PINHEAD CIRCUS Detailed Instructions for the Self Involved 1997

pop punk

Discogs

Artist Biography by
Formed in 1988 while trying to keep warm in the Colorado mountains, Jimmy Pinhead (vocals/guitar), Trelvis (bass), and Otis (drums) got together Pinhead Circus while under the influence of the Descendents, skating, and malt liquor. But it wouldn't be until 1997, after a bundle of shows and compilation tracks, when BYO Records caught their attention and released their first album, Detailed Instructions for the Self Involved. Two years later, Pinhead's second album, Everything Else Is Just a Far Gone Conclusion, followed, featuring new drummer Brandon Barnes. Soon after, Barnes split as well (later joining Rise Against) and Pinhead Circus welcomed both Dave Fantastik (drums) and Jordan Hauser (guitar and backing vocals) into the group. In fall 2000, the quartet released Fall in Love All Over Again through Soda Jerk Records; Black Power of Romance was issued in spring 2001 and found them back with BYO. Soda Jerk then put out the live album Live at Last in 2002.

DONOTS Pedigree Punk 1996

by request

Artist Biography by

A German punk rock band whose name was meant to pay tribute to pastry, but ended up representing so much more by that mistake, the Donots formed in 1993 in Ibbenburen, Germany. The band released its first album in 1996, entitled Pedigree Punk. The band worked up enough of a buzz that in 1998 the Donots signed with BMG German subsidiary label Gun Records. That same year the group released their first full length for their new label, Tonight's Karaoke Contest Winners. A handful of albums followed over the next ten years (Better Days Not Included (1999), Pocket Rock (2001), Amplify the Good Times (2002), Got the Noise (2004), and The Story So Far -- The Ibbtown Chronicles (2006)) and in 2006 vocalist Ingo Donot (Knollmann), guitarist Guido Donot (Knollman), bassist Jan Dirk Donot (Poggemann), drummer Eike Donot (Herwig) and guitarist Alex Donot (Siebenbiedel) split from Gun Records, and started their own, called Solitary Man. In 2008, the Donots -- on their new label -- released the album Coma Chameleon.

Artist Biography by

Santa Cruz, CA emo-thrash quartet Fisticuffs Bluff was formed in the fall of 1993 by guitarist Drew Gilbert, bassist Dave Louie and drummer Jay Con-ui; with the addition of singer Summer Mastous the following January, the band recorded its first demo, soon issuing a split single with Angel Hair. Bassist Paul Costuros and drummer Yoshi Nakamoto replaced Louie and Con-Ui in early 1995, and after touring the country with Nuzzle, Fisticuffs Bluff re-entered the studio before disbanding; their collected output was compiled for release by the Troubleman Unlimited label in early 2000.
