January 2020

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  I think I've finally shaken the headache that had been with me since Friday, I did my workout this morning, and I'm feeling pretty good.  I worked on some scrapbook pages yesterday until my headache made me stop, and then I stitched on Ryan's duckling and watched Criminal Minds while the guys were out of the house.  It was a good day other than the headache : )

So I have a layout to share today that I made over two years ago with pictures from three four five years ago.  What year are we?!

I know the colors are more Valentine-y, but I chose pink and red because of the Panera cookie Ryan is eating in one picture, plus the red stripes on his Captain America jacket and Sadie's red collar.  The doggo in the lower right was a stray that we picked up on our way home from the Y one day; I called and left a message on the phone number on his collar but it took the owner almost the entire day to contact me back and he seemed confused about why I didn't let his dog just continue to wander along a busy road.  Some people should NOT have pets.  Harrumph.  Sadie also said harrumph, she laid on the floor between me and the other dog to establish her ownership of me, but she also refused to look at me because she was Most Displeased that I had brought that interloper into her domain.  Queen Bee.  And then the bath pictures on the left are just for funsies, Ryan playing in the tub.

Today's Panera-inspired palette:  Flirty Flamingo, Real Red, Basic Gray, and Whisper White.

That's it for me today, peeps.  As usual, I'm taking Daphne for a tour of the neighborhood and then maybe I'll get some crafty time before we take Ryan to a doctor's appointment.  It's Ryan's last day of winter break and then tomorrow Daph and I will have the house to ourselves for a while : )  Cheers!

Merry Christmas 2019

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  And today is a day to celebrate--our master shower is FINALLY operational after 3 months!!!  The hubs and the kid tried it out last night and I took a shower in there this morning.  So glad to have our entire bathroom back!  Daphne was a bit confused about the whole thing as the shower was torn up well before we adopted her.  Once she saw the water turned on, she decided that she wanted nothing to do with that and noped out : )

Anyway, I have a couple of scrapbook layouts to share from 2019, so here they are:

AAAAACCCKKK Ryan is such a cutie.  This Christmas was in North Carolina and my parents came out to spend Christmas with us.  Of course almost everything under the tree was for Ryan and he loved opening up all the presents.  In fact, he would offer to "help" everyone else open up theirs too!

I love the side-eye from Ryan in that smallest picture on the left page.  And I love the fun patterned paper I chose for this, high energy for our high energy kiddo.

Today's festive color palette:  Real Red, Pear Pizzazz, Mossy Meadow, Pacific Point, and Whisper White.  I rather miss Pear Pizzazz or Certainly Celery, I would trade out Soft Sea Foam for one of those colors in a heartbeat.

Gotta get Ryan to school, this is his last week before winter break.  Cheers!

Supplies, all SU!
Stamps:  Snowman Season, Pure & Simple Numbers, #Elfie
Ink:  Mossy Meadow, Real Red, Memento Tuxedo Black, Stampin' Blends in neutrals, Petal Pink, Old Olive, Mossy Meadow, Real Red, Night of Navy, Smoky Slate

December 2019

Scrappy Monday!  Right before we had to get Ryan out the door to go to school, it started snowing, and two hours later, it's still coming down.  I'm still debating if I want to take Daphers out for a walk or not.  I mean, I'm all snug in the house and I have...oop, HAD...a cup of tea and I can make another one.  Decisions!

Also we have two guys working on putting the tile in our shower!  We might get to use our own shower by the end of the week for the first time in three months!!!!!  More exclamation points!!!!!!  Very exciting.

Okay, time for a scrapbook layout.

I loooooove that DSP with the snowflakes!  And it color matched that quilt that Ryan and the hubs are under on the left page perfectly.  This is another of my catch-all monthly layouts and I can't believe how much Ryan has grown since then.  My little boy is not so little anymore.

Today's color palette:  Pear Pizzazz, Pacific Point, Shaded Spruce, Balmy Blue, and Whisper White.

That's it for me today, peeps.  Think I might take Daphne out to enjoy the snow (she's stressed out with the guys here working) and then have another cuppa.  Cheers!

