MENSWEAR Nuisance 1995

Menswear were a much-hyped mid-'90s Britpop group founded in 1994 in Camden Town, London and disbanded in 1998. They infamously received a great deal of press and record label interest before recording a single note.

Never heard of this British band but accidentally found them on Amazon and checked out the song samples. I'm sort of surprised I don't remember them because when I worked in radio, I knew a record rep who worked for Polygram, Menswear's label, and he'd send me boxes of free CDs, most of which ended up being sold to supplement my meager indie record store income.
Anyhow, back to Menswear. Bad name for a band, but a pretty good Britpop record that almost sounds like a male version of Elastica at times. And that's fine with me.
