Gothic Gala Lacquers ~ Something F*cky

Gothic Gala Lacquers ~ Something F*cky
Dark teal with holographic effect

Something F*cky is hard to describe. It’s something in between blue and green, petrel and dark turquoise. Let’s just call it teal! :)
The formula is good and easy to work with. It takes two coats to make this baby shine the most, and drying time in between coats is good. There’s no need to use an aqua basecoat for this, any ol’ basecoat will do.

And girls, you’re going to like this if you’re into teals! Here’s a picture taken with flash: Two coats, and no topcoat:

Here it is from a different angle to make those rainbows pop. Still taken with flash:

The colour changes in lower lights. There’s still a hint of those pretty rainbows, but the colour gets darker and much deeper.

Isn’t this just a pretty colour?

I decided to go stamping on this. I used a stamping plate from Bundlemonster; BM-305 for all the designs I chose. First I stamped a zig zag-design with Color Club’s “Angel Kiss”, which is a light green very linear holo.

Here’s what that looked like with flash:

And without flash:

Then I stamped on little devils and devil’s tale with a no name black stamping polish. Here’s the final design photographed with flash:

And here it is without flash:

I must admit that I’m sincerely and deeply impressed with how Gothic Gala has stepped up the indie polish ladder lately. Everything just seems to work with all of them, both formulawise and colourwise. Sweet as!!

Great job, Samantha!

Gothic Gala Lacquers ~ Vallis Sanguine

Gothic Gala Lacquers ~ Vallis Sanguine
Red/purple with holographic effect

When you see the pictures, you’ll probably believe that I’m showing you two different polishes, wait and see!

Vallis Sanguine is described as a purple/red creme polish with a linear holo effect. It took me a little while to see the purple in it; to me this polish leans more red than purple. Of course I don’t mind that at all – I love both red and purple!

Alright – the formula is really good, and the polish applies easily and effortlessly. Coverage is great, it takes two easy coats to achieve full opacity. Drying time is also very good, so no problems to report with that. Good job!! So let me show you what this beauty looks like when photographed with flash.

Two coats, no topcoat:

And here’s a picture that shows the more purple side of Vallis Sanguine:

I just love these rainbows, they’re absolutely beautiful!

Let me show you what I talked about when I said that you would think that I showed you two different polishes in the post. Here’s a picture of the exact same polish, just taken without flash and in lower lights:

Wow, right? It’s totally different! This picture shows the purple side of Vallis Sanguine:

And one last shot in low lights. I simply love how different this polish can look in changing conditions!

I wasn’t really in the mood to cover up any of this polish, so I just added a half moon-sticker to my ring finger nail, and called that a mani.
Flash picture of the final mani:

Lower light picture of the final mani:

I might as well tell you right away that Vallis Sanguine is my favourite Gothic Gala Lacquer. It’s so beautiful both in direct sunlight and in low lights – and that’s perfect for me! I love the colour and the holo effect is cool. So yes –Both thumbs are up for this beauty!

Gothic Gala Lacquers ~ Odin

Gothic Gala Lacquers ~ Odin
Deep, vampy, blackened purple with holo effect

I showed you Picard yesterday, a beautiful berry/pink holographic polish, and today I want to show you something darker. Odin, named after the leader of the gods in Norse mythology, is very deep purple, but not so dark that it appears black. Odin is obviously from the Valhalla collection, from which I may in fact need more polishes.

The formula is really good, I had no problems with application at all. The pigmentation is also good; it takes two coats to make it fully opaque. Drying time is good, and that’s a big plus in my book. I used a regular basecoat as underwear for Odin.

The first pictures are taken with flash. Two coats, no topcoat:

Odin is probably the least holographic of the four polishes I got for review, but it’s still really beautiful!

It’s like small rainbows scattered out over my nails. My nails really like that!

I also took some pictures in lower lights without flash. The holo particles still show in lower lights, but obviously not as prominently as when photographed with flash.

Isn’t this purple just great? I really like it!

I spiced it up a bit with a metallic magenta striper! I painted what resembles a peace sign on each nail. There should be piece amongst the gods after all! I sealed the whole thing up with a layer of topcoat too. Here’s my final mani, picture’s taken with flash:

And here’s a picture taken without flash:

Can I recommend Odin? Well, if you’re into deep, dark colours with beautiful spectraflair added to it, then definitely yes. I’ve got nothing negative to say about formula, pigmentation or drying time. It’s just a really good polish, that’s it!

Gothic Gala Lacquers ~ Picard

Gothic Gala Lacquers ~ Picard
Deep pink leaning berry – linear holographic

It’s been more than four months since I wore my first Gothic Gala Lacquers. Back then Samantha had just started up her business with various glitter polishes. Let’s see how much has happened since back then, shall we?

They’re all holos and the first impression is that they’re all gorgeous!

I wanted to give Picard a go first; a deep pink, almost berry coloured holo.

The formula is great, the polish glides on effortlessly and covers in two easy coats. Drying time between the coats is great. I used a regular basecoat, and didn’t experience any problems with dragging or the dreadful bald spots. And man… this is such a beautiful polish.

Let me show you what two coats and no topcoat look like on this picture taken with flash:

Is that pretty or what?? I’d say it is!

Picard is also pretty in lower lights and without a flash to make her show the rainbows. Take a look at this:

It’s almost even prettier than on the pictures taken with flash!!