Stars & Stripes Forever

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Ryan and I are very excited that it's July--today we'll have our FINAL monthly ice cream date and we can count down the days until our reunion with the hubs on ONE HAND.  So today's layout is a celebration too!

We were allowed to have fireworks at our house in North Carolina, so the hubs bought some and we had a little fireworks show in our driveway in 2020.  This time the hubs gave Ryan some headphones to cut down on the noise so he wasn't scared like he had been the year before--he loved it!  And I had fun choosing fireworks and stars images for this layout.

Today's patriotic palette:  Real Red, Pool Party, Blueberry Bushel, Night of Navy, and Whisper White.

Have a great day, peeps!

Supplies, all SU!

Ryan Turns 3

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Well, true to my word, I did start working on my wedding album on Friday.  So far it's just planning which pictures to use on each layout, but I've firmed up my color scheme and what papers I'm using, so once I get the pages planned out it should go very quickly.  Hopefully I start getting things stuck down in the next day or two.

Anyway, for today I have a couple of layouts from Ryan's birthday in 2020!

Y'all, he's turning SEVEN this Thursday!  Can't believe it.  Anyway, shortly before his third birthday he suddenly became a big fan of Paw Patrol so that made shopping for him very easy.  As I was working on my 2020 pages last year, I wondered if there were any Paw Patrol stamps out there, and as it happens there are!  I had to have them shipped to my mom and then she sent them to me as the seller wouldn't ship to an APO address, but I got them.  I'm a little sad that Ryan isn't much into Paw Patrol anymore, but what can ya do.

We took him to the local ice cream place which also makes very good cupcakes, and invited a few friends who have kids around Ryan's age so he had a great time.  His big present that year was a Nugget, which is a set of cushions that you can move around to make forts or use as a pallet in front of the TV or whatever.  He still likes playing with that.

Today's color palette is a variation on a Superman theme:  Barely Banana (I'm very glad to have Lemon Lolly in the current color lineup, it's similar to Barely Banana and not muted like So Saffron), Balmy Blue, Real Red, Blueberry Bushel, and white.

We'll be doing a family get-together for Ryan's birthday this Saturday so I'll take lots of pictures for future scrapbook pages.  Cheers!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Pure & Simple Alphabet Upper, Sweets & Treats, Paw Patrol stamps from Melissa & Doug
Ink:  Real Red, Memento Tuxedo Black, Blends in Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Smoky Slate, Soft Suede, Night of Navy, Ivory; Balmy Blue & Basic Gray markers

Snow Much Fun!

Mornin' y'all and finally the first Scrappy Monday of 2024.  Right now we're smack in the middle of a cold snap and we got just a little bit of snow last night, so Ryan has been out playing in it this morning.  So I picked a snowy layout to share today, this one from four years ago.

That was our house in NC and there was enough snow for a little snowman on the picnic table.  That deck area was nice (though it deteriorated quickly because the landlord didn't seal it properly, not from anything we did to it) and I kinda miss it, I know Ryan misses the duck pond out back.  He wants a duck pond at our next house and refuses to believe that won't be tops on the list of requirements as we look at houses.  Anyway, back to 2020, we didn't have real snow gear for Ryan so to keep his feet dry we tied some plastic bags around is feet and legs.  Silly looking, but it worked!  And then he wanted to eat the snow, so we brought in a chunk of it and he had a snack.  Now he does have actual snow boots and instead of eating the snow, he's drinking some apple cider.

Today's wintry color combination:  Balmy Blue, Pacific Point, and Whisper White.

Time for me to go get in my cocoon of blankets on the love seat and watch some shows with Ryan.  I'm already several cups of tea into the day so far : )

Halloween Bats

Happy Saturday, y'all!  I've got two more cards that I want to share today : )

You didn't think I'd miss out on my weekly mashup of Freshly Made Sketches and Color Throwdown, did you?  Here's the sketch:

And the Color Throwdown:

I used Pumpkin Pie, Night of Navy, Crushed Curry, and Pool Party for the colors, and went pretty CAS with the sketch.  I love Spooky Sweets from 2018 and I usually manage to pull it out at least once every year for spooky season.

