid to send me to the Copic basic certification class and the Copic intermediate certification class in Minneapolis, MN.  Those classes are today and tomorrow.  Yes! I'm so excited! Yesterday, I drove 2 1/2 hours to get to the hotel/conference center where the classes will be held.  I'm camped out and ready! Let the fun begin!
And, speaking of fun, I have a card to share with you today that was a lot of fun to make!
Last Sunday, we got together with my in-laws at a restaurant, and they picked up the tab.  I figured the least I could do was make them a pretty card.  So, Monday, after work, I whipped together this little pretty for them:

I used the Unity set, "Butterfly Beauty" on this.  It was one of the first Unity sets I ever bought, in the old brown boxes.  I love the 4 butterflies in this set.  They all emboss beautifully, and that's what I did with this one.  I heat embossed on black cardstock using clear detail embossing powder. Then, I mixed Perfect Pearls and water together in four different colors, and painted them on the butterfly.  The areas that were heat embossed resist the color, and this is the result.  Neat, huh?  I added the sentiment (a CTMH retired set), and some Close To My Heart bling, and voila, the thank you card was complete and ready to go. Well, it was after I rounded 2 corners and wrote a message inside.
Now it's time to practice my Copic coloring skills.  Sooo stoked for this!!!  Have a great weekend everyone!

Everybody likes BLING!

I'm guest designing again today at Sweet Stamps blog. The challenge theme this week is 'bling'.  Yeah.  I LIKE this theme! I had a great time designing a card and blinging it up!

I used my new favorite, "go-to" butterfly stamp set on this card. It is the Sweet Stamps set, "Fanciful Butterflies" (S600).  There are 4 separate butterflies in this set, and they are beautiful. The sentiment is Sweet Stamps set #9099, "Fancy Birthday 2-line". I used My Mind's Eye Indie Chic:Nutmeg paper on this card, found in the Sweet Stamps store.  I used a Lifestyle Crafts doily die, some 3 Girl Jam ribbon, and bling from my stash.
I stamped the butterflies in 2 different shades of Close To My Heart blue ink (Indian Corn Blue, Crystal Blue) then used CTMH Crème Brulee, Crystal Blue, and Indian Corn Blue inks and a water pen to give them more color. The sentiment is stamped in CTMH cocoa ink.

And, after that long intro, it is time for my Spooktacular projects!  I have two of them for you -- both cards.
I'll start with my not-so-spooky ghost card.  I made it using my Silhouette Cameo.

The stamped ghost, the witches hat, and the sentiment are all from the new Get Inky! Stamps 2013 Halloween Spooktacular Stamp Set. Aren't you just loving all the fun images and sentiments included in this set?
The file I used for this card, from the Silhouette online store, can be found here.  The background paper is by Fancy Pants, and there is some 3 Girl JAM ribbon from the Celebrations Bundle.
For my second card, I combined 2 stamp sets:

I used the new 2013 Halloween Spooktacular set and the Joyful Jar Drinks set.  The jar and the label are from the Joyful Jar Drinks set.  The bats and the sentiment are from the new Halloween set.

I stamped the jar twice -- once on white cardstock, once on vellum, and fussy cut both images.  There are 3 fussy cut bats placed "inside" the jar (in between the white c.s. and vellum).  I used Halloween papers from Echo Park for this card.

Kraft, ribbon, butterflies -- it's gotta be good!

Happy Thursday, Friends!  I have a post today on the 3 Girl JAM Challenge blog, where the current challenge is Kraft with ribbon.
I thought you might need a little inspiration, and I love working with Kraft paper.  My favorite way to use it is against white.  And, I always find 3 Girl JAM ribbon inspirational ;), so this was an easy one for me!  I grabbed a favorite Unity stamp, "You Give Me Butterflies" and set to creating.  Here's what I came up with:

I splattered some Studio Calico Mister Huey's on the white cardstock, stamped on the butterfly using Close to My Heart Gypsy ink, rounded the corners, and attached it to the Kraft base (the card is 5x5 inches).  3 Girl JAM Ribbons from the Royal Bundle matched perfectly with the butterfly and the stamped sentiment, so I wove the two together, and tied them in a double bow. Two stick pins from The Pinque Peacock add some elegance to the card, and a wood butterfly from Close To My Heart adds the finishing touch.
Here's a close up of the ribbon and pins:

Now it's your turn!  Grab your Kraft cardstock and create your own beauty, then link it up at the current 3 Girl JAM challenge.  We LOVE to see what you're making!

