δημηγορεῖν: harangue, with more regard for the impression than for the treatment of the subject. —
ὁρᾷς: either with or without ὡς or ὅτι, stands freq. at the beginning of clauses, like our you see, i.e. you see for yourself. Cf. Xen. Hier. i. 16 ἀλλ᾽ ὁρᾷς: ἐκεῖνό γε οὐκ ἂν ἔτι πείσαις ἀνθρώπων οὐδένα ὡς κτἑ., Ar. Pax 331 ἀλλ᾽ ὁρᾶτ̓, οὔπω πέπαυσθε; Plato Crat. 432 c ὁρᾷς οὖν ὅτι ἄλλην χρὴ εἰκόνος ὀρθότητα (principle of correctness) ζητεῖν. Different is the interr. ὁρᾷς do you see? Cf. Apol. 24 d ὁρᾷς, ὦ Μέλητε, ὅτι σιγᾷς καὶ οὐκ ἔχεις εἰπεῖν;
