CAS Christmas, Part 2

Hey y'all!  I had intended to write this post in the morning before I went to work, but I ran out of time :) I'm back with the other three card designs I made for my husband's work.

I got Lots of Cheer right before it retired and then didn't have a chance to ink it up, so I'm glad this cute boxy snowman finally gets his chance to appear!  The outside sentiment is from First Frost, and inside says Happy Holidays from Warmest Regards.

Kinda wish I'd done the mittens in blue and the sentiment in green, but I didn't have that thought until I'd already made most of the cards so oh well.  The mittens are from Merry (long, long retired!) and the sentiment is from Warmth & Wonder.  You may notice that all of the sentiments on the card fronts have something to do with warmth, guess that's my theme this year!

Last up is a cup of cocoa from Scentsational Season.  And that's all my cards!  I think making 65 cards in a single day is a personal best for me ;)  I was very productive at work for the past few days too, and I'd like to relax tomorrow for my day off but nope, looks like I'll be making desserts for a potluck thing in the afternoon.  I do like to bake though...

Cheers, y'all!  Stay toasty.

Niagara Falls, Part 2

Scrappy Monday!  As promised, I'm back with part 2 of Niagara Falls pictures, with two layouts for the price of one today.

I kept the same color combination as the first layout, but used Mint Macaron for the page base instead of Tranquil Tide.  The Frosted Floral DSP I used has a bit of a sheen to it, which adds a special touch to these pages.

I kicked myself a bit after I finished these; I had an 8x10 of that picture of the waterfall (bottom left) and I FORGOT I had the enlargement when I made the pages.  But I didn't want to redo any of this either.

Same color palette as last time:  Tranquil Tide, Mint Macaron, Blackberry Bliss, Night of Navy, and Whisper White.

Cheers, y'all!

Stamps:  First Frost, Rooted in Nature
Ink:  Tranquil Tide, Night of Navy, Blackberry Bliss
Paper:  Mint Macaron, Tranquil Tide, Night of Navy, Blackberry Bliss, Thick Whisper White, Frosted Floral DSP

Niagara Falls, Part 1

Scrappy Monday!  I've run out of draft posts of Europe scrapbook pages, so today we're going to Canada instead.

In September of 2017, we drove up to New York to visit our friends Scott and Tiana, and then all of us drove up to Niagara Falls and spent several days on the Canadian side.  (Ryan was only seven months old so he won't remember it at all.)  The Falls were *amazing* and I could totally have spent hours just watching the water.

The water is a really neat green-blue color, which drove my color palette choices:  Tranquil Tide, Mint Macaron, Blackberry Bliss, Night of Navy, and Whisper White.

Stay tuned for part 2 coming next Monday!

And Now a Baby Ewok

Hey hey hey it's Friday!  Hope your week is going well.

I said yesterday that I needed two baby shower cards this week, so here is the second one:

Oooh non-SU stamp on this one! I'm going to a baby shower tomorrow for a gal who loves Star Wars about as much as I do.  I got this Ewok stamp set to use in my future nephew's baby book and of course I had to use it for this card too :)  I used the same congratulations stamp as yesterday because it was already out on my table so that was convenient.

Here's the Global Design Project sketch I used:

And the color palette from Color Throwdown:

I used Crumb Cake for the card base, Soft Suede for the Ewok, and Old Olive for my green.  I pulled out some retired epoxy dots for a touch of gold in the upper left corner to help balance out the Ewok and sentiment on the right.  Very quick card, but since I'm a naptime crafter, I have to be fast!

Hope you have a great Friday, y'all.  Cheers!

Supplies:

Stamps:  First Frost, Confetti, Furball stamp set from The Ink Road
Ink:  Soft Suede, Old Olive, Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:  Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Thick Whisper White

Wee Baby Panda

Mornin' y'all!  I have been hard at work on my scrapbooks lately but yesterday I sat down and made cards for two upcoming baby showers.  So up first is the one I made for my sister-in-law, whose little boy is due on my kid's 3rd birthday :)

My brother used to collect panda stuff when he was younger so I thought this stamp from Wildly Happy was just perfect.  I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, then colored with watercolor pencils.  Pretty quick and easy.

