Zebra and other cuts

These are pages from a sketchbook I keep for my experiments with my cutting machine.

The zebra was cut from. black card on a painted background.

I used the apple cut as a stencil [not the neatest painting]

The butterfly is yellow card on a painted background.

The following I cut and used as stencils, some from card [cereal boxes] some from plastic [folders].

Pink card cut outs. 

The green bricks are part of stencil - I stopped the machine half way through as the plastic wasn't fully secure.

Animal Cuts

Hi, I'm back, I've had a lovely time in Sorrento. 

I created these a while ago.

 They were all drawn on my tablet and cut with my digital printer - KNK Zing Air.

Painted backgrounds.

These were just try outs on card saved for recycling, hence the strange coloured animals.

I used the partridge as a stencil in the top picture before painting.

Sketchbook 50

This book is for my collection of paper cuts. These were mainly designed on my tablet, transferred to the computer, then brought into 'Make the Cut' as a pixel trace and then cut with my cutting machine. The machine is a KNK Zing Air. I've used a variety of papers, cards and fabric. 

You may have noticed that I've not been posting recently, well it is because I have my daughter and family staying with me until they move into their new home. My 13th month old Grandson is sleeping in my studio and has two naps a day so I'm not getting much chance to do work or use my computer which is in the studio. Mind you I am having fun playing with him and I think I will miss them being here. They will not be that far away when they do move which is great.

Most of the tags are my own work, a few are from the MTC software

Gift Exchange

I met up with the arty girls at the weekend for a meal out and exchange of handmade gifts and cards.

The lovelies I received were a box of cakes - these were made from paper and the lid lifted to reveal little presents - buttons, glitter, chocolate, washi tape.

A handmade book with various types of paper pages and a cover with real leaves. Also a hand cut bird tag.

A handmade book - this one is a weekly planner. Each page was personalized and printed with to do lists, diary, shopping list, doodles etc

A gift to come at a later date

I made and gave 3D layered pictures. Designed in my sketchbook, tweeked on the computer and cut on my Zing Air. I used various cards and papers and also painted the layers which were then put in shop bought frames with glass fronts. The glass made it difficult to photograph because of other things reflected in it. Three of the frames are white although they look blue, the other is black.

I found the dragons as clip art.

Cut Work Book - Pages 13-18

The piece on the right is the middle of the left.

The settings were wrong for the white card so did not cut correctly.

Lots of errors on these two, the settings again I think. If I did them again I'm sure they would cut properly now I've had more practice.
