Fifty Shades of White

I used all kinds of fabrics to make this, lace, doyleys, fabric samples, old tablecloth, embroidery samples, handkerchief, vertical blind samples etc
They were all hand stitched [running stitch] to a white background fabric.
I think it looks better in real life but you can get a better look by clicking on the images.
I'm thinking of making a cushion cover with it unless I come up with another idea.

Experimental - Marbling and Stitched Paper

I stuck torn bits of painted papers onto lutradur [or evolon?], then free machine stitched a bird. I drew the bird on the back and stitched it on the back which didn't work too well - the white shows through. The other stitching ie the plant I stitched topside which worked better.

I had some wallpaper paste left over from decorating so I did a bit of marbling, both on paper and fabric. Click on photo for closer look. They looked great straight after marbling but most of the colour washed off when I rinsed them, so not a very successful session. Some of it was poor choice of paints I think.

Tablet Art

Drawings done on my Samsung tablet.
I used 'autodesk sketchbook pro' for the top one and charcoal in 'corel painter mobile' for the one below.

Table Runner and Place Mats

I've had these oriental style squares of fabric in a drawer for a few years so I thought I would put them to good use and make a table runner/coaster. After that I thought I should have made place mats to match but there weren't enough squares. [good planning eh?] I had another search and found some oriental style dress fabric from years back and decided to use that, it's the blue floral fabric. And that is why you see that fabric on the mats but not the runner.

Hedgehogs

The individual hedgehogs were drawn on my tablet.
They were then combined to make a repeat pattern for a Spoonflower contest.

Fabric Flower Brooch

I was shown yesterday by Gill how to make a cute little brooch. And this is the one I made. It has a card circle base which is covered with fabric and all the petals are made from 1.5" squares of fabric. The centre is a covered bead. A great way to use any scraps of fabric you may have.

I used a candle as a wax resist, watercolour paints and recycled stationery for the collaged yellow flowers.

Stuffed Panda

Canon have a website where you can download and print 3D animals on paper for free.
I tried out a small rabbit, quite fiddly but cute. I thought it maybe interesting to try an animal with fabric instead so I increased the size and tried it out. It was quite tricky as the fabric frayed, so I tried it with this panda using evolon which doesn't fray and stitched it together rather than glueing. I painted the features on. I'd only printed out the head to see how it went but decided to continue with the body....but I must have written down the size I'd increased it by wrongly... it wasn't going to fit the head. So I just made a simple body out of a spoiled t-shirt. His face his cute but could do with a bit more stuffing, as for his body....poor thing.
