Pink Cherry

Hey y'all!  I couldn't let a few challenges get by without making a card for them, so special Sunday post this weekend.  Here's my card:

It's hard for me to get pictures in my craft room sometimes.  If it's bright sun then I end up with harsh shadows, but if it's TOO cloudy then the colors come out wonky.  For my super PINK card today, I used Polished Pink and Magenta Madness, with a wee bit of Pear Pizzazz thrown in.  I've said it before, but when I first saw Polished Pink I thought UGH we do NOT need another PINK but having played with it now I do really like it :D

Three challenges today!  Let's start with As You See It:

I drive past the tulip field every day so I almost said tulips, but then I started having thoughts of Japan and we have a cherry tree in our yard so I had to go with cherry blossoms!  Which is handy given the inspiration challenge from Hand Stamped Sentiments:

OH YES!  Aren't those gorgeous pictures?  It was fun for me to stamp the cherry blossoms from the recently retired Butterfly Wishes in Polished Pink instead of doing something really delicate like the retired Pink Pirouette.  Cherry blossoms do come in a variety of colors :)

Last up is the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches:

I pre-ordered the handy dandy Basic Borders dies which made my card super easy to put together.  Gotta love that!

Hope you have a great Sunday, y'all!

Supplies, all SU!

Ink:  Polished Pink, Magenta Madness, Pear Pizzazz

SUO Challenges: Spring

Hey y'all!  How is your social distancing going?  They Y has closed its childcare for at least two weeks, so I get no break from Ryan until quiet time (and sometimes he's not great at the "quiet" part), and I had to cancel my girls' weekend trip, which makes me sad.  But yesterday, our first day of pseudo-quarantine, actually went okay.  I was going to do my Scrappy Monday blog post, but our mouse was D-E-D dead, so instead I read a book and really enjoyed it ;)  Ryan behaved pretty well, the weather was nice so he got to play outside and get dirty, and I managed not to bust into the stash of brownie mix on day 1.  So, success.

And today it's time for a new challenge as SUO Challenges.

The theme this time is SPRING!  My brain was going international...I kept thinking about the song "I love Paris in the springtime" and also how the appearance of cherry blossoms is the herald of spring in Japan, and that's how I ended up with cherry blossoms on the Eiffel Tower.

And since today is St. Patrick's Day, I had to use green too!  The card base and DSP are Mint Macaron.  Yeah, I could have picked a brighter shade of green, but I wanted something soft and pretty for my spring card.  Whenever I want to send this, I can stamp a sentiment on the inside if I want to.

Okay, Ryan wants me to watch Paw Patrol with him, so that's next on our agenda for quarantine.  If you get a chance, make a spring-inspired card and share it with us at SUO Challenges.  We'd love to see!

CAS Cherry Blossoms

Howdy, folks!  Happy Friday.  How has your week been?  It was rainy all day yesterday, rained a lot last night, and now, although it's not raining, it's very very windy--we've had some power flickers due to the wind!  But at least the sun's out...a little bit.

So!  I still had Positive Thoughts out on my stamping table yesterday and I thought I'd use a sentiment from it for today's card, along with some flowers from Butterfly Wishes which I haven't used often enough.  I love the font in Positive Thoughts!  Here's my CAS card for today:

I was just feelin' the super simple vibe thanks to the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch:

I combined that with the colors from Color Throwdown:

Isn't that a pretty inspiration photo?  I didn't stray too far from it with my floral card ;)  I used Night of Navy, Seaside Spray, and Rococo Rose for my colors, nice to play with the In Colors.  I added a couple of gold glitter enamel dots to the flower centers and called it done.

Oooh, the hubs just called--he's on his way to work and the wind knocked a sign into his truck.  Wonder how bad the damage is?  Hope your Friday is off to a less exciting start!

First Autumn Card of the Year

Happy Sunday!  My box o' brand new Stampin' Up! goodies didn't arrive until after 5:30 on Friday afternoon, so I didn't get to ink up my new stamps until yesterday.  This was my holiday catalog preorder, so I had to make the first fall card of the year!  Lookie:

I used the new Gather Together stamp set and Come to Gather DSP for this.  You see the green pattern on the sentiment piece?  That was an accident.  For the leaf, I did a light watercolor wash, dried it with my heat tool, and then stamped the leaf outline in Mossy Meadow ink.  Well, the ink on that part wasn't dry when I ran it through my die cut machine, and it got ink on the plates, but I didn't know that until I die cut the sentiment part.  I thought it looked kinda neat, so I left it.  Oh yeah, the sentiment is cut out with the Ornate Frames dies which coordinate with a cute Halloween set (which I also bought).  Those frame dies are going to be useful for SO MUCH more than just Halloween though!

Anyway, I had to play along with the 400th sketch celebration at Freshly Made Sketches:

I forgot the trio of embellishments in the corner, oops.  I combined that with the color challenge from Global Design Project:

I love the new Come to Gather DSP, and it has Merry Merlot and Pretty Peacock in it.

Hope y'all are having a good weekend.  I'm off to the grocery store to get food for dinner tonight...cheers!
