Smokey Mountain Lacquer ~ Eternal

Smokey Mountain Lacquer ~ Eternal
Purple with holo dust

I got Eternal in a grab bag. I have found out that it’s a Facebook group custom from February 2015.

The formula is really good and so is the coverage. I used two easy coats for my mani. The polish dries up “gritty” from the holo dust – it’s not a big deal because a layer of topcoat smooths it all out, but I thought I’d mention it because that’s what bloggers do.

I used it with two water decals I bought from Aliexpress.

Final mani in the sunshine:

 Isn't it pretty and spring-y?

And this is what in looks like in low lights. It’s a lovely purple and I think the decals match the polish just perfectly!

Here’s Eternal along with El Corazón’s white polish 418/1, which I used as underwear for the decals. The decals are so sheer that they only work with white under them.

It has been ages since I bought any Smokey Mountain Lacquers. I’m glad that this one was in the grab bag!
Eternal was limited edition and is no longer available.

Dare to Wear ~ Majestic Wonders

Dare to Wear ~ Majestic Wonders
Green teal with silver flecks

I felt like showing you one of the others Dare to Wear polishes I bought – it’s time for Majestic Wonders – I like that name, I am not sure why.

But anyway, I like the formula. The polish is easy to apply and it covers well. I used two easy coats, and the drying time is good. And I must admit that I really like the colour!

Take a look at two coats and no topcoat.

Isn’t that just me? I’d say it is!

I was in the mood for something wild, hahaha, so I made it into a leopard mani. I found a good “spotty” motif on Moyou London’s all design stamping plate Tropical Collection-01 and I found paw prints on a no name Essence stamping plate. I stamped with NailNation 3000 “Black”.

Here’s what that step looks like:

What’s missing? Holo! I holofied it with a holo topcoat from Smokey Mountain Lacquers. It’s easy to work with and it only greys the base colour a little. The drying time is a bit average, but at least it didn’t pull on my design!

Here’s my final mani:

And one final shot:

Yes, yes, yes, I dig this!

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Good
Finish: shimmer
Overall impression: I like the colour and the finish, and it’s a great quality polish

Magical Music Manis 12: Telephone~ Lady Gaga featuring Beyoncé

This is the second last Magical Music mani in the series for now. I’m enjoying this so much!

Telephone is a really long music video, so there’s lots of stuff to be inspired by. I took my inspiration in Gaga & Beyoncé’s car: The Pussy Wagon, that looks like this:

Cool, yes? I also used Beyoncé’s awesome glasses as my inspiration:

And here’s how my final mani ended up looking like:

Yellow is the base colour and I used my Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Lightening for that. The red flames is made with a small brush and Bourjois’ Rouge Diva. The black sunglasses are just made with a plain black crème from Herôme called Montenegro. The holo topper is from Smokey Mountain Lacquer, and it does dull the colours a bit.

Here’s what the whole thing looked like before the holo topper.

Here are the polishes I used for my mani:

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri: Lightening, Bourjouis: Rouge Diva, Herôme: Montenegro, Smokey Mountain Lacquer: Holo topcoat

Here’s the very long video to Telephone:

Smokey Mountain Lacquers ~ Aiyana

Smokey Mountain Lacquers ~ Aiyana
Magenta linear holo

Today I’m going to show you the last Smokey Mountain Lacquer I’ve got. Aiyana is a Cherokee word meaning eternal blossom and what a true blossom this is!

The formula is good and easy to work with. It takes two coats to achieve the desired opacity and drying time between the layers is good.

Here’s two coats and no topcoat taken with flash:

And here it is in my lightbox. Still pretty imo.

I dabbed some glitter by the base of each nail. I used Chaos & Crocodiles “Squee”, which is a fantastic pink. lavender and blue multishaped glitter. I Made sure I got blue glitters on all the nails :D I sealed the whole thing up with topcoat and here’s my final mani.

