DIY Modeling Paste with Stencil

Welcome to Stencil Mania month! Today I have for you a mixed media canvas using a floral stencil as my focal point.  I have provided a supply list with links to everything I have used at the end of this post.  8 x 10 canvas board decoupaged with pretty tissue.  Top coated with matte medium. Beginnings of DIY texture paste using baby powder, glue, water and white paint (it smells great!)   I have provided the recipe below.  DIY texture paste divided up in three shades of white and turquoise using Dixie Belle Chalk Paint in Pure Gulf... Adding turquoise and white to background...  The previous matte medium layer allows removal of paint layers if you desire. You can use a baby wipe to remove paint here or there. I have done that in a few spots to bring out the black pattern of the tissue background.    Using Stencil and DIY texture paste to create ombre flowers... Outlining flowers, leaves and stems in water solu...

Lost Coast Stamps & Altered Pages Mash Up

Hi There!  For the month of July we are incorporating Lost Coast Stamps into our projects here at Altered Pages  and today I thought I would do a little something different.  I am showcasing the same stamp set in two seperate projects.  One is a somewhat of a quickie tag with lots of layers.   The other a bit more involved still using the same stamp set.   And, the stamp set can be found here... More Bugz.    My first project, a gift bag with an extra pocket for a gift card, started with this cute little  Diy French Fry box kit.   There are three each of two designs in each kit along with embellishments.  I did not use the enclosed embellishments, but instead opted for pretty paper flowers from  this adorable argyle ocean floral pack.           So, stamping, adding pops of color with aqua  acrylic paint , adhereing my flowers and gift card pocket  and then the c...

Red White and Bunco!

I was going to show you some wood pieces for Fall but...... Instead, I got caught up making a centerpiece for my Bunco gathering this weekend.   Since we are so close to July 4th, I chose a patriotic theme.      I first tried to use the deco mesh on the glass dollar store candles which is so festive... but that was a DIY DON'T.  The mesh stretches and i simply could not get it into place evenly. .   so I ripped it apart and started over I had a few red white and blue ribbons on hand and they worked nicely. I have a galvanized metal tray that matches a drink dispenser and some other serving pieces, AHA.  I will use that deco mesh after all as the base for the candles.   I will tie the stars and stripes ribbon to the handles and added some dollar store stars for fun.   I hope your weekend is relaxing. See more of the wood projects by the team. Thanks to our partner this ...

VACATION TIME AND PRETTY STUFF

SANDALS AND BEACHES WE ALL LOVE THE BEACH artist unknown HAVE YOU SEEN THE FABULOUS WOOD SIGNS WE HAVE IN STOCK? READY  TO PAINT AND DECORATE FOR SUMMER AND BEYOND.   Add stencils , paints , words, ribbons and more!

Life is a Beach!

We love the beach!   What better represents fun days in sun and sand but a Beachball.   We had to use this one for a fun project and a Father's Day gift! Eddie loves the beach and adores his grandkids! (yes more than me!) The beachball comes fully sanded and ready to paint or add papers on the three individual pieces.   I added Chalk Paint color Inheritance to the base of the ball.    Next was choosing a Dixie Belle paint in colors of Gulf or Plum Crazy for the segments, finally choosing Gulf.  Did you know Dixie Belle is non-toxic and made in the USA, all natural, no animal testing and no fumes or harsh chemicals.  You can order it at  DIY Design Studio .  I used a Dixie Belle chip brush and it only takes one coat in most all cases. I trimmed around the ball in a funky paper.  The center disc was covered with the same paper.  When you do not have a punch to get perfect round edges, use ...

Giving a Cute Little Cupcake a Home!

Hello again! During the month of June, you will see our Design Team focusing on projects that incorporate wood. We are very proud to be partnering with Foundations Decor to make this a big success. Today, I am starting Phase 1 of a two-part project where I create a cute little "Home" for a very pretty cupcake.  So unds a little funny, I know, but come along and you won't be sorry.    Here is a little sneak peak...   I began with this cute little cupcake, pretty papers and paint... Next, came a coat of paint... Then, a bit more paint to embellish and a bit of sanding to give the piece a bit of a distress.   I began applying some of that pretty paper and a beautiful butterfly image as well... Then, it was time to assemble... Here you see that side one is done.  Yep, this is going to be a two-sided, two-part project.  It's nice to be able to change up the color scheme for different occasions or even just your m...
