Birthday Snowflakes -- for Scrapy Land Challenges

It's the 3rd Wednesday of the month, and that means a new challenge starts today at Scrapy Land Challenges.  Uses a die from the many brands sold in the Scrapy Land Store, and it's Anything Goes.  One winner will get a $15  gift certificate to use in the Scrapy Land Store!

My brother has a birthday early in January and he loves to ski, so I'm always looking for a winter-themed card for him.  This is the card I sent him this year.  It's not skiing related, but definitely makes me think if winter:

That beautiful snowflake die set is from Sue Wilson.  It's called Festive Collection - Bold Snowflake Frame.  It comes with 5 dies, and I used all of them on this snowflake.

The Happy Birthday are dies from Crafter's Companion

The designer papers on this card are from We Are 3 Digital Shop.  They are part of the Snow Globes Collection.

I hope you join us at Scrapy Land Challenges these next 2 weeks for our Anything Goes with a die from the Scrapy Land Store.

I'd like to enter this in the following challenges:
Outlawz Festive Fridays -- Birthday
Crazy4Challenges -- Winter Card
Crafter's Castle -- ATG

Cards, Cards, Cards to Start the Year Out Right -- for Scrapy Land Challenges

Happy New Year everyone!  I hope you were able to ring the year in with fun and enthusiasm!  I spent the evening at the nursing home with my friends there.  It's where I've been the last 35 years on New Year's Eve, so it's a long standing tradition!

It's not only New Year's Day today, but it's also the first Wednesday of the month, so we're starting a new challenge at Scrapy Land Challenges. There will be one $15 winner for shopping in the Scrapy Land Store!

I have a few cards to share with you today, all using the same technique, but different dies:

One of my favorite things to do is to ink up a bunch of backgrounds, lightly mist them with water so the ink can react to the water, then when they dry, cut out some dies. That's what I did with all these cards.  This first card, above, uses a die from Tonic Studios.

Here's another version in a different color:

Here's the same inks used, but a different die.  This exact die isn't carried in the store, but when a searched "butterfly" I found many that work.  You'll find that search here.  This die is from Sizzix.

Here's a different color scheme, but the same butterfly used on a sympathy card:

And, lastly, a thank you card for a friend that is a dog lover:

This die is from  Crafter's Companion.  All the sentiments were hand stamped on the cards.  The panels were inked with distress inks using watercolor paper, then attached to card bases.

One easy theme, many cards.  Try it! Then join us at Scrapy Land Challenges this next 2 weeks.  I'd love to see what you create, and you might win the $15 gift certificate to the Scrapy Land Store

Santa Treat Boxes -- for Scrapy Land Challenges

Wednesday! One week until Christmas!  Is that even possible?  Since this is the 3rd Wednesday of the month, we are starting a new challenge over at Scrapy Land Challenges. Challenges are always Anything Goes, as long as you use a brand of die sold in the Scrapy Land Store.  One winner will receive a $15 gift certificate to go shopping in the Scrapy Land Store!

I made these delight tiny treat boxes to give a  few pieces if candy to my friends in the nursing home.  I'm always looking for ways to bring them a little "something"

This tiny gift box is by Lawn Fawn.  I also used the Tiny Gift Box Holiday Hats Add On. The boxes make up very quickly, and the box itself comes with cute embellishments -- a star,  several hearts, a darling bow, and a tag.

OK, I know we are all busy this next couple weeks, but I really hope you find time to join us at Scrapy Land Challenges!

A New Year Toast -- for Scrapy Land Challenges

It's the first Wednesday of the month, so there is a new challenge starting today at Scrapy Land Challenge Blog.  Challenges are always Anything Goes, as long as you use a brand of die sold in the Scrapy Land Store.  There is a wide selection of dies sold there, so this is easy to do!

I am just about done making Christmas cards, and I've started making a few New Year's cards to send to friends and family.  Here's one of them, using a Tutti Design die:

This card uses Tutti Designs die, Champagne Flutes.  I cut it with gold foil paper, and I think it looks so festive!  I'm using this image for New Year's, but I think it could be used for any celebration -- birthday, wedding, anniversary.  I look at those Champagne Flutes, and my mind says, "clink, clink".

All the other elements on this card are from Kaisercraft -- the paper. the banner, and the sentiment, are all part of the Kaisercraft Starry Night release.  It made for a quick card.

The Scrapy Land Challenge will run for the next two weeks, and I do hope you can join us.  One lucky winner will receive a $15 gift certificate to the Scrapy Land Store!

