Friday Flashback: Best of Sale-a-Bration

A rainy Friday morning to you, friends!  Seriously, I'm going to need a boat to get to the gym today, and my little girl dog is going to be very sad when she realizes we're not going for a walk in the wet.  But you're not here for a weather report, you're here for the Friday Flashback.  And today's stamp set is Best of Sale-a-Bration, which shoulda been called Best of Flowers Part 2 because every image but one is a flower.  I was a total lemming and bought all 12 of the Best Of sets a few years ago.

Also features Petal Parade, Four You

So the Best of Sale-a-Bration stamp on this card is the smaller red flower (and there's my favorite Fresh Prints of Bel Air paper!)

Also features Petal Parade, Banner Blast
Same stamp on here.  It was actually a smaller version of a flower in Petal Parade, which was a SAB offering that same year the Best Of stamp sets came out.

Also features Morning Post Alphabet, Rain or Shine, Papillon Potpourri, Artistic Etchings

And here's the labels I made for my cross stitch projects because I'm a dork :)  The flower stamp on the Quarry label is the Best of Sale-a-Bration stamp on here.  Each one of the images has something to do with the cross stitch picture I'm working on:  Rain Blossoms is a scene of people in kimonos with Japanese parasols walking across a bridge; Eilonwy is a fairy with a crown of butterflies; the Quarry is a sort of Impressionist scene with lots of bluebonnets; and the Accolade is a famous Pre-Raphaelite painting of a lady knighting a man who is kneeling before her.

But anyway.  That's it for the Flashback, here's the new card:

Heyyy, I managed to use one of the stamps in the set that hadn't been used before!  Woo.  I used this week's Create with Connie & Mary sketch challenge:

And the Color Throwdown:

I used Pretty in Pink (though it might have worked a little better with a more saturated shade), Bashful Blue, Tangelo Twist, and Peach Parfait.  I can't wait to get the new In Colors in my hot little hands next week--there's a new peach color but what has me really excited are the new green and blue and purple.  And there's a pink.  I'll bust 'em out next week.

That's it for now, y'all.  Have a great weekend and stay dry.

Supplies, last card only:
Stamps:  Best of Sale-a-Bration, Perfectly Penned
Ink:  Basic Gray, Pretty in Pink, Peach Parfait, Tangelo Twist
Paper:  Peach Parfait, Tangelo Twist, Thick Whisper White, Bashful Blue DSP
Accessories:  Lots of Labels Framelits, Dimensionals, Wink of Stella glitter pen

Friday Flashback: Choo Choo

Howdy, folks!  It's time once again for a Friday Flashback, and this week's stamp set is Choo Choo.  Let's take a look, shall we?

Also features Big Deal Alphabet

I've done a few name frames, but not a lot.  The ribbon is actually the denim ribbon SU! sold a few years ago, it's not black like it looks in the picture.

Also features Loads of Love

A friend of mine wanted to use the Choo Choo train to make Christmas cards one year so this was the idea I came up with to help her out.  The packages from Loads of Love are sized just right for this train :)  But that's all the archives had to offer, so let's look at today's new piece:

It's a baby book layout from the books I just finished.  My friend the mama asked for one layout to document all the twins' milestones like first tooth, first laugh, etc. so this is what I made.  I thought the train was cute and slightly punny with *mile*stones and I used some patterned paper that kinda reminded me of train tracks a little bit.  The white tags with the stars aren't stuck down, so mama can use them to label each picture if she wants or she can choose to only write on the journaling block.  Options.

And there's a closeup of the train.  The animals are from the stamp set I Dig You, which comes up on another baby book layout (but I didn't use the animals on that one).  I got the new Basic Black ink pad from the holiday mini catalog and it is a nice crisp black!  And non-smeary.  Love it.

There's my color palette:  Crushed Curry, Real Red, Pacific Point (I tried Coastal Cabana first but it just didn't work), Basic Gray, Soft Suede, Basic Black, Smoky Slate, and Whisper White.  Of course a few of those colors are only used on the train but hey, they were used.

That's it for me this week, peeps.  We're going to the baseball game tonight, woo!  Cheers!

Supplies, baby book layout only:
Stamps:  Choo Choo, I Dig You, Banner Blast (small stars)
Ink:  Crushed Curry, Real Red, Pacific Point, Soft Suede, Basic Black, Smoky Slate
Paper:  Crushed Curry, Real Red, Pacific Point, Whisper White, Confetti Celebration DSP
Accessories:  Sizzix alphabet, medium star punch, key tag punch

Friday Flashback: Banner Blast

Happy Friday, stampy pals!  Today's Friday Flashback stamp set is Banner Blast, which was one of last year's Sale-a-Bration offerings.  So let's get to it!

Also features Baby Prints and My Paper Pumpkin (tiny chevron)
Sweet baby feets!

Also features Bring on the Cake

Or how about a bright birthday banner?

Also features Petal Parade, Best of Sale-a-Bration

Or just a funky floral "hi".  This was one of those odder Splitcoast layouts...and that's it from the archives.  So let's see something new!

I tried to resist the butterflies, really I did, but I just couldn't.  (I almost used them yesterday too but went with Be the Star instead.)  I used the latest sketch from Create with Connie and Mary:

I adapted it to a landscape card instead of portrait and I cannot seem to type today so hopefully I caught all the typos before this goes up on the blog.  Anyway, I used all the same parts and pieces, but the butterfly was too wide to accommodate a portrait card.