Bonus card today:

Ryan was invited to a birthday party that's happening this afternoon for a girl in his class; the invitation had a unicorn on it in pretty pastel colors so we started with that as our inspiration.  Ryan chose the patterned paper and did the stamping and coloring on the unicorn; I did the sentiment because it was three separate pieces, and he did the die cutting.  So now we're ready for the party this afternoon.

Cheers, y'all!

August 2020

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  My in-laws took Ryan for the weekend, so despite not feeling quite up to snuff I was able to get a lot of things done, especially on Saturday.  I'd say I'm at 98% unpacked and organized; the big thing now is to work on doing the claim so we can be reimbursed for the stuff the movers damaged.  So I'll be working on that this afternoon and hope I can sneak in a little craft room time as well.

For this morning I am sneezing like crazy (is it allergies? I don't know) and ready to check out a scrapbook layout.

This is one of my catch-all layouts for an entire month, which is when we were getting moved out of North Carolina and getting ready to go to Germany.  We've lived in I think 9 houses over the last 20 years and I don't know that I have pictures of all of them, so I'm glad I thought to take a pic of our NC house before we left.

Today's color palette:  Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Shaded Spruce, Tahitian Tide, Pacific Point, and Whisper White.  It was fun deciding which color to use for each photo mat since I mixed them all up.

I'm off to yoga at the Y, then I'll be spending some quality time with Microsoft Excel working on that claim thing.  Cheers!

Gaggles of Goose Greetings

Hey y'all, how goes it?  After I posted on Monday, I called the moving company to ask when our stuff was going to be delivered but they didn't give me a date, so the hubs called them in the afternoon and was Quite Unhappy at them for taking so long (our stuff arrived in the DFW area on July 20, but they still wouldn't give me a delivery date) and now we're getting it next Friday.  I am very much looking forward to having my bed and couch back.  Not to mention all the contents of my craft room.

So yeah, I have no furniture in my craft room, but I do have my current stamp sets and ink pads, plus a few sheets of all the current cardstock colors (#priorities) so I spent some time in there yesterday.  Ryan came to find me after I'd only been in there for like three minutes, so we both made cards.  This is the first card I've made since the middle of May!

Yep, that Bright & Beautiful DSP stack again, I do quite like it.  I also quite like this week's multilayered sketch from the Paper Players:

I'd only used Silly Goose once before this, so it was long past time to ink up some of the other stamps in the set.  Very soon I shall have to make a Goose Bumps card : )  For today, I'm happy to take fancy Ms. Goose out for a spin in her fashionable hat.  This will be going to my friend Beth who likes frogs.  Thanks to the Paper Players for giving me an excuse to use this stamp set again, and I am so happy to have created something after such a long hiatus.

Ryan wanted to make a card too, so here is his creation:

He wanted to make a card for his dad from Peking (his favorite duck stuffie) and decided that a goose stamp was close enough to a duck for his purposes.  This time he wanted me to do the stamping, but he did all the die cutting, coloring, and adhering.  I told him geese usually are white but he insisted that his goose had to be yellow (Peking the stuffie is {more accurately, was} yellow with orange feet and beak, so the stamped goose had to match him).

So there you go, two goose greetings for the price of one!  I'm hoping to get into my craft room on a more regular basis, but that might not happen until Ryan starts school next month.  At least by then we'll have all our stuff so I won't be stamping on a windowsill.

Have a great day, peeps!

Supplies, all SU!, my card:

Let's Taco 'Bout It

Hey hey, happy Friday!  This is the first blog post I've actually written from our new house in Texas; we moved in two weeks ago.  We won't have all our stuff until probably close to the end of the month, but for now we have air mattresses, a couple of folding chairs, and the Internet, so it's enough to be doing with.

