USA ~ Route 66 ~

... Great postcard nr2 is showing the most legendary and famous highway in the world... “road of dreams” for many Americans... a route well known for its eccentric attractions like the World’s Biggest Bottle of Ketchup, the Blue Whale of Catoosa, and plenty of outrageous museums... for years on top of hubby's bucketlist... a trip with his Harley motorbike on Route 66🏍... Thanks a lot Glenn!! (✿ ♥‿♥)

Route 66, established in 1926, affectionately known as “The Mother Road”, spans across three time zones, starting from Chicago, Illinois and travelling all the way down to the Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles, California crossing 8 states. The route has a length of  2,448 miles (3,940 km).

It was officially decommissioned on June 27, 1985 after it was decided the route was no longer relevant and had been replaced by the Interstate Highway System.

USA ~Historic Route 66 ~

...Nice map showing the most legendary and famous highway in the world...on top of hubby's wishlist... a trip with his Harley motorbike on Route 66... o͜͡o Thanks a lot Lisette!

Backside card - US Route 66 Trivia:
-Established in 1926 and since celebrated in popular music, film and literature.
-Spanned 8 states and 3 time zones.
-Has several nicknames, including "The Mother Road" the "Main Street of America" and the "Will  Rogers  Highway".
-Used by migrant farm workers headed to California during the 1930's Dust Bowl.
-In 1984, the last segment of US 66 in Arizona decommissioned as federal highway.
-Several segments are still named 66, but instead designated as state highways.
-Smithsonian Museum of American History in Washington D.C. displays a 40-foot stretch of the highway.
-Portions now designated as National Scenic Byway marked "Historic Route 66".