Check out this week's sketch from Freshly Made Sketches:

I like it!  And the theme challenge from Paper Players:

Obviously I went for baby as my something new, ha.  Although I still have a pile of new stamps I need to play with!  However, my goal this year is to focus on scrapbooking rather than cards (I have a large pile of cards I've made and never sent out), so most likely I won't be making as many cards this year.  I'm already up to 10 pages done for my scrapbook goal though, so that's pretty awesome.

Have a great day, y'all!

Best Rococo Rose

Hey y'all, how's it going?  So far this week is starting off well, much better than last week :)  So here's a cute card for today:

Ahh, I hate it when I don't take pictures of my cards until late in the afternoon and then the colors look a little wonky in the photo.  This looks nicer IRL so I may have to take the picture again.  Anyway, I started with the Global Design Project challenge:

I wanted to use the same-ish colors as the picture, so I went with Sahara Sand for the card base, Rococo Rose, Soft Sea Foam, and Balmy Blue.  I also did a similar idea for the layout, with die-cut shapes over a cardstock strip, but I used the sketch from the Paper Players:

Uh, tall & skinny cards are the same as short & fat cards, right? ;) I turned the sketch 90 degrees to the left because I wanted to be able to put my sentiment on the cardstock strip.  I should have used a darker green for the leaf stamp because the stamp just blends into the watercolor because Soft Sea Foam is so pale, but at least you can see the detail on the rose.  For both pieces, I inked up my stamp with Versamark and then the ink color, stamped, and quickly set with clear powder.  And that's how you get stamped outlines in any color that don't run when you watercolor.

Okay y'all, have a great day.  Cheers!

Birthday Frost

Mornin' y'all!  How's your week going?  I am THISCLOSE to finishing Ryan's baby book...I have, like, under a half dozen layouts left to do, so I've been working on that as much as I can, but I still made a card to share today.

I used this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

And paired it with this particularly lovely color combination from Color Throwdown:

I used Rich Razzleberry, Mint Macaron, Tranquil Tide, and Very Vanilla for my colors, and the retired Frosted Floral Specialty DSP, which has a pearly sheen to it.  Tranquil Tide (retired) was the closest color I could think of for that third splat.  Love these colors together.

Hope you have a great day, peeps!

Christmas Roses

Mornin', y'all!  I didn't intend to miss posting yesterday, but on Tuesday afternoon I ran out of steam and when the little one went down for a nap, so did I.  But now I'm all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and I have a card to share!

I do love the First Frost stamp set, so of course I had to play along in this week's What Will You Stamp? challenge:

I used the Fab Friday sketch:

And the inspiration picture from Fusion:
As much as I love the Frosted Floral DSP that coordinates with First Frost (and I do), I really wanted to get away from the colors in that, so no Blackberry Bliss or Powder Pink or Tranquil Tide.  But I found that Soft Suede stripey pattern in the DSP and loved it to go with this inspiration picture, and that's how I decided to make my roses red.  They're stamped on Shimmery White cardstock and then I painted Wink of Stella on them so they're extra shimmery.

As my card says, I'm wishing you all the best.  Have a great day!

Frosty Roses

And how are you this fine Wednesday morning?  Ryan and I will soon be on our way to the gym so I can do pilates and run two miles while he plays in the nursery and eats snacks.  I actually do enjoy going to the gym six days a week.

But first, a card!  A shimmery card.

