Golden Anniversary

Mornin' y'all!  I had to roust Ryan out of bed at nine o'clock this morning, he is really settling into Summer Mode quickly.  But that will be a problem for his grandparents for the next few days ;)

It's been very overcast here of late so I couldn't get a better picture of today's card:

My parents' 5oth wedding anniversary is on June 15, and tomorrow they're leaving on an Alaska cruise with some friends of theirs who got married like four days before my parents did, so it's a double anniversary cruise.  I used a scrap of glimmer paper for the numbers and I'm not 100% sure if it was gold or champagne, but I figured sparkles were in order for this card.  I have seen pictures from my parents' wedding and I know their wedding color was light blue and my mom had a bouquet of daisies, so that's why I had to use a piece of the Fresh as a Daisy DSP that just retired.  I let the DSP  and sparkly numbers do the work and kept the rest of my card very simple.

The Inspire. Create. theme challenge is what reminded me that I really ought to make a card for this ;)

So thanks to the Inspire. Create. team for the gentle push to get this card made, otherwise I probably would have forgotten.

That's it for me today, y'all.  I've got to chivvy Ryan along so he'll be ready to go when his grandparents get here (so far he is lollygagging).  Then I have to run a few errands and after that I will hopefully be spending some time in my craft room.  Cheers!

Stonehenge (Again)

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Most of the time, I don't scrap chronologically; I prefer to jump around as inspiration takes me.  Since Ryan came along though, I've been scrapping everything from his birth chronologically, but I alternate between those pages and older ones that I hadn't gotten to yet.  So here's some older pics that just got scrapped this summer:

See the original pics here.  Not gonna lie, I'm ready for some cooler weather here.  I haven't even had any tea for over a week because it's been so hot!

Today's color palette was inspired by the sunset picture on the left page:  Purple Posy, Petal Pink, Pool Party, and Smoky Slate.  Haven't been able to scrap lately after being sick with Covid and I'm going to have Ryan home with me for the next couple of weeks.  Maybe when he starts school I'll be able to scrap more.

Cheers!

Look Who's Turning 2

Scrappy Monday, friends!  Today is Ryan's birthday and he's turning FOUR and I don't know when he got so big but he did and he keeps telling me he's never going to stop growing no matter what I say.  Today I'm taking a break from the Disney cruise pictures to share layouts from Ryan's second birthday (since I've been scrapping chronologically from his birth, I haven't gotten to #3 yet).

I loved Bonanza Buddies that came out last year and the coordinating paper, I was a little sad they didn't carry over but since I never get rid of stamps anyway it's not like it matters to my collection.  Obviously the hubs took all the pictures because he's not in any of them, the same thing happened last Christmas and I really need to work on that.

Before Ryan was even born, I had gotten a star-shaped cake pan to make his first birthday cake in and then we were in the big fat middle of moving house on his first birthday so we did a store-bought cake.  So I did get out the star pan for this birthday and made a red velvet cake (hubs' favorite, but we all like it and Ryan hadn't tried enough cake varieties to have his own favorite) with cream cheese frosting.

Here's a rather dark picture of today's color palette, which is much brighter and more fun than this picture would have you believe:  Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, Basic Black, and Whisper White.  Love it.  Also last week I discovered that if I take all my stuff out on the little balcony on the front of our house when it's cloudy out, I can actually get good pictures of my scrapbook layouts and color palettes.  Bit of a pain dragging things out there but worth it to get better photos, I think.

Have a great week, peeps!  We're eating lots more birthday cake tonight :D

Ryan: 40 Weeks

Saturday once again, woo!  And I'm back with another layout from Ryan's baby book.  Yep, we're a couple of layouts in and we still haven't gotten to him being born yet ;)  But this one has my favorite prego picture!

We didn't take a lot of pictures while I was pregnant, but happened to take a few on Ryan's due date.  I love that one on the left!  I've never seen anyone else take a prego pic from that angle and I think it's hilarious.  I was 7 months pregnant when Rogue One came out (about how the Rebels got the Death Star plans) so I would joke that this gray shirt was my Death Star cosplay.

After Ryan's due date came and went, I posted in my giant nerd group on Facebook that nothing was happening and I was grumpy about it, and one of the other nerds quoted me this Shel Silverstein poem.  I liked it so much I had to include it here.