I'd like to enter this in the following challenges:
D.L. Art -- Dec Linky Challenge

Hip Hip Hooray! For Scrapy Land Challenges

Today is the 3rd Wednesday of November, and that means there is a new challenge starting today at the Scrapy Land Challenge Blog.  Challenges are always Anything Goes, as long as you use a brand of die that is sold in the Scrapy Land Store.  Scrapy Land sells dozens and dozens of brands of dies, so this is very easy to do!  Shop the Scrapy Land Store here, and see for yourself!

I like to have a stash of birthday cards.  It seems like I often need one, and you never know when hubby will come home from work with a request like, "I need a birthday card for tomorrow."  So, when I saw this Hip Hip Hooray Card Panel from Frantic Stamper, I knew what I wanted to make with it:

The balloon is also from Frantic Stamper.  It is one icon in a set of Birthday Icons

I think this Hip Hip Hooray Card Panel could have many uses.  I can see it as a graduation card, a retirement card, baby card -- any occasion worth celebrating!

I hope you can join us the next 2 weeks at the Scrapy Land Challenge Blog.  One winner gets a $15 gift certificate to the Scrapy Land Store!

A Truck Full of Thanks -- for Scrapy Land Challenges

Today is the first Wednesday of November (how did that happen, anyway?), and that means there is a new challenge starting today at the Scrapy Land Challenge Blog.  Challenges are always Anything Goes, as long as you use a brand of die that is sold in the Scrapy Land Store.  Scrapy Land sells dozens and dozens of brands of dies, so this is very easy to do!  Shop the Scrapy Land Store here, and see for yourself!

Since it is November, and Thanksgiving is celebrated this month here in the USA, I wanted to make a Fall/Thanksgiving card for today's challenge.  Here's my creation:

The truck is a die from Cheapo Dies called Loads of Love.  It is no longer available, but search for 'trucks' in the search engine, and we will find several very cute ones, including this one from Impression Obsession and Bob's Old Truck in 2 sizes from Frantic Stamper.

I made the truck look a bit "rusty" using some metallic wax from Spectrum Noir.

That big pumpkin in the back of truck is on its way to a pumpkin weighing contest.  It might just win!!  It is a die from Yvonne Creations.  It is called Fabulous Fall Collection - Autumn Leaves.  Of all the die collections I've purchased from the Scrapy Land Store, this is my go-to set, especially this time of year!  It makes beautiful fall leaves, acorns, toadstools, and yes, pumpkins!

The stitched oval die is from Spellbinders.  Many companies have similar dies, including these from Lawn Fawn, these from Tutti Design, and these from Elizabeth Craft

The paisley print background paper is from We Are 3 Digital Shop.  It is from the Howdy Autumn Collection. The sentiment, also from the We Are 3 Digital Shop, is one of the Itty Bitty Collection.

The burlap ribbon behind the stitched oval die is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  I thought it added just the right amount of texture to a fall card.

I hope you can join us the next 2 weeks at the Scrapy Land Challenge Blog.  One winner gets a $15 gift certificate to the Scrapy Land Store!

Frenchie Joy -- for Scrapy Land Challenges

It's the 3rd Wednesday of the month, and that means it's time for a new challenge at the Scrapy Land Challenge Blog.  The theme is Anything Goes as long as you use a die or brand that Scrapy Land sells. Easy!

I recently saw this Spellbinders die, and just had to have it.  I'm so dog obsessed, that I knew I needed it for some of my dog loving friends for their Christmas cards. I know I'll be replicating this card a few times:

I cut out the 2 sizes of banners with a die set from Lawn Fawn, called Stitched Party Banner Dies.   The Ornate Joy is from Frantic Stamper.  The blue eyes were achieved with dots of a Viva Decor Turquoise Pearl Pen.

The designer papers on this card are from the We Are 3 Digital Shop.  The handsome dog's bow tie came from the Peppermint Collection. Houndstooth Holiday is the other paper.

I hope you can join us in the next 2 weeks at Scrapy Land Challenges.  You could win a $15 gift certificate!  Remember, it's anything goes, as long as you use a die or brand of die sold in the Scrapy Land Store

Autumn Wheelbarrow -- for Scrapy Land Challenges

It's the first Wednesday of the month, and that means it's challenge time on the Scrapy Land Challenge Blog. Challenges are always Anything Goes, as long as you use a brand of die sold in the Scrapy Land Store.  Nearly 50 brands of dies are sold in the Scrapy Land Store, so this is easy to do!

It is officially Fall, and it has felt like Fall for quite some time where I live, so I got out some Autumn dies and fall colored papers for today's card.  I love the colors of Fall!

