Stamp a Stack o' Snowflakes

It is past 8 in the morning but it's very dark outside still--we have an 80% chance of snow today so I'm glad that I'm not planning to go anywhere!  Today's plans include getting boxes ready to ship (I'm going to the post office first thing tomorrow morning), finishing up wrapping presents, and trying to eke out some time in my craft room while I do laundry.  I know I won't have much craft room time after this week when Ryan is off school, so I'm going to try to use my time wisely today.

Anyway, since I haven't had any stamping time yet this week, I don't have anything done for current challenges.  But a couple of weeks ago, I had the personal challenge of making cards for my husband's work.

I made over 60 of these IN ONE DAY and Ryan helped put the rhinestones on.  For the second year in a row, the hubs has asked for cards at pretty much the eleventh hour, so I couldn't do them all one color--I did about a third each on Soft Sea Foam, Pool Party, and Balmy Blue, and then I ordered cardstock to replace what I used ;)  The inside is stamped with "from our home to yours" and lookit that, I didn't use the merry little Christmas stamp from Framed & Festive this time!  Mostly because we were going for festive holiday cards but not Christmas-specific here.

Update:  I just peeked outside and it is, indeed, snowing right now.  And we should stay below freezing for the next few days, so there might possibly be sledding in our future.  But for now I think it's time to make some tea.  Cheers!

CAS Christmas, Part 1

So I mentioned yesterday that the hubs asked me to make 65 Christmas cards for his work...well, more like winter holiday cards, not Christmas specific.  I managed to make ALLLLLLL of them yesterday.  I did five cards which are all basically the same one-layer CAS design, I just used different stamps so I only made 13 of each card.  That made me feel like I was making progress when I switched to a different design, and it kept me from completely running out of any single color of cardstock since I hadn't specifically planned for this project.  I have a very large stamp collection, so it took me quite some time to go through all my winter stamps and settle on images and sentiments for the five designs.  Almost all the stamps I ended up choosing are retired.

Here's card #1!  I used the cute cabin image from Cozy Christmas and a sentiment from the still current set Poinsettia Petals on Crumb Cake cardstock.

This was actually design #5 but I wanted to pair these two together and share the other three designs later this week.  For this one I used Serene Snowflakes and Hugs & Wishes for the greeting.  Inside of both of these designs I stamped "Season's Greetings" from Bright & Beautiful.

Very simple design, but it had to be for me to make 65 cards in a single day, and I think they're still reasonably cute.  Now I just need to sign the insides of them and see what the hubs wants as far as envelopes...

Have a great day, y'all!

Friday Flashback: Serene Snowflakes

Happy Friday and welcome to the Friday Flashback!  Today's stamp set of choice is Serene Snowflakes, and I'm a total sucker for snowflake stamps.  Let's get started!

This was our 2009 Christmas card.  The main image is Patterned Pines (I actually got two of that set, one to keep the three trees as one stamp and the other one to cut them apart); the green snowflake background is from today's stamp set.  The main image is on Shimmery White paper to make it a little more special...I was going for a flat easy-to-mail card (plus easy to make multiples).

And here again the snowflakes are in the background...the main image is *cough cough* contraband but I needed a polar bear image to make a Hanukkah card for my friend Sarah :)

And there's a couple of baby book layouts.  For the first one, I just took the color combo from the patterned paper (which is when I fell in love with Bordering Blue, so of course they retired it immediately thereafter) and the second one I did more purple because that book was for my friend Melissa's daughter, and Melissa loves purple so her book was purpled up pretty good.

I made this one for a challenge last year, it was one of the earlier posts on this blog.  I don't like those white-on-white challenges though, I love COLOR so this was definitely a one-off for me!

And that's it for the Flashback, here's today's brand new card:

I am kinda totally in love with this color combination:  Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, and Wisteria Wonder.  I saw a gift bag with a snowman on it and the bag was done in these colors and I couldn't wait to try it out myself.  I think I might make a few of these with Festive Flurry to send out to my SU ladies...the sentiment is also retired, but it's from Snowflakes.  I stamped the smaller snowflakes in Whisper White on the Cabana layer but they're not showing up too great on the pic.  Oh well.

Anyway, this awesome sketch is brought to you by Create with Connie and Mary:

Thanks for stopping by today, have a great weekend!

White Christmas

It looks like more of a WET Christmas here than a white one, but that's okay.  Hope everyone out there is having a wonderful holiday with family and friends.  I've been doing some holiday baking and I think we're about to go watch a Christmas movie :)

Made this for last week's SCS color challenge to make an all-white card (which, to be honest, is an anti-color challenge).  I did sneak in just a bit of Bordering Blue so you could read the sentiment and to give the edges of that panel a bit of definition, but the sparkly snowflake is pretty nice on its own.  It's prettier IRL, but at least the camera caught some of the sparkle this time.

Merry Christmas!