Ribbon Here, Ribbon There, for Get Inky! Stamps

Happy Wednesday, friends, I have a post up today for Get Inky Stamps, using a ribbon theme.  It's also the current theme for the Get Inky! Challenge blog.  So, for some ribbon inspiration, I made this card:

I used the Get Inky! Stamps "Sew Sweet Cupcakes" set, for the cupcake, the stamped ribbon, AND the beautiful sentiment.  LOVE this set!! You can never have to many cupcakes! (or cupcake stamps).  I used a step card to make the design a little fancier. I used a file from Pretty Paper Pretty Ribbon found HERE. I colored the cupcake and stamped ribbon with Copic markers. I got the papers in a paper exchange, so I'm sorry, I don't know the brand. The crinkle ribbon is 3 Girl JAM, goblin green, from the Spooky Bundle, and some Milled Lavender Distress Stickles blinged up the stamped bow for the finishing touch to the card.  Hope you like it!

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:

I'm guest designing for Sweet Stamps! Starting with a Silhouette!

I have a month-long gig guest designing for Sweet Stamps!  I've been excited about this ever since Stacey invited me back in May! I have 5 projects lined up ready to go for the month Woohoo! Can't wait!  Thanks Stacey and Sweet Stamps!
There are weekly challenges at Sweet Stamps, so if you haven't discovered their blog and challenges yet, head on over.  This week's challenge is a silhouette challenge.  I chose the beautiful "Queen Anne's Lace Wildflower" stamp (6008G) to work with:

I thought I brought everything I would need to make my guest DT projects with when I went on a recent 4-day scrapbook retreat.  I discovered once I got there that I forgot my watercolor paints.  And, that's what I had planned in my head for this card.  So, instead, I used Gelatos.  The pink colored background paper is the top two colors of Gelatos, blended together with a baby wipe.  Then, for the backdrop to the flowers, using watercolor paper, I smudged on some Gelatos, wet down my finger, and blended.  I used Stazon ink for the Queen Anne's Lace Wildflower stamp. Some bling from my stash "tacks" down the corners.
Inside, I stamped this Sweet Stamps sentiment (9126C)...

That's it for me this week.  Next week's challenge is BLING! Yeah.  Gotta love that theme! Make a silhouette challenge and come link up!

Friends OWLways for Joy's Life design team

Is it Saturday already? Why is it when you're on vacation the week flies by?  Life! It's hard to explain sometimes.
We're having a 'friend shaped' theme on the Joy's Life design team blog this week.  I like all things owls, so decided to make an owl shaped card for my project:

I purchased this owl file from The Cutting Café. It worked perfectly for the Joy's Life stamp!  I used the Joy's Life stamp set "Punny Animals", available, along with many other fun sets, in the Joy's Life store.

My Mind's Eye Indie Chic 6x6 papers were used for this card. I hope you enjoyed it!  Check out the rest of the design team projects each day on the Joy's Life design team blog.

Pinque Peacock News for Friends With Flair!

It's been an interesting week, but at least I have some great news to share.  My first week of vacation! Monday, I spent the day at work, taking a CPR course.  Not much of a vacation yet there.  Tuesday, 5am, I woke to a sick dog.  Sammy vomited ALL day Tuesday.  The only unusual thing we know of that he ate was one small Andes mint, and I got most of it out of his mouth!  Late Tuesday we took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with pancreatitis.  Not such a good second day of vacation.  Wed., day 3, Sammy seemed slightly better, so my husband and I traveled to the "big city" to do a little shopping and lunch.  Four hours later, when we returned home, we were faced with a totally vomit-filled kitchen, hallway, and bathroom from one end to the other.  Sammy had re-lapsed.  He was hospitalized from Wednesday afternoon until late Thursday.  When we were bringing him home, we noticed he was limping on his left front leg.  So, Friday, day 5, we took him back to the vet to see what happened to his leg.  They aren't admitting to anything, but didn't charge us for the visit and did give us some pain pills for the injury.  If this is vacation, I think I'd rather be at work!!  Today, my husband prepared the decks for staining, and tomorrow I'm going to spend the day staining decks.  How traumatic can that be?
Now, for my much more exciting news!!!When I started on the 3 Girl JAM design team last February, I became acquainted with Jessica Shelton-Buffa, a fellow designer.  I soon fell in love with her Pinque Peacock products AND Jess herself.  Jess is  all heart and energy -- what's NOT to love?  So, earlier this summer, when Pinque Peacock put out a design team call, I decided to apply. Today is the day I get to make it public that I'm one of the newest Pinque Peacocks!  Yea!  Can't wait to get my hands on those products and start designing!  In honor of the occasion, I created a card using some Pinque Peacock stickpins that I just "happened" to have!

I used a Pinque Peacock Angel Stick Pin on this card.  There's also a Unity Stamp set, "Moments in Bloom", Sweet Stamps "Fanciful Butterflies" set, 3 Girl JAM crinkle ribbon, My Mind's Eye 6x6 Indie Chic "Saffron" papers, and a crystal flourish from Close To My Heart. I used a water pen and ink on each butterfly to get the realistic effect.
There's an announcement today on the Pinque Peacock blog about all the new Pinquettes.
My husband and I both have next week off, too.  We're praying for a more relaxing, enjoyable week! Maybe I'll have some time to get crafty with my Pinque Peacock pretties!

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
