This monument by Léopold de Bony de Lavergne is in the Square des Batignolles. Dierx was a Parnassian poet and also a painter and is buried in Batignolles cemetery, the grave of which I made a post here.

Parnassian poet and painter Léon Dierx (1838–1912) was born in Saint-Denis in La Réunion, where there is a museum in the town of his birth.

Leconte de Lisle – a major figure in the Parnassian movement – was born in Saint-Paul, La Réunion, then called Île Bourbon, and died in Voisins, Yvelines. The poetical lines are taken from his Poèmes antiques (1852).