And Ryan officially made the first card in my new craft room, take a look:

He wanted to make a card for his dad, and since he didn't see any ducks in the stamps I have with me (I only brought the current sets, plus a bit of cardstock and a small collection of tools) he chose to go with tacos.  He helped with the die-cutting and did all the stamping and coloring and adhering himself.  I have no idea what could possibly be a BLUE taco filling, but he insisted.  And he put Wink of Stella on everything.

And there he is, hard at work!  For now, the work surface is limited to the windowsill, but we'll have the rest of our stuff soon enough.  Wonder how long it will take me to unpack everything all by my onesies?!  Ryan *says* he wants to help, but he gets bored pretty quickly.  I think he might be going to Camp Grandparents while I'm unpacking...

Cheers, y'all!

Cards for Peking

On Thursday I actually did manage to get several things done, and I rewarded myself with a bit of time in my craft room.  On Thursday morning, Ryan informed me that it was Peking's birthday--Peking is his favorite duck stuffie, and previously he had the same birthday as Ryan only he was a year younger.  Apparently ducks' birthdays are more changeable than people's birthdays.  So Ryan told me that Peking liked the color yellow, ducks, Batman, and Spiderman, and charged me with making a birthday card for him.

Yeah, I made a card for a stuffed animal.

I pulled out Barnyard Babies for this because it has a duckling stamp, and it fit in well with the Retro Rubber tic-tac-toe challenge.  And because I cannot resist a good pun, the inside says "Hope your day is just ducky!"  Here's the challenge graphic:

I went down the left side, with birthday, circle punches, and watercolor pencils to color the ducklings.  Thought it would be fun to break out the Butterfly Kisses DSP Stack again.  Barnyard Babies joined my collection in 2016, so it's a year older than Ryan ; )

The little duckling stamp also fit with the latest Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch:

So this was a fun card to put together as a diversion from the moving chaos, which is getting more chaotic by the day.  When Ryan got home, he was excited to see Peking's card, and he also wanted to make one himself, so he did.

Gotta love the fake smile.  You can see part of Peking on the craft table, too.  He's looking a bit shabby since he's been Ryan's daily companion for nearly all of Ryan's life.

And here is Ryan's creation:

He decided to stamp the chicks for his other stuffie, Chickie-Boo, and the ducklings for Peking.  I told him I didn't have Ryan stamps or Mama and Daddy stamps, so he drew the people on there, and lots and lots of hearts because he loves his duck.  Here's the inside:

Okay I am ded of teh cute.  At first he wanted to dictate to me what to write, but I encouraged him to do the writing and I just told him how to spell.  That word with the backwards Z is "amazing".  And the card is currently standing up on the windowsill in Ryan's room where Peking can see it.

For real now, I need to start packing things up in the craft room.  Ryan did help start on the ink pads on Thursday afternoon...I always rubber band them shut and then put each one in a plastic baggie just in case the ink pad leaks.  I've done this for every move for the last 15+ years and since we move so often I just keep the plastic baggies and rubber bands in a storage tote and reuse them.  And only once have I had an ink pad leak, but it was all contained in the baggie.

Maybe I'll make one last card before I pack 'em up stack 'em up...

Supplies, my card:
Stamps:  Barnyard Babies
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:  Crushed Curry, Starry Sky, Calypso Coral, Parakeet Party, Thick Basic White, Butterfly Kisses DSP Stack
Accessories:  Circle punches, watercolor pencils, Dimensionals

Cliffs of the Neuse

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  This week will be my last chance to do anything in my craft room as the packers get here NEXT MONDAY to start packing up all our stuff.  And really I should *probably* be getting stuff ready for that to happen, so I don't know how much stamping I'll get to do.  Guess we'll see how well I can manage my time this week.

Anyway!  I do have some scrapbook pages to share today, take a look:

Awww, Ryan was so little : )  These pics were taken in May of 2020 at the Cliffs of the Neuse State Park in North Carolina.  I figured we should probably go there once before we moved out of NC, so we did.  Just did a little hike, looked at the river, and took a couple of silly pictures.