The focal point of the card, the Autumn Wheelbarrow, is a Tutti Designs die.  I love how delicate and scrolled it is when cut out!  The white doily behind the Autumn Wheelbarrow  is from Cheery Lynn Designs.  It is called French Pastry.   The pumpkins and leaves are all from the same set.  They are from Yvonne Creations, and are the Fabulous Fall, Autumn Leaves.  The grass is part of a large set of dies from Creative Expressions. It is called Stitched Collection - Garden Critters.  There are many grass borders, if you search in the Scrapy Land store.  My search provided me with 41 possibilities.  The card base was cut out from a die.  It is from Card Deco

I stamped the sentiment on to the doily.  It is a stamp from Joy's Life Stamps.  The designer papers on this card are from the We Are 3 Digital Shop.  They are the Fall Inspiration collection.

Please try to join us at Scrapy Land Challenges!  Make a project with any brand die sold in the Scrapy Land Store and link up!  You could be the winner of a $15 gift certificate!

Just Sailing By....for Scrapy Land Challenges

It's the 3rd Wednesday in September, and we're starting a new challenge today over at the Scrapy Land Challenge Blog. We've started switching things up a bit, and we're now giving away one $15 gift certificate chosen by Random.org.  The design team chooses top 3 and honorable mentions.

I often like cards without too much "clutter".  I want the image to make a statement, so I keep them pretty simple.  I don't want the viewer's eye to get lost looking for the message in the card.  Today's card is a case in point.  Clean and simple, and to the point:

There's just one die on here, but it makes an impact, doesn't it?  The Scrapy Land Store sells 7 different sailboat dies.  This one is by Impression Obsession.  I like the clean lines of it.  It's called Sailboats, and there are 3 dies in the set.  This is the biggest die in the set.

The papers on this card are from the We Are 3 Digital Shop.  I thought it needed some nautical themed papers.  I computer generated the sentiment, then glued that sailboat at the edge so it could sail right off the card.

Scrapy Land products used on this card:

I hope you are able to join us at the Scrapy Land Challenge Blog.  Our challenges are Anything Goes, as long as you use a die found in the Scrapy Land Store.  Scrapy Land sells many brands of dies, so chances are, you already own one!  Make something and link up!  I'd love to see what you create!

Lucky I Have You -- for Scrapy Land Challenges

It's the first Wednesday in September, and we're starting a new challenge today over at the Scrapy Land Challenge Blog. We've started switching things up a bit, and we're now giving away one $15 gift certificate chosen by Random.org.  The design team chooses top 3 and honorable mentions.

Dies can add that decorative touch to a card that takes it from "that's nice" to "oh, my!"  That's what happened with today's card.  I used 3 stitched border dies found in the Scrapy Land Store, and it added that "wow" factor to my card:

I used Lawn Fawn Stitched Scalloped Border Dies, using 3 different dies on 3 different designer papers.  I colored my image first, found papers that matched my coloring, then picked the Lawn Fawn Stitched Scalloped Border Dies to match the papers and image.  I really liked the way it "spiced up" the card.

The papers on the card are from the We Are 3 Digital Shop.  The sentiment is an acrylic stamp from Close To My Heart, and the pearls are from my stash.  Oh, and the cute image is from Polkadoodles, colored with Copic markers.

Scrapy Land products used on this card:

Sunshine Smiles -- for Scrapy Land Challenges

It's the 3rd Wednesday of the month, so that can only mean one thing:  it's time for a new challenge over on the Scrapy Land Challenge Blog!  The challenges are always Anything Goes, as long as you use a brand of die that is sold in the Scrapy Land Store (there are over 55 brands for sale, so this is easy!).  There is 1 winner each challenge for a $15 gift certificate. Design team members choose their top 3 favorites.  Phew!  Got all the technical stuff out of way, so on to my card!

Summer is going fast.  Already the days are much shorter and the nights are cooler.  So, I thought I better celebrate summer while it's here with this fun shaker card:

The sunglasses shaker was made with a kit from Queen and Company.  It comes with 3 dies, the adhesive foam, and matching acetate shapes.  The label die behind it and the sun and circle die are from Spellbinders.

The 'smile' sentiment sticker, papers, and paper rose are all from my stash.

I hope you can join us at Scrapy Land Challenges.  Each challenge runs for 2 weeks, so you've got plenty of time!

