Lavender & Sage

Mornin' y'all!  How's your Friday going?  I am planning to unveil my new project tomorrow (I was going to do Sunday but I can't wait that long) and so I'm excited about that.  And I have a sweet little card to share today:

What else could I use but Painted Lavender for the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge?

I used Highland Heather and Soft Succulent for my colors, though I think I should have gone with Soft Sea Foam instead.  I paired that with the Atlantic Hearts sketch:

I rally wasn't sure about thsi sketch at first so I'm glad I could come up with an idea that makes me happy for today's card.

Time to get Ryan off to school and then I need to go back to the store for the things I forgot to get yesterday.  I really ought to make a list before I go...

Cheers!

Vanilla Note

Happy Sunday, y'all!  Usually I post in the mornings but this weekend kinda got away from me a bit and I just really, really really wanted to play in the Just Add Ink challenge:

You know what I do NOT have much of in my stamp collection?  Book stamps.  There's the stack of books in Bird's Eye View, and I have a stamp set that's kind of back-to-schoolish that has some books, but other than that I can't think of any.  I have my eye on some non-SU! stamps to fill that void, but in the meantime...

I went with vanilla.  Not sure why but as soon as I saw that inspiration pictures, this vanilla image popped into my brain so I went with it.  I pulled in one of last year's All About Autumn DSP patterns for the background panel (ironically, it has a photo of books on the other side) and popped up the vanilla image on a scrap of Soft Sea Foam cut with the Radiating Stitches dies.  Are those still in the online store?  A few champagne rhinestones and I have another fall-adjacent card to send out soon.

That's it for me, peeps.  I'm going to see if I can make another card before dinnertime : )  Cheers!

Tranquil Turtle

Mornin' y'all!  How's your week going so far?  I had a nasty headache most of the day yesterday but I didn't let that stop me from working in my craft room...I finally landed on a color combination for my problem scrapbook pages and they're 75% done now, plus I got a card made to share today.  Here it is:

So probably a couple of years ago now (I forget when exactly), I bought the very old retired stamp set Nature Prints on eBay (not to be confused with Nature's Prints, which just retired this year).  It's four images, the largest one being this sea turtle, and this is the first time I've used it for a card.  I was inspired to go with a sea theme by the inspo pic at Sunday Stamps:

I was actually looking for a specific stamp set with a sand dollar in it when I took a left turn and arrived at the sea turtle.  From the picture, I used the top three colors, which I translated as Copper Clay, Soft Sea Foam, and Mossy Meadow.  I stamped the sea turtle in Mossy Meadow ink that I stamped off once to get a lighter shade, and it's on a scrap of long-retired Tranquil Textures DSP just because I thought it would look cool.  This is another card where I didn't have a sketch so I kinda just played with pieces until I arrived at something I liked.  The background panel is from the just recently retired Earthen Textures DSP, I thought it kinda works for seaweed or something like that, and I just liked the texture with the style of the sea turtle stamp.  The sentiment is from Notes of Nature, which also just retired.

That's it for me today, y'all.  Have a good 'un!

SUO Challenges Gets Sketchy

Mornin' y'all!  I have a bunch of things to do today, from the not-fun but necessary (paperwork, cleaning house) to the fun (finishing up the scrapbook pages I started yesterday) but first we have a new challenge from SUO Challenges!

Yep, it's a sketch, check it out:

I had to ponder this one for a while and isn't there a national flag that looks like that?  That's what it kept making me think of but then I got my brain working in a different direction and here's what I made:

I finally broke into the Nature's Sweetness DSP (I actually made this card before the one I posted on Sunday as I try to work ahead for design team commitments) and paired it with Notes of Nature, which is retiring.  Lovely & Sweet is the other bundle in this mega suite and it's not retiring, but I am more drawn to this one.  The DSP is all neutrals with Pebbled Path and gold, but I wanted to pull in a color so I went with Shaded Spruce, probably because I had used it on a couple of cards about a week ago and it was on my mind.  I ended up with a nice little card that isn't overly feminine.

Anyway, I hope you'll give this sketch a shot and post your card over on the SUO Challenges blog.  As always, have fun!

Ink:  Pebbled Path, VersaMark

Papaya Herbal Tea

Happy Friday, y'all!  And today is extra happy, we're picking up the hubs at the airport this morning and we haven't seen him since Christmas.  And we get him for a whole week!  All of us are ready for this deployment to be over, but at least we're over 2/3 there now.

Anyway, here's my card for today:

I won't lie, I was initially stumped when I saw the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, but then I had the idea to break out my retired Watercolor Shapes stamp set and sponge ink on the circle to make a more CAS background for my card.  Everything else just kinda followed from there.  Here's the sketch:

And I used this week's Color Throwdown:

I used Pale Papaya, Soft Succulent, and Very Vanilla for my colors, though looking at this again I kinda wish I'd gone with Petal Pink.  Well, the Pale Papaya works fine, even if it's a bit more orange than the inspo pic.

Have a great day, y'all!

A Little Note

Hey y'all, happy Saturday!  I usually don't post on Saturdays, but there were just so many good challenges this week that I couldn't fit them all in : )  So a little bonus card for today:

I got the Notes of Nature bundle in my most recent order, and pretty much the rest of the product suite is on its way to me now.  My card for today is 4 1/4" square to follow this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

And here is this week's Color Throwdown:

I used Shaded Spruce (the lighter Stampin' Blend), Boho Blue, and Crumb Cake for my simple little card.  At first I was going to do a Boho Blue mat around the main panel, but then I sponged the edges instead to keep it simple.  There's a yoga video that I do periodically and the yoga instructor says "Simplicity is always freeing" and I think that is appropriate for this card.

That's it for me today.  In just a couple of minutes, we've got to get Ryan ready to go--he's got a taekwondo tournament this morning.  Should be fun to watch.  Cheers!
