Festive Dinos

Hey hey, y'all!  Ryan and I went to Target yesterday to do Christmas shopping for all his cousins, and then he had his first taekwondo class as a yellow belt in the afternoon, followed by his first-ever sparring session.  I took a video of his first sparring bout to send it to the hubs, it looked like fun!  Today Ryan's grandparents are going to pick him up for a visit so I'll have a chance to wrap some more Christmas presents and clean up the house a bit before the hubs gets in on Friday morning.  Maybe I'll be able to finish the THREE scrapbook layouts I have in process right now!

But for now, I have the fastest card in the west.

For real, I put this together in about three minutes because I was trying to pack up stuff to go to the post office while getting Ryan ready to go to school at the same time.  My friend Krissy loves dinosaurs, and I had a dino gift to send her, so she needed a dino card--puffy stickers to the rescue!  I chose colors I thought went well with the stickers and found a scrap of Polished Pink DSP to die cut for the background.  A few circle punches topped with stickers and a stamped greeting, and this card was finished in record time.  And Krissy was super excited to get it last week, too.

That's it for now.  Maybe Ryan and I can watch the first episode of the new Percy Jackson series on Disney+ before he goes to his grandparents' house.  We recently finished reading the first series and are almost at the end of The Lost Hero, which might be my favorite book out of the entire Percyverse.  So I hope we like the show, too.  Cheers!

Friendly Pink Poinsettias

Mornin' y'all!  I got four batches of cookie dough made yesterday...they all had to chill for at least two hours so I didn't bake any cookies yet, but that will happen today.  And I'll be making pie crust this weekend and then REALLY getting going on Thanksgiving prep starting Monday!

In the meantime, I had just enough time after making all that cookie dough to make a card.

I really liked this sketch from Try Stampin' on Tuesday:

Which I paired with the colors from Just Add Ink:

I just missed the deadline to enter their Choose Two challenge so I'm getting my card in early this time ; ) I quickly realized that these colors are all in the Inked Botanicals DSP stack, which made me think of using Inked & Tiled, but I didn't like the looks of the flower from that set cut out so I stamped some poinsettias from Ringed with Nature and I liked that.  I'm sure the Christmas card juggernaut is coming soon, I usually try to delay as much as possible because I love fall and Thanksgiving so much : )

Okay, time to get the kiddo ready to go to school.  Cheers!

Anniversary Toadstools

Mornin' y'all!  EARLY morning...I've got a busy day ahead so it's not even 6am as I type this.  So let's get started, here's today's card:

It is brought to you by the color green! : ) My favorite.  Check out the Paper Players sketch:

And the Just Add Ink inspiration challenge:

All those beautiful green tones made my little heart go pitter pat!  I pulled out Wildlife Wonder, but upon looking at the inspo pic again, I decided to ink up Ringed with Nature because I don't think I'd ever used the toadstool images before (I just tried to type toast instead of toadstool, ha!).  I decided to go with an anniversary sentiment on this because a.) it fit with the sketch and b.) the hubs and I will be celebrating our TWENTIETH wedding anniversary next month, and since his job requires him to be elsewhere I needed a card to send to him for it.

Okay, I'd better hop to it.  Cheers!

All Tied Up with SUO Challenges

Mornin' folks and get ready for a new challenge from SUO Challenges!

This time around we're all tied up:  use ribbon, lace, or twine on your project.  So here's what I made:

I bought that Night of Navy ribbon when it was in the Occasions catalog and it carried over to the annual catalog : )  And what do you know, it looks great with the Countryside Inn DSP!  I let the DSP do all the work--isn't that bunny pattern cute?  And the stripey pattern is on the opposite side of the bunnies.  One quick sentiment from Ringed with Nature and I've got a boho bunny card for my stash.

I hope you'll join in the fun and upload your card at the SUO Challenges blog.  Cheers!

Poinsettia Love & Warmth

Extra post this week because I couldn't skip the Color Throwdown.  So here's this week's bonus card:

Once again I used this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

And here is the Color Throwdown:

It immediately made me think of Christmas, so that's what I went with.  Ringed with Nature is carried over in the Occasions catalog, so I stamped some pretty poinsettias, added a simple greeting and some great plaid DSP, and done.  And now I already have a Christmas card for later this year.

Have a great weekend, y'all.