I also used the colors from this week's Color Throwdown:

Hmm, maybe that inspiration pic is why I couldn't resist the butterflies today.  There's a thought.  Anyway, I interpreted these colors as Tangelo Twist, Basic Black, and Garden Green.

Hope you have a great weekend, peeps!  Mwah!

Supplies, last card only:
Stamps:  Banner Blast, Watercolor Wings
Ink:  Tangelo Twist, Garden Green
Paper:  Basic Black, Whisper White, Night & Day DSP, Basic Black & Garden Green DSP
Accessories:  Bold Butterflies & Ovals Framelits, Butterfly Thinlits, banner punch, rhinestone, Dimensionals

Friday Flashback: Baby Prints

Happy Friday!  And of course it's time for a Friday Flashback : )  Today's featured retired stamp set is Baby Prints, which I've used more than a couple of times since my friends do insist on having the babies.  I think you'll be able to figure out pretty quick which stamp in the set is my favorite!

Also features A Word for You
Here's an easy-peasy baby boy card to start off with.

Also features Banner Blast and a past Paper Pumpkin stamp

And one for baby girls too!

Again with the stamp from A Word For You
...And another baby girl card, which is funny because for a long time it seemed like everyone I knew was having boys.

Baby book!  Can't go wrong with green and blue for baby boy pages, right?  And it turns out there's a pair of hands to go with the baby feet.

Hey, same layout but in pinks.  The lighting isn't optimal in this picture, it looked better in real life.
Also features Cuddles & Kisses
I wish the sentiment had shown up a little better on the patterned paper for this one.

Also features Curly Cute
I know you're surprised to see more baby feet.

Also features Cuddles & Kisses
And this time it was TWIN feet!  Those twins turned one a couple months ago.  So there's the Flashback (a long one this time!) and that means it's time for today's brand-new card, featuring (you guessed it) FEET.

I can't help it, I like the baby feet stamp like 700 times more than the baby hands one.  I was looking around for a sentiment to go with the baby feets and that one from Apple Blossoms seemed like a good idea, so I went with it.  Today's card is boyish because that's where the colors from Colour Me...! took me today:

I started out kinda doing this week's Retro Sketch, but I strayed far enough away from the original sketch that I'm not going to enter it over there.  So that's it for me this week, hope you have a great weekend!

Cheers, peeps!

Supplies, last card only:
Stamps:  Baby Prints, Apple Blossoms
Ink:  Island Indigo, Crisp Cantaloupe
Paper:  Soft Sky, Island Indigo, Whisper White, Crisp Cantaloupe DSP
Accessories:  Labels Collection Framelits, Alphabet EF, Itty Bitty Punch Pack, Dimensionals

Nacho Birthday Banner

Mornin', sports fans!  It's time for a brand-new color challenge at Nacho Average Challenges, check it out:

Fun summery colors that just call for a birthday card, am I right?  'Cause that's what I made!

Ok, so I pretty much never used Banner Blast during SAB but now I've used it twice in a week.  It's all good!  I wanted the colors and patterns on the banners to be random, so I tried not to overthink where to place each piece before I glued them down.  Same with the letters, I just picked letters at random to color in and then left a couple white.  I think what took the longest on this card was gluing the banners down, so really the whole card was pretty quick.

Go check out the other Nacho DT creations and get to stampin'!  Cheers, peeps!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Banner Blast, Bring on the Cake (both retired now, I'm pretty sure Bring on the Cake is sold out)
Ink:  Pacific Point, Gumball Green, Daffodil Delight
Paper:  Pacific Point, Gumball Green, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White
Accessories:  Banner punch

Baby Love

Anybody else out there make cards and also scrapbook?  And do you have trouble moving back and forth between the two?  I think I do sometimes.  I've been working a lot on my scrapbooks lately and I've made a couple of cards that just didn't quite work to me.

This was the first card I made for yesterday's Nacho sketch, and it just didn't seem really finished to me.  I don't know why.  So I made the leaf card I posted yesterday.  Here's the sketch again:

Well, I'm off to take my doggos to the vet so they can get their fit-to-fly health certificates.  Sadly, that means that they're flying out of here on Friday.  I'm going to miss them, even if they're both constantly getting in the way because they like to lay down under my craft table or right behind my rolling desk chair ;)

Cheers, peeps!  Thanks for stopping by!

Sale-a-Brate with the Nachos

Happy Nacho Day everyone!  It's time for a Nacho Average Color Challenge:

I think I'm in love with that color combo, isn't it gorgeous?  Here's my card:

I'm not 100% sure I did the color combo justice, I may have to give it another whirl just for funsies.  I used an SCS sketch for this, kind of expecting not to like it because of all the layers, but I ended up liking it quite a bit.  I think that my little "hi" tag is a bit *too* small to compete with those flowers, but other than that I think it works.  I used Midnight Muse as a neutral to go with the yummy colors--my first thought was to use shells, but I feel like I do that a lot and since today is the first day of Sale-a-Bration I thought I'd break out some SAB stamp sets.  I actually made this one before I made yesterday's card but you'll just have to accept two Petal Parade cards in a row : )

Thanks for stopping by!  Go see what the other Nachos have done, and then show us what you've got and make your own creation.  Can't wait to see!

Supplies, all SU!