Today's color palette includes Basic Gray, Crushed Curry, Wild Wasabi, Brilliant Blue, and Whisper White.  I use SO MUCH bright blue in my scrapbooks, so with Blueberry Bushel (very similar to Brilliant Blue) about to retire, I just bought several packs of it.  Love that color.

Have a great weekend, y'all!

29 Again, Part 1

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  How was your weekend?  I've been battling, but I think I am finally succumbing to the cold my husband so kindly shared with me :p  I have a feeling that the Kleenex box is going to be my best friend for a while.

Buuuut I do have a scrapbook layout to share today!  I wanted to share this last month when I turned 40, but I was still waiting to get some reprints of photos in the mail.  Better late than never, right?

This was my 30th birthday...I stayed 29 for several years ;)  At this time, we were living in/on Okinawa (seriously, do you live in an island or on it?) and I was working at the OG.  My friend Connie, the other secretary, has a birthday a few days before mine, so that's her birthday flowers on the left.  She was responsible for getting me "the geekiest cake she could find" for my birthday--Star Trek!  And then my hubs showed up and put up an Elmo pinata and a sign...not sure why my turning 30 necessitated beating up a super-annoying Muppet, but we did.

Today's color palette includes Pacific Point, Cameo Coral, Real Red, Summer Sun, Basic Black, and Whisper White.  I've got more layouts from this birthday to share next week.  In the meantime, hope you're staying healthy!  Cheers.

Cocok's Toes 2010

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Today's scrapbook layout is the very LAST of the Cocok's toe photos from when we lived in Japan, so if you're foot averse then that's good news for you :D

I always took photos of my friends' toes as well as my own when we got our super fancy pedicures, so the white circles have the initial of whichever friend those toes belong to (all the toes pointing upwards are mine, because that's how my toes look when I look down, heh).

These were all the toe photos for 2010 minus what I had on the Last Call at Cocok's layout.  Also, I'm glad I bought the Number of Years stamp set and matching Framelits, I've been using those and the coordinating (and still current) Letters for You alphabet pretty regularly since I bought them.

This was another layout that I did when I was on my Barely Banana streak, but this time I didn't pair it with Poppy Parade.  Today's color palette includes Barely Banana, Pretty in Pink, Cool Caribbean, Lavender Lace (looks funky in that palette picture), and Whisper White.  That Petals & Paisleys DSP (the Cool Caribbean polka dot strip) is one of the earliest DSP packs I ever bought from SU!  Actually a lot of things I used on this layout are pretty old, like the Simply Said stamp set.  This is why I hold onto stuff though, never know when it will turn out to be just the thing for a scrapbook layout.

I'm going to go tackle the mountain of leftover waffles from yesterday (I'm sure you feel sorry for me, haha!) and then tiny child and I are going to the gym.  Hopefully he won't lose his marbles like he did on Saturday; I didn't get to do yoga because I had to come get him when he wouldn't stop crying.  So here's hoping today is better.  Cheers!

Happy 1st Anniversary

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  The hubs and I will have our fourteenth wedding anniversary this Wednesday, so today seems like a great time to share this layout from our very first anniversary!

We went out with our friend Liz and she took these pictures for us; that one on the top right is what went out with our Christmas cards that year.

I just absolutely HAD to buy Number of Years and Letters for You for this layout; I still need the matching Framelits for both but those letter ones are $100!  (So many stamps I could buy for $100...but I do really want those Framelits too!)

I used acorns for accents because they're seasonally appropriate and also hubs and I are a little bit nuts.  The patterned paper is from a very old set called Outlaw and I love it.

Today's fall color palette includes Really Rust, Sage Shadow, Handsome Hunter, Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel, and Very Vanilla, all of which are retired except for Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla.  I'm down to just a teeny bit of Handsome Hunter cardstock...well, at least I think I'm down to just two pieces of 12x12 so I'm hoarding those.  Don't think I have a lot of the 8.5x11 either.  Unfortunately, I have discovered that one can buy more retired SU! cardstock on eBay, so if I do run out I know where to look ;)

Okay, y'all.  I think the wee babe wants out of his bouncer so he can go wander all over the house and I'm going to put the dogs' water bowl up before I release him from bouncy jail.  Ha!  TTFN, y'all!
