Warms my heart--an altered tea bag

Because, well, why not?  A group of friends and I are getting together once a month and having an art day--last month, we use mixed media to alter tea bags. You can see bits of Vintage Text pages under the layers of paint. Pencils are great for this use too.... The teacup is acrylic paint , pencil, and chalk For the month of February, Altered Pages is warming up with the love of RED--check back often for plenty of hearts, roses, and red inspiration!  Wanna peek at one of my favorite red collage pages?  Check out these gorgeous red backgrounds:  RED Collage Backgrounds Happy Thursday to you! :)trisha

You know you're the only one I'll ever love!

"Don't let the stars get in your eyes . . ."  Are you familiar with that song?  Well, since "Love Makes the World Go 'Round" this month at Altered Pages,  I was perusing Love themed projects of Valentines past, and this altered tin caught my eye: "Don't let the stars get in your eyes, don't let the moon break your heart" This six-ish inch tin originally held baseball cards--I think it's prettier with the bouquet of velvet leaves and paper flowers . "Love blooms at night, in daylight it dies, don't let the stars get in your eyes"  The sides are covered with patterned papers . . . . you know you're the only one I'll ever love! The base is a vintage wooden thread spool.  Good grief, there's a LOT of embellishment on this one--tulle, netting, feathers, seam binding , tiny pom pom trim , gold star confetti, and a German scrap moon.   Check back all this month for more love-ly art.  ...

the realization--a mixed media collage

Do you ever find a collage photo that just makes you laugh?  So it is with little Mary Ann, or so I've named her . . . That's gold embossing around the edges of Mary Ann's "photo." And of course this vintage little lady needs a bit of vintage lace and trim on this 6x6 mixed media collage. You can see a bit of the pocket here, an Altered Pages image printed on vellum depicting an historic, if inaccurate, view of the universe. Can you see the lace pull on the edge of the tag peeping out of the top of the pocket? Both collage and tag were made from the same piece of mixed media collaged background. "Mary Ann was stunned by the realization that the universe did NOT revolve around her." I hope you enjoyed this piece from the past, created quite a few years ago for Altered Pages.   Did you know that Altered Pages doesn't just have collage images you can print, but also collage backgrounds?  PLUS color specific collage page...