I love that the Frosted Floral DSP has a shimmer to it, and of course that means I have to pair it with Shimmery White cardstock.  You can see some of the shimmer where the camera flash caught it just under the roses.  I used the latest sketch from Palmtrees and Pogo Sticks:

And the color combination from Just Us Girls:

Technically I used two greens for my combination, Mint Macaron and Tranquil Tide; the other colors are Night of Navy and Fresh Fig.  Blackberry Bliss is the purple that's featured in the Frosted Floral DSP, but I feel like I haven't used Fresh Fig very much so I went with that instead.  I was going for a rich regal take on the colors.  I made the mottled Fresh Fig background by grabbing the "cloud" stamp from Spooky Sweets and stamping it off twice before stamping on my card base.  Love how that turned out!  And it shows you that a Halloween set is more than a one-trick pony.

Dangit, I just realized I had meant to add some glitter epoxy shapes to my card and I forgot to do it before I took the photo.  Oh well, next time!

Have a great day, peeps!

Frosted Autumn Bouquet

Happy Friday, y'all!  The hubs has today off of work so we're going to do what I normally do on Fridays and go to the gym :D  Friday is yoga day!  And also running day.

But guess what.  I have a shiny shimmery birthday card to share today!

I used all Shimmery White cardstock and the Frosted Floral DSP has a lovely pearly sheen to it as well, which is why it reflected the camera flash a little bit.  And the sequins are iridescent, sequins are hard to photograph.

Check out this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

In related and very exciting news, my baby bear card was chosen as a Princess for last week's sketch challenge!  Squee!!

I also used this week's Color Throwdown:

I used Blackberry Bliss, Call Me Clover, Crushed Curry, and Poppy Parade for my colors, plus the aforementioned Shimmery White.  And I'll be sending this card out in the mail today to a friend whose birthday was...yesterday.  Well, I made the card on her birthday, so that counts as sorta on time, right?

Cheers, y'all!

Blackberry Frost

Mornin' y'all!  I had a headache yesterday and didn't particularly feel like working in my craft room, so I just sat there and stared at stamps for probably a good five minutes and then I got an eye-dear (idea) and I made a card and I'm glad I stayed in there for a bit while the kiddo was sleeping.  Behold!

Here's my second card with First Frost (so is this second frost?) and I like it better.  And also meet the Frosted Floral Specialty DSP, which has a lovely pearl sheen to it which is why it reflected the camera flash a bit when I took the picture.  And I used the coordinating Frosted Bouquet Framelits to cut out the flowers and leaves...the leaves are actually part of a larger stamp, I just snipped off the bits I wanted to use here.

I used the Global Design Project CASE the Designer challenge as my starting point:

I used the same basic layout, some flowers, and a shade of purple, but the holiday catalog has a couple of DSP options with Blackberry Bliss patterns and I'm in love with them and that's why I went with that shade of purple.  (And then I chose a pattern that doesn't have purple on it, but the rest of the stack does!)

And here's a picture to make you giggle:

This is my girl Sadie 12 years ago, the one and only time she decided to attack toilet paper.  The next scrapbook layout I plan to make will feature this little miscreant and her TP adventure :)

Cheers, y'all!

Autumn Frost

Hey kids!  How's your Thursday going?  I've got to take kiddo to the doctor for his 18-month checkup and he's going to get shots, so my morning is going to be not so fun.

So let's start with a card.

So I got a couple of new stamp sets from the upcoming holiday catalog, and I find it amusing that I used a stamp set called First Frost to make a card with a buncha yellows and oranges.  I'm not really in love with this card though; the idea looked a lot better in my head than it turned out I think.  I do really love this stamp set though so I'll give it another go...and there's some coordinating patterned paper that is GORGEOUS.

I started with this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

And I actually followed the sketch exactly this time.  Then I added in the Paper Players color challenge:

This is the color combination I was talking about yesterday where I thought I'd give a brayer background another try, but instead I sponged the colors on the circle element and the rest of the card is neutrals.  I tried it with a black card base, and a white one, and I thought any of the challenge colors would just be orange/yellow overload, which is how I landed on Smoky Slate.

At any rate, I'm gonna take the kiddo up to the Y this morning so we keep our routine as close to normal as we can, and then it's off to the doc.  Wish us luck.  Cheers, y'all!