Butterfly Treats -- for Scrapyland Challenges

It's the first Wednesday of the month, so that can only mean one thing:  it's time for a new challenge over on the Scrapy Land Challenge Blog!  The challenges are always Anything Goes, as long as you use a brand of die that is sold in the Scrapy Land Store (there are over 55 brands for sale, so this is easy!).  There is 1 winner each challenge for a $15 gift certificate. Design team members choose their top 3 favorites.  Phew!  Got all the technical stuff out of way, so on to my project!

I love making treat boxes & bags!  I like having a little something to take to my friends when we meet for lunch or coffee.  That's why, when I saw this Butterfly Treat Box from Lawn Fawn, I knew I just had to have it and give it a go.  Fortunately for me (and you!), the Scrapy Land Store has tons of Lawn Fawn products!

I have to admit, there's a bit of a learning curve with this die.  I had to curl the four pieces of the box like they were ribbon in order to get the correct shape of the box.  Once I figured that out, my box making went much faster!  I really like that there is no glue required on this cute little box.

Each one will hold 3 chocolate kisses -- just perfect for a little gift for a friend!

There's also a set of flower dies that comes with this, but I chose not to add them.  I liked the boxes just like this!  I think the stitching around the outside edge is so darn sweet!

Lawn Fawn has a number of treat boxes, and I own several of them.  This Butterfly Treat Box die, though, is my new favorite. Check out the Scrapy Land Store for all sorts of great boxes and bag cutting dies!

An Amazing Hummer -- for Scrapy Land Challenges

It's the 3rd Wednesday of the month, and that means it's time for a new challenge over on the Scrapy Land Challenge Blog.  Challenges go for 2 weeks, and are always Anything Goes, as long as you use a die sold in the Scrapy Land Store.  Scrapy Land sells over 55 brands of dies (that equates to hundreds of dies) so you have plenty to choose from!

I love hummingbirds!  They are beautiful, incredible flyers, very spunky, and great fun to watch at a bird feeder.  If you've ever been lucky enough to see a hummingbird nest, it's a sight you'll not soon forget.  So, when I saw this Creative Expressions Triple Layer Collection Hummingbird die, I had to have it!

This particular die has sold out, but there are other Creative Expressions Triple Layer dies in the Scrapy Land Store.  I really like the Triple Layer dies.  They are very easy to work with, and you can use 1, 2, or all 3 layers like I did here.

The outside frame is also from Creative Expressions.  It is no longer available, but is the Poppy Frames & Tags dies set.  I used the outside layers to create this card.

The patterned papers on this card are from We Are 3 Digital Shop.  The metallic paper used with the hummingbird was purchased from Crafters Companion.  The sentiment is an acrylic stamp from Close To My Heart, and the crinkle ribbon is from D.L. Art.

Here's another view where the metallic shine shows a little differently:
I found the hummer a bit difficult to photograph with the reflection of the metallic paper.

Anything Goes with a die from the Scrapy Land Store -- easy, right?  I hope you join us this next 2 weeks!  I'd love to see your creations!

I'd also like to give you a chance to win some blog candy I have.  I turned 60 on July 6th, and I have over $60 of crafty supplies I'm giving away to a lucky winner.  See this post for details on how you can win it.

USA Pup - for Scrapy Land Challenges

It's the first Wednesday of the month, which means it's time for a new challenge at the Scrapy Land Challenge Blog.  It's also the day before Independence Day here in the US, so I'm going with a Patriotic Theme for today's challenge project.

First, though, some information about Scrapy Land Challenges: Challenges run for 2 weeks, and are always Anything Goes, as long as you use a die that the Scrapy Land Store sells.  Scrapy Land carries over 55 brands of dies, so you have plenty to choose from!  There are 2 winners each challenge for a $10 gift certificate.

In honor of July 4th, here's my Patriotic Pup:

I started by cutting out the 3 stitched stars.  They are from Avery Elle. If you used the search engine in the Scrapy Land Store, you will find many similar star dies that would work.  Then, using an alphabet die set from Spellbinders, I die cut the USA.  Scrapy Land doesn't carry this exact alphabet, but has many that would work just the same as this one did.  Again, use the search function to find them.

I colored up the cute, patriotic pup from Bugaboo Stamps, fussy cut him, and glued him to the front of the card.  I found the blue/stars background paper at Pixel Scrapper.  It is digital.  I wanted the stars to be very small, so instead of printing it on a full sheet of paper, I brought it into a Pages software and shrunk it to a 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 size to make the stars nice and small.

The cute patriotic flair button and pretty crinkle ribbon are from D.L. Art.

Anything Goes with a die Scrapy Land Store sells -- easy, right?  I do hope you join us in the next 2 weeks!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:
Outlawz Festive Fridays -- your national flag