This polish is so sweet that I had to give it a bit of edge – we are talking about a brand name that has the word “gothic” in it after all! So I stamped some cool skulls on it. I found the skulls on a stamping plate from Moyou London called “Biker Bollection-02” and I just stamped with a no name black stamping polish.

Final result with flash:

And without flash:

I have also got to show you this cute lollipop Sam sent me. I love it!!

I have to say that Samantha has really stepped up the indie polish ladder during the last four months! I really like(d) her glitters back then, and seriously, now - I love this first holo of hers that I’m trying on. Amazing formula, great coverage, beautiful polish. Polished thumbs up from me!

Gothic Gala Lacquers ~ Shiny Rainbow ♥

Gothic Gala Lacquers ~ Shiny Rainbow
Neon orange with linear holo, white glitter and black hearts

This is the last of the three polishes that Samantha of Gothic Gala Lacquers sent me. She didn’t send this one for a review – this is a gift to me from her. And it’s a very special gift – it has been made solely for me, and cannot be bought in her shop! And girls – the name is Shiny Rainbow! Isn’t that just fabulous?!

The formula is great! It only took two easy coats to make it opaque. I did have to fish for the hearts though, but that’s fine with me – I do prefer to place them myself anyway. Drying time was average. I sealed the whole thing up with a layer of Poshé topcoat.

And man – this polish is right in your face neon! You don’t believe me? Let me show you. Here’s two coats and one layer of Poshé:

Isn’t that just amazing?!

I love the fact that there’s holo in a polish made especially for me.

And yes – I did place the hearts where they are. I like a bit of symmetry in my manis ;)

I’m really thrilled over this polish. I love the holo, I love the glitter and I love the fact that this polish is so loud! I’m not wearing orange a lot, but man, I would love orange more if they all were similar to this!!!

I’d love to send out a huge thank you to Samantha for making this polish to me. I am forever grateful! ♥

Even though you can’t actually buy this polish, you might find something else you like if you check out Gothic Gala Lacquers Facebook page here, or the shop here. The shop opens in only two days now!!
Samantha also makes custom polishes, and can design your very own polish for you!

Gothic Gala Lacquers ~ Sinderella’s Slipper

Gothic Gala Lacquers ~ Sinderella’s Slipper
Clear base with mainly red and black glitters in various shapes and sizes, and added black hearts

Welcome again to the Gothic Gala ball! First girl on the scene is Sinderella. Seductive, sweet, full of promises that may or may not be kept. It is Sinderella after all ;). She is wearing the most fantastic slippers. They’re red and black and very, very shiny.

Sinderella’s Slipper isn’t meant to be worn alone. I decided she needed some seductive underwear. I went for Inglot’s #610, which is a rich magenta with the most fantastic pink shimmer. First time I wore it I hated it, but since it was a while before I started blogging, now I can’t remember why.  It doesn’t matter. It’s gorgeous – I’ll show it at the end of the post, because this post isn’t about that.

I applied a layer of Sinderella’s slipper on the deep magenta. The polish is packed with glitter, and what you see on my nails is one dip in the bottle per nail. I did fish a little bit for the black hearts, but there’s nothing unusual about that. The glitter dried up almost flat, so it was enough to finish the mani with one layer of Poshé tocoat.

Dear ladies – here’s Sinderella’s Slipper:

I think the magenta fits her perfectly! Real red or black would have been too ordinary for this beauty – she deserved something special:

The pink shimmer doesn’t show from this angle, but that definitely doesn’t make the polish uglier :D

The hearts work because of the multisized black glitter – that’s so great!

Here’s a slightly blurred picture to show that there’s some holo glitter in the polish too!

Are you curious to see Sinderella’s underwear, you naughty girls? Haha! Here it is: Two coats of Inglot #610:

I hope you enjoy the ball so far – I know I’m having a great time!

Gothic Gala Lacquers ~ Welcome to the ball

Gothic Gala Lacquers ~ Welcome to the ball
Blackened base with shredded and square glitter and hologlitter

Welcome to the Ball – the Gothic Gala! I’m very pleased to introduce you to a new kid on the indie-block: Samantha, who is the creator of Gothic Gala Lacquers. I got in touch with Samantha on Facebook, where we are in a swap group together.
Welcome to the ball! It’s black, it’s gothic, and it’s full of glitter, just the way a ball should be!

It takes three thick coats to make the polish that opens the ball opaque on its own. I’m not that patient – so I layered this over Essence “Black is Back”, which is a plain black crème polish. Then I added two coats of “Welcome to the ball”. The glitter spreads out easily and evenly and what you see on my nails is the result of a deep dip in the bottle. I didn’t arrange the glitter on my nails – this is what it decided to look like. Drying time is pretty average, which is fine. I sealed it up with a layer of Poshé topcoat, and here’s the final mani:

Isn’t that just pretty? I love that it’s also holographic, that’s a huge plus!

The pictures are all taken with flash – the sun just wasn’t cooperative, grr! :D

It reminds me so much of a starry night sky!

I’m usually not very forgiving when it comes to layering polishes – I do like when polishes work on their own. I have already forgiven this one though. I really like the way the glitter stands out, also the holographic effect in the background. I’m not sure that effect could have been achieved if it hadn’t been layered.

So there you have it – I’m pleased to having introduced you to this gothic gala adventure. Please check back tomorrow, where I am going to show you one pretty girl that decided to join the ball. Make sure you stay tuned for that!