I really like pink, blue and purple together, and holo! Yay!

That’s it for Smokey Mountain Lacquers on my blog for now. Maybe there’ll be more of them later, who knows :)

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Good
Finish: Jelly, linear holo
Overall impression: Really nice colour, good quality polish

Smokey Mountain Lacquers ~ Ama

Smokey Mountain Lacquers ~ Ama
Sky blue linear holo

So are you up for another Smokey Mountain Lacquer? Now I want to show you a lovely sky blue holo.

The formula is good and it takes two coats to achieve desired opacity. The drying time between the coats is good. I painted the accent nail white with OPI’s Angel with a Leadfoot. I needed three coats of white before I was satisfied with it.

Here are the little canvases ready to make some nail art on:

The colour of Ama is really pretty, although the holo effect isn’t amazingly strong. I stamped on it. (Surprise!!!) I picked a circle motif from the XL stamping plate “B” and I stamped with NailNation 3000’s “Black”. I stamped the same design on all the nails and dotted with the opposite colours inside some of the circles.

I topped the whole thing off with another polish from Smokey Mountain Lacquers, namely their holo topcoat. It does grey the underlaying polish some but in this case I don’t mind so much. The holo topcoat dries fast too.

I like how this mani came together!

That’s it. That was number four and five of my Smokey Mountain Lacquers. There is one more to go – I’m going to try that on tomorrow.

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Good
Finish: Jelly, linear holo
Overall impression: Nice colour, not the strongest holo effect, good quality polish

Smokey Mountain Lacquers ~ Plumtastic

Smokey Mountain Lacquers ~ Plumtastic
Deep but bright holographic purple

Plumtastic is the third polish I try from Smokey Mountain Lacquers and the first where I agree on the described colour. This is indeed both deep and bright, and it’s purple alright too!

The formula is good and easy to work with and it takes two easy coats to make this opaque. The drying time is really good too.

Take a look at two coats and no topcoat:

Now that’s what *I’m* talking about when I say deep purple! Sweet!

Here’s a lightbox picture – the polish is still pretty. Score.

I made some stripes on it with Stargazer #304, a lovely teal/green packed with lovely shimmer. Here’s the final result taken with flash (stripes are extremely overwhelmed over the flash - crazy!):

…and here’s the same thing in the lightbox to show off the stripes:

I absolutely love purple and teal/green together, so this is a total win to me! What say you, sweet girls?

Smokey Mountain Lacquers ~ Raging Hormones

Smokey Mountain Lacquers ~ Raging Hormones
Rusty dusty pink linear holo

So here’s another Smokey Mountain Lacquer I received in a swap. It’s described as a cherry red linear holo but seriously, I can’t see that. To me it’s rusty dusty pink-ish. We can agree that it’s linear holographic though, haha!

Anyway, the formula is good and the polish is easy to work with. I used my regular basecoat and that works just great – no need to use aqua basecoat under this polish. It took two coats to make it opaque and the drying time is good.

Here’s two coats and no topcoat – taken with flash:

And another one:

Here is a lightbox picture. Not cherry red, is it?

I dabbed a bit of glitter on one side of each nail. I used Darling Diva’s Caliente, which is a red multisized and multishaped glitter that I got in a grab bag. When that was dry I applied a layer of Essence’s Gel Look topcoat, and here’s my final mani:

I quite like the effect of the glitter on one fourth of the nail like this.

The mandatory lightbox picture:

When I receive a bunch of polishes in the mail I tend to use the one I like the least first and then work my way through them and save the nicest one til last. I’ve done that too in this case. I do like Raging Hormones, but it’s not my favourite of the bunch – perhaps because I expected an actual cherry red. It’s nice though, no criticism from me. Do you like this? And do you see it as a cherry red?

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Good
Finish: Jelly, linear holo
Overall impression: I feel like I’m colour blind at the moment, when polishes are described totally different than what I see them like. It’s still a good quality polish though.
