Linda Johansen ~ Razzle Dazzle

Linda Johansen ~ Razzle Dazzle
Deep purple with scattered holo

This is my second Linda Johansen polish. I was well impressed with the first one, even though it was grey :D You can see it here if you are interested!

Anyway, when I saw Razzle Dazzle I just knew I had to have it! It’s purple; it’s got holographic effect – what is there not to love?! I bought it on the spot!

The formula is great! It applies very easily, it dries fast and it’s basically just a great quality polish! It’s a jelly and I applied two coats and was satisfied with it, but when I look at the pictures I can see that I should have applied three. Anyway, two will have to do for this time. Here is a picture of two coats, no topcoat. The picture is taken in the sun:

The holo is gorgeous, I absolutely love it! And it even works in low light – here’s a picture taken in my lightbox:

Can you see how it looks as if it glows from within? I really love that!

I went for some dots to make it come more alive. I used a bright turquoise polish from Ma.nish.ma. called “Bolts of Blue” and made four dots on each nail. I sealed it all up with a new top coat I’ve bought in a blog sale: H. K. Girl. I’ve heard so many good things about it and have been dying to try it myself, so I was happy to finally get my hands on it.

Here’s the final mani in the sun:

And in my lightbox:

The polish still glows underneath the dots! :)

I can’t tell you how glad I am to have this polish in my stash. Linda Johansen is a Norwegian brand, and it deserves much more credit than it actually gets. Lacquered thumbs up from me!

Orly ~ Go Deeper

Orly ~ Go Deeper
Sheer teal base with teal and green glitters in various sizes

Before I show you Orly’s pretty glitter "Go Deeper" from the Flash Glam FX Collection, I need to apply some underwear. I chose Ma.Nish.Ma.’s “Bolts of Blue”, which I’ve actually already shown you, here. It’s a lovely turquoise that dries up semi-matte.

I applied two coats, and here’s the look I achieved:

It looks as if it dries up quickly, but don’t let it fool you. Even though it looks dry, it isn’t necessarily so! Here’s the pretty from a different angle:

I tried to tape it diagonally, but the tape pulled the nail polish straight off. Oh how I laughed! I re-applied the two coats on the nail I ruined, and waited a bit longer, before I freehanded my design. I chose Essence “Midnight Date”, which is half of a Color 3-polish. I’ve actually also shown you that before, here

So – here’s one times dabbing of Essence “Midnight Date” over Bolts of Blue:

It looks pretty random on the pic – I can assure you that the imperfection wasn’t as visible in real life. And it doesn’t matter that much that it isn’t perfect – it’ll all be evened out in the end – just wait and see.

Now for what this post is really about: Glittah!! I dabbed Orly’s really pretty glitter "Go Deeper" where the two other colours meet, in order to hide the line between them. And then I applied one generous coat of Poshé top coat, to even out the irregularities.

Here’s my final mani:

Can you see that it’s as if the unevenness of the Essence has now disappeared? It’s a kind of magic!

And from another angle:

This mani turned out exactly how I wanted it too, and I love when that happens! I find myself staring at my nails all the time, it’s sooo cool!

Tell me what you think of this, please? Would you also have freehanded it? Or would you have waited longer, so you were sure that the base polish was dry?

Summer Challenge Day 16: Tribal Print

Summer Challenge Day 16: Tribal Print

I had a really good idea to this mani, but everything kept going wrong, so I ditched that idea and will save it for later! But despite all my problems I still had to come up with a tribal print mani for today.

I started out with two coats of Ma.nish.ma’s “Bolts of Blue”, which is a very pretty turquoise, with a very nice formula that applies really easily! The polish dries up matte and a with very pretty velvet surface!

I however, really like pretty things that shine, so I added a coat of glittery top coat, namely Confetti’s “Party Palace Blue”. It’s a very sheer jelly base with blue microglitter and larger iridescent glitters, and it’s definitely meant to be a layering polish. It’s very pretty on top of a blue – it adds shine without taking over the mani completely. See for yourself:

For the tribal print I used a stamping plate called T06, and I used Wet n Wild black crème to stamp with. It’s the first time I’ve tried that, and that worked just fine.

One coat of Poshé top coat, and my tribal nails were done!

I really like this! What do you think?

Stay tuned the day after tomorrow - same bat time, same bat channel – for glitter nails! My favourite finish - I bet it’s going to be fun!!

Swap with A Girl and her Polish

I've got nail mail! This time it was from A Girl and her Polish, who was so sweet to say yes to swapping with me. She lives in the US and has access to a lot of polishes that are not available to me.If you don't know her already, you should totally check her blog out. She's making such great manis and she takes beautiful pictures!

Here's the fantastic haul that arrived yesterday:

Sinful Colors: Nail Junkie, I love you. Orly: Mysterious Curse, Grave Mistake
Sinful Colors' Nail Junkie has been a lemming of mine for a long time. Now it's mine, woohoo!!!

Look how beautiful it is!This'll be the first one I'll be trying on!

Sinful Color's Nail Junkie up close

I also got Maybelline polishes. I know Maybelline, but this series called "Color Show" is not available here. Cool and nice colours, and just me!

Maybelline Color Show: Keep up the flame, Tenacious Teal, Styled Out, Blue Freeze
Then there's Nina Ultra Pro, I've never even heard of the brand, but man, that purple glitter is just fantastic! Ma.Nish.Ma is also completely unknown to me, but it's a very pretty blue. I've got a couple of toppers from NYC myself, but not "Big City Dazzle" which is very pretty and sparkly, so that's great. I know both China Glaze and Color Club, and I am a huge fan! Good picks!!

Nina Ultra Pro: Purple-Xing, Ma.Nish.Ma: Bolts of Blue, NYC: Big City Dazzle,
China Glaze: Flying Dragon, Color Club: Metamorphosis
And there were other things than polishes in the package!
Face masks, hand scrub and body scrub.

And candy! I've already tasted the "Now and Later" (what a funny name!) and I like them, especially the blue raspberry. :D I'm looking forward to trying the other deliciousnesses.

I loved everything! I can't wait to try all the new pretties on. ♥
