Dark Blond ~ Ready to Dance

Dark Blond ~ Ready to Dance
Redtoned dusty purple crème

Today I’m wearing the other Dark Blond-polish that I bought recently. I showed you the sister, the oddly spelled Auqua Marine, yesterday.

Ready to Dance has a better and more self-levelling formula than Auqua Marine. It’s also got a slightly better coverage but it still needs two coats for full coverage. I think this one has got stamping potential as well. And the drying time is also really good.

I can’t show you what it looks like on its own because I made orange dots on it while the polish was still wet! :D I used H&M’s Oriole for that purpose.

Take a look at the final mani. It’s two coats, dots and a layer of topcoat:

I quite like this rather unusual colour combo!

Here are the two polishes I used.

I’ll be honest: I quite like it, even though it’s two crème polishes, not with any kind of shimmer, glitter or holo added! Amazing, right?!

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Pretty good
Finish: Crème
Overall impression: I like it way more than I thought it would
Buy again: Yes I would

Dark Blond ~ Auqua Marine

Dark Blond ~ Auqua Marine
Mint green crème

It’s not very often I buy crème polishes and it’s not very often I buy mint greens either. I fell for Auqua Marine from Dark Blond recently though, and I’ve heard that their polishes stamp well, so I thought I’d give it a go. It’s not an expensive brand either.

The formula is not that great though. It’s streaky on the first coat. The second coat is a little bit better but the polish is not self-levelling. I’ll get back to that in a second.

Let me show you the final mani:

The cat is a water decal I bought from Aliexpress. The white polish is my favourite: m&s-172 from El Corazón. The holo topper is “Holographic Pearls” from Revlon. That’s a really cool topper.

This is what Auqua Marine looks like on its own. This is two coats and you can probably tell that it’s not really self-levelling.

Topcoat helps it though. This is one layer of Holographic Pearls over the mint green. Uh, that topper is already a favourite even though it does grey the base colour a little bit.

And in case you’ve wondered: No, I didn’t spell the name wrong. It is actually called Auqua Marine. I do believe that the company misspelled it by mistake!

Here are the two polishes, excluding the white El Corazón.

I also bought another Dark Blond polish. I’ll try that one in near future!

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Average
Finish: Crème
Overall impression: Cute colour. The formula is not impressive, it’s not self-levelling for a start
Buy again: I think I would! I like the colour a lot on my nails.

Nail Mail from Russia again - and with love ♥

Once again I've swapped with my dear friend from Russia, Anastasia from Little World of ColouredNails.  The waiting time wasn't as long this time as it has been before. I think it took about 5 weeks this time. So yes, I was thrilled when the mailman arrived with my Russian goodies!!

Here's one half of the polishes:

And here's the other half:

Let's take a closer look at them, shall we.
First three up are Dance Legends. Lots of glitter, yay!

Dance Legend: 917, Aztec 8 and 920

Two more Dance Legends. I love the brand so I was happy to see five of them in this swap! These two are colour shifters - the left one is textured, and the right one is a flakie!

Dance Legend: Sahara Crystal 15, and 529

Then there's a couple of brands I also recognize, Pupa and Jeanmishel. Pretty shimmers both of them:

Pupa 726 and JeanMishel (name is in Russian :) )

Here's a pretty couple too, Eva and Bell. Eva is pink hologlitter and Bell is a blue/purple glittertopper:

Eva 085 and Bell Glam Night sparkle 03

Then there's a brand I've been wanting to try for a while: El Corazón. This is a pretty pink with black "dots" that look like tiny poppy seeds. And Seventeen - a beautiful duochrome called 539

El Corazón Dotty Girl and Seventeen 539

Divage is a brand I've received from Anastasia before. They're so pretty, so I welcome another member of that family. It's a blue/red/purple/golden duochrome. Aurelia is new to me, but wow! She's absolutely gorgeous. I love the colour shift in her!

Divage Special effects 4908 and Aurelia 405

Holo and glitter is always welcome. Dona Mirella is a silver holographic glitter. I can't see the name of the Max Factor, but it's black with silver shimmer.

Dona Mirelle 010 (I think) and Max Factor unnamed

The last polish of them all is very special to me already. It's a multicoloured glitter leaning green. And the best of it is that it's a frankenglitter made especially for me. I'm thrilled! ♥

Frankenglitter
I also received a new handcream - perfect timing, because the one I got last time we swapped is almost empty. Then there's nail wraps and what I believe is a lip balm with cherry. It's something with cherry anyway :D

Handcream, nail wraps and maybe lipbalm

Anastasia also sent me a necklace with a cute pendant.

There was also candy, but I didn't get to photograph that, sorry!

That's my great Russian swap. Thank you so much, Anastasia for making this a great one! ♥

Intensive Rejuvenation for hands

Hand pack – Intensive Rejuvenation
”Helps soothe & soften dry, rought and chapped hands”

I got this pack of rejuvenating gloves in a swap. I’ve never seen anything like it here, but I’m always up for trying something new!

Here’s what the package looks like:

And here’s the instructions:

  • Wash hands
  • Put on gloves (a picture of a clock indicates “for 20 minutes”)
  • Rejuvenated hands

That sounds really easy, and who doesn’t want rejuvenated hands! :D

I washed my hands and opened the package. The first thing I noticed was the strong scent of rose perfume. It’s not my favourite scent, and I definitely would have preferred a more discreet perfume.

I pulled the gloves out of the package, and man, they were big!

Here’s a picture where I’ve put one of them on.

I must admit that I didn’t like wearing them, and that I counted every one of the 20 minutes. Imagine to pour out a portion of conditioner in your hands, and then wipe a cold, wet shower curtain around them, and then sit with that in 20 minutes. I haven’t tried sitting with a cold shower curtain, but I that’s how I imagine it feels. The gloves are made of plastic and there’s a lot of the moistening stuff inside. I did not like wearing them at all!!
When the 20 minutes had passed, I pulled the gloves off. My hands were really wet and they looked as if I’ve been sitting in a tub for a couple of hours :D

It didn’t say anything on the package about whether you should wash off the moist or to try and rub it in, so I tried the latter. It took half an hour before my skin had soaked it all up!

Does it work?
Yes, it works! My cuticles did definitely like this treatment and my hands did feel softer too.
But I keep getting the thought that a dense hand cream and a pair of cotton gloves would have done the same trick.

Have you girls tried anything like this? Did it work for you too?
