Thanks, Teach

Friday morning already, y'all.  I'm starting off today with a headache, but I'm hoping my morning cuppa tea and some pumpkin baked oatmeal will help with that.  Though if Ryan has his way, he'll get 2/3 of my oatmeal.  How can he fit that much oatmeal in his wee little tummy?  Piggy baby.  Sure is cute, though.

So I made a card yesterday while Ryan was entertaining his dada.

I don't know, this card looked better in my head.  It just feels a little lackluster to me?  I don't know.  Anyway, I started with the Paper Players sketch:

And of course the Retro Rubber theme challenge:

My card today isn't *quite* as obviously school-related, but I thought it would work nicely as a teacher thank you card.  Why do we associate apples with teachers?  Things that make you go hmm.  Oh yeah, stamp ages...I've had Apple of My Eye for just a year and a half, and So Happy For You is 6 years old.

Anyway, one last challenge, I used the Color Throwdown colors:

I used Real Red, Crushed Curry, and Wild Wasabi, which are great back-to-school colors.

Well, Ryan is trying to get my attention...either he wants my oatmeal, or he needs a diaper change.  Ha!  Cheers, y'all!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Apple of My Eye, So Happy For You
Ink:  Real Red, Wild Wasabi, Chocolate Chip
Paper:  Wild Wasabi, Thick Whisper White, Color Theory DSP
Accessories:  Dimensionals, dinner plate traced for the curve

Applejack

So, this week I've shown you cards featuring four of the new In Colors:  Emerald Envy, Sweet Sugarplum, Dapper Denim, and Flirty Flamingo.  The last new In Color is Peekaboo Peach, and when I saw the cardstock I was stumped for what to do with that color.  And then I watched an episode of My Little Pony (which is a great show) and I realized one of my favorite ponies is Peekaboo Peach colored.

Hi Applejack!  (My other favorite pony is Pinkie Pie.  And also Apple Bloom.)  So in honor of Applejack, I pulled out the stamp set Apple of My Eye...

And made a peach card ;)  The new In Color DSP wasn't on the demonstrator preorder, or else I would have used that, but I think the So Saffron actually does look pretty good with Peekaboo Peach (and those are Applejack's two main colors).  I also do really like Peekaboo Peach with Real Red.

I used this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

And because I've never done an APPLE card with Apple of My Eye, I made a second one.

Hey, finally an apple!  The proportions of the layers are slightly different just because I was using scraps and the Chocolate Chip scrap was thicker than the Emerald Envy scrap I used on the peach card.

So whaddya know, this stamp set DOES make apples after all.  I haven't made a pear yet though.

Cheers, y'all!

Nacho Blog Hop: St. Patrick's Day & Easter Projects

Happy Nacho Day, folks!  That's right, it's time for another Nacho Average Blog Hop.  If you came here from Anne's blog, welcome!  And fear not, there are links for the entire hop at the bottom of the post.

This month's theme is all about two spring holidays:  St. Patrick's Day and Easter.  I had to put my thinking cap on for this one because a.) SU! doesn't do many St. Paddy's Day stamps and b.) I didn't get any of the specifically-for-Easter stamps this year.  But let's see what I came up with, shall we?

No clover stamps?  No problem!  Use hearts to make your own--the hearts and background swish are from Work of Art...I jumped on the bandwagon when everyone else bought it but I've never done much with it.  So imagine my surprise when it came to the rescue for a St. Paddy's Day card!  The sentiment is from Greatest Greetings and just seemed like the perfect thing for my heart-y clover.  The stem is from Apple of My Eye, which continues its streak in my house of not making anything apple-related.  I could have done a few more swishes and made a rainbow but I just thought of that and I kinda like the simplicity of the green-and-yellow combination.  More on that in a minute.

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Work of Art, Apple of My Eye, Greatest Greetings
Ink:  Garden Green, Crushed Curry
Paper:  Thick Whisper White
Accessories:  Rhinestone

I mentioned in last week's Friday Flashback post that I got Tag Time specifically for this wee little clover and I could NOT resist busting it out again when I got the idea for this bear card.  And it's a Baylor bear card thanks to a whole lot of Garden Green and some Crushed Curry OH HI MISSY!  Ha, I always think of her when I make anything bear-related.  And since Baylor's colors are green and gold, that Go Green sentiment is doing double duty.