Christmas Adam

Okay wow, today has been busy and time totally got away from me.  I had intended to do this post in the morning, and here it is nearly 7 at night!  I've been making lots and lots of cookies today; the kid and I are going to decorate sugar cookies for Santa tomorrow.  Still got two more batches of other types of cookie dough to bake up though.  But I'm stopping for a few minutes to scarf down some dinner and finally write this blog post!

One last Christmas card for this year.  A few years ago I jokingly said the day before Christmas Eve should be called Christmas Adam.  My brother's name is Adam and one year he was deployed to Afghanistan and got back home on...Christmas Adam!  So yeah that name is sticking.  Anyway, this card is already out in the mail to Adam.

Just had to squeeze in this challenge from Cupcake Inspirations:

The wood rounds that the cupcakes are sitting on made me think of Ringed With Nature, so I pretty much took my cue starting with that and the colors in the inspo pic.  I like that pattern from the Painted Christmas DSP, glad I finally started using some of it.

Anyway, I'd better get back to baking if I want to be done before midnight.  Cheers!

All the Sparkles!

Hey y'all, happy Friday!  I got a slow start today, I had to call and make several appointments and I really, really hate calling people on the phone.  So I procrastinated a lot and finally just sucked it up and got it done, then went up to my craft room...and kinda stared at everything for a bit, wondering what to do.  And then, THEN, I put on some Christmas music, ate some chocolate (my stamping muse is a picky wench but she is happy to be bribed with chocolate), and actually made a few things I like!

So here is what just might be the sparkliest card I've ever made.

It's a triple challenge card.  First up is Just Add Ink:

I used a tree and lots and lots of sparkle.  Check out this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

And the Color Throwdown:

I used Blushing Bride, silver sparkles, Shaded Spruce, Whisper White, and some Basic Gray.  I knew I was going to combine the sketch and colors (don't I always combine those challenges?) but I hadn't decided for sure what exactly to do until the JAI challenge tied it all together.  Whee!

Okay, I've got about an hour before Ryan gets off the bus, so I'm going to try to be productive to make up for my morning procrastination.  Cheers!

Give Thanks with the Paper Players

Hey y'all!  It's Sunday and that means it's time for a new Paper Players challenge!

This week's theme is brought to us by Claire and it's a fun one!  Here's what I made:

I love that fall leaf pattern from the Rings of Love DSP from Sale-a-Bration, so I started with that and then built a little collage with some elements from Ringed with Nature and the Natural Prints dies.  I think what took the longest was playing around with the pieces to decide where each bit should go, but I like what I ended up with.

So now it's your turn!  Don't forget to upload your card at the Paper Players blog.  Have fun!

Stamps:  Ringed with Nature, Painted Pheasant
Ink:  Soft Suede, Evening Evergreen, Poppy Parade
Paper:  Crushed Curry, Thick Basic White, Rings of Love DSP
Accessories:  Stylish Shapes dies, Natural Prints dies, Stitched Rectangles dies, Dimensionals

Fungi Fusion

Hey y'all!  Man, I'm tired this afternoon.  My delightful friend Sarah flew in on Monday and we ran all over the place with my other delightful friend Krissy for two and a half days, and I got up early to take Sarah back to the airport this morning.  I had a fabulous time, but I'm pooped!  Still, I did make a card today in an effort to stave off taking a nap...because if I nap now I know I won't sleep tonight.

Actually I started this card last week and didn't finish it until today.  I haven't used embossing folders in *years* and I don't think I had the right sandwich to do a hybrid embossing folder with my trusty ol' Big Shot; I thought for sure I was going to break it trying to crank it through.  And now the embossing folder is warped and I'm not likely to try using it again anytime soon : p  I should look up what I did wrong though.  Anyway, I was frustrated by that last week, which is why I just finished this.  I made this for the Fusion challenge:

When I gave up, I pretty much only had the tree ring and woodgrain strip cut out of patterned paper, so I decided I'd go with the colors from the Sunday Stamps challenge:

I used Poppy Parade, Blushing Bride (I think?  I'm tired so I guess it could be Petal Pink?), Soft Suede, and Early Espresso, so I just skipped the mustard color and the one right under it in the palette.

Okay, I've got about a half hour before I have to go pick up my kiddo.  Maybe there's time for that nap after all....cheers!
