Talenti: Caramel Cookie Crunch

Image
As you know, not too long ago, I made the trek from Eldon to the Lake HyVee to get some 2nd Street Creamery ice cream which I reviewed here . I also wanted to get some Talenti which isn't sold at any Eldon grocery store. I came to the sad realization that I haven't reviewed any Talenti. That obviously needed to change quickly. I wanted to grab something Madeline hadn't reviewed, since overall there hasn't been that much Talenti reviewed on this blog in general compared to how many flavors they have, which is 30!! Although HyVee generally has a great ice cream selection, they only had 4 Talenti flavors: pistachio, which Madeline had just reviewed, one of their sorbets, and I was looking to review a gelato, their vanilla, which I just wanted something more exciting, and the Caramel Cookie Crunch. In the store, I couldn't remember if Madeline had reviewed this flavor, and I didn't think she had. But when I got home and checked I was a little disappointed to see she...

Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter Cup

This post is for you archaeology fans. Not really, but kinda. I like to call my style of eating Ben & Jerry's the Archaeological Dig Style. And Peanut Butter Cup is one of the best Ben & Jerry's flavors for this style. To describe this style: instead of just eating the pint from top to bottom like a normal person, someone who employs the Archaeological Dig Style searches for the big chunks, and once they are located, they are excavated. I really think it's the best way to go about things. Sorry I don't have a banana for scale, a spoon will have to do. To really switch gears now, last time I reviewed a Ben & Jerry's flavor I made a promise that I would look more into what changed for the worse when Uniliver bought Ben & Jerry's. I found two things. First, Uniliver did some downsizing, eliminating jobs in a company committed to providing as many good, reasonably paying jobs as possible. Second, Uniliver got ride of some shops at which 40% o...

Ben and Jerry's S'mores

Image
When I stopped at Whole Foods not too long ago and bought the Three Twins flavor I also picked up Ben & Jerry's S'mores flavor. I haven't had it in a long time because the only place that sells it in STL is Whole Foods and I never go there. So I used this opportunity to grab a pint. I've finished finals already aka I'M DONE WITH COLLEGE. So obv I used my free time to do research about Ben & Jerry's. Things I learned: Ben & Jerry's is owned by Unilever. Unilever bought B&J's 14 years ago, but 14 years ago I was 8 so this is news to me. I'm not terribly surprised that Ben & Jerry's isn't independent, but I kind of thought they might be. The story of the sale is pretty interesting. B&J's has been cast as the ultimate darling of independent social enterprise company. And some weird corporate law thingy forced them to sell out. "Oh dear, if B&J's can't survive, no one can!" was sort of the genera...