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Thankful Forest Friends & Tag Time (both retired), Greatest Greetings
Ink:  Basic Black, Garden Green
Paper:  Garden Green, Crushed Curry, Thick Whisper White, Garden Green & Basic Black DSP
Accessories:  Dimensionals, Regals Candy Dots

And finally, here's something for Easter...I remembered that Barnyard Babies has a sweet little lamb in it and of course Teeny Tiny Wishes has sentiments for just about everything.  Confession time:  I totally stole this layout from Rita Wright, who uses it as a fall-back layout from time to time and I like it :D  Anyway, I wanted my little lamby-toes to stay white so I got to pick any pastels I wanted for Easter colors.

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Barnyard Babies, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink:  Basic Black, Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz
Paper:  So Saffron, Pear Pizzazz, Thick Whisper White, Wisteria Wonder & Blushing Bride DSP
Accessories:  Chalk Talk Framelits, Hexagon & Petite Petals punch, Subtles Candy Dot

Happy St. Patrick's Day and also happy Easter from the Nachos!

Sweet Orange

I have recently become ever so slightly obsessed with the My Little Pony cartoon, and it's funny when I'm naming blog posts on here that the post titles seem like they would be good pony names.  Hubs thinks the cartoon is ridiculous, but he watches Kung Fu Panda Legends of Awesome so he'd know ridiculous :p

Enough about cartoons, how about another Apple of My Eye card that does NOT feature any apples?

I can't help it, I love the citrus stamp.  And it's photopolymer so I was able to stamp the sentiment on top of the lemon without using a Stamp-a-ma-jig.  I used this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

And also this week's Color Throwdown, love these colors:

I used Tangelo Twist (I'll miss it when it retires this summer), Daffodil Delight, and Old Olive.  And also some Early Espresso for the sentiment otherwise it wouldn't show up :)

Wish me luck, kids, I'm going to the dentist today.  Cheers!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Apple of My Eye
Ink:  Tangelo Twist, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Early Espresso
Paper:  Thick Whisper White, Tangelo Twist DSP
Accessories:  1 3/4" circle punch (I think?), Dimensionals

Lime-Tastic

How goes it in Blogland today?  I'm ready for it to stop raining here...I'm a little tired of being ankle deep in mud.  Girl dog is a lot tired of not going on her daily walk; every time I open the back door and it's raining outside, she gives me this look like, "Well, make it stop!"  Ha!  I wish.

Enough weather whining.  You're here for the card.

Today we're all about the limes because of this color challenge at Cupcake Inspirations:

I translated that into Cucumber Crush, Whisper White, and Tempting Turquoise.  Yes, my limes are actually cucumber-colored.  Except Cucumber Crush doesn't look like the color of a cucumber to me, and I don't like cucumbers but I do like limes.

I'm overthinking this.

Check out the sketch from Stampin' Celebration:

I love the sketch but I wasn't really sure what to put for the star element in the upper left corner, so I went with a wee butterfly but I'm not sure it makes sense.

Anyway, that's it for me today as I need to get out and run some errands.  Hubs gave me the go-ahead to buy some new paper storage for all my 12x12 patterned paper, which is great because what I have already is falling apart.  I see an afternoon of organization in my future.  Cheers!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Apple of My Eye, Perfect Pairings, Papillon Potpourri
Ink:  Cucumber Crush, Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:  Thick Whisper White, Basic Black, Tempting Turquoise, silver Glimmer Paper
Accessories:  Hexagon & Bitty Butterfly punches, rhinestones, Dimensional

p.s.  It has not escaped my notice that I've used the stamp set "Apple of My Eye" twice now and never made a card with an apple on it.  Ha.

You're the Sweetest

Happy Wednesday, y'all.  Do you need a bright cheery card to get you over hump day?  Then you've come to the right place.

New stamps alert!  I got the set Apple of My Eye from the new Occasions catalog because I planned to use it for the baby book I'm working on.  I'm not 100% sure now that I'm going to use it for that, but I did make this super cute card with it so it was still worth getting :)

And there's the inside.  I like the casual font on the sentiments.

So this card fits with the Inkspirational challenge this week:

All the stamps are brand new, and for that matter the patterned paper is pretty new to me as well.  I also used this week's Retro Sketch:

The color combo was my own.  I don't know, for some reason I like Pumpkin Pie, Night of Navy, and Pear Pizzazz together.  I thought about stamping something on the Pear Pizzazz layer, but then I thought that would make the card too busy so I just left it as-is.  I do love those diagonal stripes on the Night of Navy piece though :)

Cheers, peeps!