Today's very fun color palette was inspired by my outfit because I like colors : )  Pixie Pink (though Polished Pink would have worked just fine too), Shaded Spruce, Parakeet Party, Starry Sky, Tempting Turquoise, and white.  Umm, I don't know if Starry Sky is my favorite blue, or if it's Azure Afternoon...guess it's a tie.

Okay, Imma go be productive.  Wish me luck!

April 2020

Scrappy Monday, y'all!  Hope you had a good weekend.  The hubs is off work and kiddo is off school today so we're going to go see a movie this afternoon.  We had a good Easter yesterday--the hubs talked Ryan out of trying to trap the Easter Bunny because then no one would get treats, so the Easter Bunny was free to leave Ryan a bucket with far too much candy (seriously, Ryan was on a serious sugar high before his parents even woke up yesterday), a couple of books and small toys, and a giant whoopie cushion.  Don't ask me why.  The weather was beautiful yesterday so we went for a bike ride in the afternoon and then had a nice ham for dinner, followed by cherry pie.  Usually I'd make dessert from scratch but I decided to be lazy, and I got a frozen cherry pie at the store for ONE DOLLAR.  No, it's not as good as homemade, but it sure took less time and effort on my part.

Anyway, on to the scrapbook pages!  Today's layout also has to do with food, this time cookies:

Nothing's Better Than and the coordinating Love You More Than dies are both retiring, I don't even know if they've sold out or not because I've owned them for years : )  I just used the dies here, the baking-related stamps on the left page are (gasp) non-SU.  Originally I had a small group of April pictures and then a set of bathtub barber shop pictures and planned to do two layouts, but when I got to them I elected to combine them for one layout.

I'm always looking for color combinations with either Real Red or Poppy Parade because red is Ryan's favorite color and I think at least 75% of his clothes are red.  This combination might have come from the Color Coach, but I think it worked with my photos:  Daffodil Delight, Poppy Parade, Lucky Limeade, and Whisper White.  You could easily sub in either Granny Apple Green or Old Olive for the Lucky Limeade, which has been retired for a long time.  Anyway, I had fun working on this layout and if I'm lucky, maybe I'll get some craft room time today even with my boys at home.

Have a great day, y'all!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Full Calendar, Made from Scratch (Newton's Nook)

March 2020

Scrappy Monday, y'all, and the start of Week 4 of the Cold That Would Not Go Away.  Still miserable.  Both the hubs and the kid are feeling better, at least, it's me that can't kick this thing.

Anyway, I have one of my more recent layouts to share today:

Pics are all from March of 2020, which is when the Covid lockdowns really started in the States, at least where we were.  I almost always angle stripey paper like that so it points upwards, because it seems more cheerful to me, but this time I chose to make it go downwards (and this is part of the Flowers & More DSP that's in the Occasions catalog, I love it!).  So most of the journaling block is about Covid, but I did some short captions on most of the pictures for what Ryan was doing.  Like how he chose is own all-red outfit.  I think that the 2022-24 In Colors might be my favorite batch so far for scrapbooking, I think I've used all of them as page bases already and I bought another pack of 12x12 cardstock (actually my last order was almost all 12x12 cardstock, I bought more from each color family).

Today's In Color palette:  Parakeet Party, Orchid Oasis, Starry Sky, and Sweet Sorbet.  There's just a bit of Tahitian Tide on the patterned paper, too.

Stay healthy, y'all!

February 2020

Scrappy Monday!  Man, what a weekend.  Last Thursday, Ryan woke up at one in the morning with a 101-degree fever so he stayed home with me Thursday and Friday.  On Friday, he comes up to me and says his eyes hurt, so I ended up taking him to the doc and he had pinkeye!  We got drops for his eyes (he's been a trooper with taking those) and based on the doc's advice, we moved his birthday party from Saturday to Sunday.  The other parents were very kind about the last-minute switch-up since we did it to keep anyone else from getting sick.  The kids had a great time running around an indoor playground and eating cake and ice cream yesterday, I think Ryan was worn out at the end of it but he was a happy kiddo.  Today, Ryan's eyes look back to normal, but he's still coughing and congested quite a bit, so maybe it's a good thing they're off school today.  Can you believe that the kids here get the day off after the Super Bowl??

