Quilt Keeper

I actually made this ages ago, but I was looking for the photo of it yesterday and realised I hadn't got one. It is made up of Spoonflower swatches, 8 I think. I made it to keep a small quilt in it, and it can also be used as a flat cushion too.

The whole fabric collection can be seen here

Drawn on my tablet.
I used the mirror tool in Autodesk Sketchbook Pro, whatever you draw on one side is magically drawn on the other side, a mirror image.

Stitched Leaf Print

I finished stitching on the leaf print today. It will be a page[s] in a book eventually ....I think.
Running stitch, zig-zag coral stitch, feathered chain stitch, long tail chain stitch.
Leaf printed background, organza layers, pearl thread, flower thread.

WIP and TAST 111

I've worked a couple more TAST stitches on my hand printed fabric. I used Tast 111, zig zag coral stitch as a couching thread to keep the organza in place on top of the printed fabric [light blue, perle thread]. As you can see I sewed it in a random manner rather than all the same size. I also used Tast 114, Long tail chain stitch together with running stitch to define the leaf pattern [dark blue, flower thread].

Six Ways to Draw a Tree

I drew these trees on my tablet a few weeks ago. I got the shape ideas from a book I had been given called '20 ways to draw a tree' by Eloise Renouf. It shows you ways of drawing trees and also 40 other things in nature - great if you are stuck for ideas and ways to draw things.

Three Pages from a Sketchbook

The insect is made from a recycled envelope

I don't like the collage with the leaves, I did make the
leaves with a fancy envelope but the colouring in covered the pattern too much. But the round decorative circles at the side are cute. They are some cheap little stamps bought from China via ebay.

Blocks Swatch

A new fabric swatch from Spoonflower. This design was developed from a hand painted page in a sketchbook. The fabric is faux suede, a new one recently launched.

WIP and Dog Fabric

Work in progress Wednesdays - See Pintangle
My WIP is a quilt, all hand quilted. This is the back, I will show the front when I've done it. I started it for a competition but the deadline for registration with images is the 26th, tomorrow and it most definitely will not be finished. It may have been finished if I'd not gone away on holiday, I didn't know I was going away when I started the quilt, it was a last minute offer we couldn't resist.
I hope I don't lose interest in finishing it now though.

Also a new fabric swatch from Spoonflower, the design was for a beard and moustache contest. This one was printed on performance pique, a stretchy fabric that does not fray.

Windows and Walls

I had a trip to Roker Harbour today, it's not far away but I've not been for years. There are new buildings and walkways since I last went. I came across these sculptures set in some of the walls. Actually there were a lot more of them but I just took a selection with my phone camera, so the picture quality is not great.

Sprouting

The plants in my garden seem to have shot up while I was away. The background on this photo is not my garden, it was taken at Eden Project, Cornwall.

Home Again

I don't know if anyone noticed but I've not been posting for a week as I've been to Cyprus for a holiday. The sea was a lovely blue and turquoise.

Spot the cat?
There were a lot of feral cats over there, I'm not sure if this one was as it looked a bit fatter than the others, but I don't think it was for sale.

Kitchen Utensils

Another fabric contest, this one was titled kitchen utensils. I drew the utensils on my tablet and the doily background came from an old drawing.

Crayon Monsters

A few weeks ago there was a contest for a fabric for crayon drawn monsters and these were some of the first drawings I did. I didn't really like any of them so I decided to use a handmade knitted primitive doll as a model.
And this is the resulting fabric
