Flormar Wild Nails ~ CW102

Flormar Wild Nails ~ CW102
Green with a metallic finish

I got a bunch of new Flormars last time I swapped with sweet Aylin from Posh Nail Art, and this Flormar Wild Nails is one of them. It’s a lovely green, and I was very interested to see if it was just as good a polish as my other Flormars.

It turned out that it was. Application was easy, although I got a few visible brush strokes. It was opaque in one coat, which I love. I gave it two anyway, to see if it made a difference. It made a slight difference: The brush strokes became less visible, and the polish seemed more even, if that makes any sense.

Here’s a pic of two coats, no top coat:

I have seen something on other blogs that I wanted to copy. It turned out that I hadn’t figured out what those girls really did. I wanted to make some dots on my nails, and then pull a need through the dots and create a line of hearts. What I didn’t know was that the base polish is supposed to be still wet. Mine was dry… I made three dots with a dark green polish from Ulta called “Envy”, and pulled a needle through the dots a couple of times. It didn’t look like hearts at all. In fact, it looks like three dots connected by a thin line – take a look: :/

Hmmfr! Not what I was looking for at all! I did what I always do when I fail a mani: I reached out for glitter! :D I applied a coat of Rival de Loop “Silver Glam” from their Glam Rock collection, and here’s what it ended up looking like:

I like all three polishes, but what ruins it for me is the fact that the dots didn’t react like I expected them to. I guess that I have to make the dots while the base colour is still wet and then pull the needle through it before it dries. At least that is what I’m going to try next time!

Here is a pic of the polishes I used:

Have you tried the needle marbling technique yourself? Did it work? Have you got any tips for me, so I’ll do better next time?

Kiko ~ 341 - with stripes and dots

Kiko ~ 341
Bright blue crème with a teal tone

I got this lovely blue polish in a swap with Elsa from “Like a Candy Shop”. It’s a crème and it has a hint of green tone to it, so I’m almost calling it a teal. I just couldn’t catch the teal qualities on cam though, so here it looks like a nice blue, but there’s more depth to the colour than the camera shows.

The application was a bit trickier than I’ve previously experienced with Kiko polishes. It was totally opaque in two coats – good - but it was hard to level out the un-evennesses with the second coat. Fortunately it smoothed out all
by itself as it dried.

Here it is – two coats, no top coat yet.

I think that it’s even more lovely in real life, where the teal shows.

With my two way nail art pen/brush from Claire’s I painted two white stripes and two white dots on each nail. I think it looks really cool.

Still no top coat:

Then I used my Rival de Loop glitter top coat, which is a clear base with holographic glitter in it. It’s from their “Glam Rock” collection, and I bought this baby in Germany. I topped all this with a layer of Poshé top coat.

The sun was out for a whole two minutes, so I snapped a pic of it in that nice natural, vibrant light.

And here’s an indoor shot for you because I like this mani so much.

The involved polishes:

I really like this mani. I love the colour, the simple decoration and the glitter. Do you also think this mani is a win?

Funky Fingers ~ Chesire

Funky Fingers ~ Chesire
Creamy semi-matte purple

In my ‘100 followers giveaway’, some of you requested more hand painted nail art. I have to say that I can’t draw to save my life, but I want you to know that I do listen to your ideas and what you say about things you’d like to see. Perhaps you’ll regret that you even asked; who knows? :D

Anyway – I started out with two coats of Chesire, a blue-based purple, that surprisingly enough dried up semi matte. The formula is nice to work with, and that makes up for the brush being a bit too narrow for my likings.

Here is that step. There’s no top coat on the polish just yet – because we have plans for this polish, right?

On to the next step – adding some bling. I chose RL’s “Lilac Glam” from their Glam Rock series. It’s a pinkish purple glitter that spreads out perfectly and easily on the nail. It smells kind of weird, like glue or something, but I don’t mind that very much.

Here’s what that looks like. The glitter photographs more pink than it actually is. It’s definitely more purple than pink!

So far so good – no disasters yet. But wait, there’s more!

I saw a tutorial a while ago, where a girl made flowers on her nails. She painted one dot (the centre of the flower) and then five equally big dots around it, and then she had the most beautiful and well shaped flowers ever. And it looked so darn easy. Anybody could do that, right?

Anybody but me, that is.

I chose Essence Colour & Go “Passion for fashion” for the flowers, and Nfu Oh’s holographic silver 61 for the middle dot. And here’s where it all went wrong.

I’ll let the picture do the talking. The mani is shown with a layer of Seche Vite top coat:

And here are the polishes I used:

I’m not sure I’ll do another hand painted flower mani again.
Please be gentle when you comment! :D

My German Haul part 2

Hiya girls,

Here's the second half of all the nail polishes I bought when I was on vacation in Germany.

I bought my first polishes already on the way to  Germany, on the ferry: The two Sally Hansen Insta-Dri polishes: Whirlwind White and Lightening. I bought them mostly for stamping, since I've heard lots of good things about them.
The Max Factor is called Emerald and is a beautiful shimmery green. The last one is an Anny, and is called Absolutely Fuchsia. It's the most shimmery polish I've got.

From Astor: Silver (Crackle), 025 and 110. I couldn't find neither name nor number on the crackle.

Kiko: 300, 231 and 255.
I absolutely fell in love with these three, but what is it with companies that give their nail polishes numbers and not names?!

P2 Color Victim: So cool and Fever.
P2 Pearl crackling: Violet flame and Blue thunder.
I must admit that I don't understand why I bought the Violet flame crackle. It's way too golden to be me.

RL Glam rock: Silver glam and Lilac glam. A girl can never get too much glitter and glam!

That's it - that's all I bought in Germany. I've got a luxury problem - I don't know what to wear first! :D