Anyway, he's home with me so we'll be working on his Valentines for school (and the Valentines box too) and we're having lunch with Krissy, my dino-loving friend.  So here's a Scrappy Monday layout that gets two thumbs up from her!

Ryan was wearing dinosaur shirts in two of the pictures and that was enough for me to go with it for a theme on this layout; all the pics are snapshots from February of 2020.  Rather than doing a journaling block, I just added some quick captions by the photos, so this layout was pretty quick and easy to put together.  I think what took the longest was deciding which of the Dinoroar DSP prints to use : )  This was another of my very recent creations.  I only finished 8 pages last week, though I have another layout on my table that only requires journaling; we'll see how far I can get this week, though it's a short week with Ryan home today and off school Friday as well.  Speed scrappin' may be happenin'!

Today's color palette is lifted straight from the DSP:  Pool Party, Old Olive, Mango Melody, Pretty Peacock, just a smidgen of Pineapple Punch (the world's happiest yellow), and Whisper White.  Looks like there's some kind of color refresh on the horizon for SU!, so Pretty Peacock is coming back starting March 1.  If you ask me, they should never retire *any* colors, they should just add more!  #ColorDragon

I'm off to go get cleaned up after my workout and get started on Valentines.  Cheers!

Just Wanted to Say...

Mornin' folks!  Ryan is feeling better today, but since it's less than 24 hours since his fever broke we kept him home again today.  He's going through a lot of Kleenex but otherwise seems to be bouncing back just fine.  However, since he's home, it took me longer than I expected to make a card for today; in the end I made a deal with him that I could finish my card and then he and I would make one together.  So here's mine:

The inside says "I love you".  This is a variation on the first two cards I made for yesterday's post that didn't seem CAS enough for one of the challenges.  So here is this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

And the Color Throwdown:

I used Sweet Sorbet and Petal Pink, and even though it doesn't look like it in the picture of my card, I promise the sequins are gold.  It was a challenge to take pictures of cards today.

As soon as I finished that one, Ryan pounced and said we had to make a card for his dad whose birthday is coming up next week (and Ryan's is the day after).  So here's what we made:

He did most of the stamping (I just did the beaks on both birds and the foot on the Fresh Freesia penguin on the left) and chose all the colors, I helped him use the penguin punch and the heart punch, and he stuck everything down himself.

Working hard on his creation.

Ta-daaahh!  After I took this picture, he dictated the message for the inside and we both signed it.  And then he drew some fireworks on the front, too.  Now he's eating lunch and watching a cartoon so maybe I can run upstairs and make a card for next week's SUO Challenges...

Cheers!

Jolly Christmas 2018

Scrappy Monday on a Tuesday!  Man, yesterday was a busy day.  I woke up before 5 a.m., worked out, did a French lesson, wrapped presents, went to the post office and grocery store, then went to work for a few hours, then came home and wrapped more presents, got Ryan off the bus and we made two batches of cookies together, wrapped more presents, and started getting packages ready to mail.  I was wiped out by 7 p.m. last night.  Got another busy day ahead I'm sure, so let's get to this week's scrapbook pages!

This was Ryan's second Christmas, and of course we took *lots* of pictures of him.

Growing up, my family always opened presents after dinner on Christmas Eve, so we did that with Ryan.  However, his grandparents were visiting, so he got SO many presents that he couldn't open them all before bedtime, so these are the Christmas Eve pics.

Color palette:  Baked Brown Sugar, Real Red, Garden Green, Soft Sky, Whisper White, and a bit of Basic Black.

Now for some Christmas Day pics!

I kept the same color for the page base, but changed up the supporting colors a bit to match Ryan's jammies.

Second color palette:  Baked Brown Sugar, Real Red, Calypso Coral, Taken with Teal, Whisper White, and Basic Black.  Rather proud of how many pictures I managed to incorporate on three layouts!

Okay, I'm off to the post office and work.  Good luck with your holiday to-do lists, too!
