CZECH REPUBLIC ~ The National Stud Farm in Kladruby nad Labem - UNESCO ~

... Nice aerial view of one of the oldest stud farms in the world and at the same time the home of the oldest original Czech horse breed, the Old Kladrub horse... it is designed exclusively for the breeding and training of these horses, which were used in ceremonies by the Habsburg imperial court... probably as the only breed in the world - specifically for pulling coaches of emperors and kings... even today, Kladrubers fulfill their initial role of ceremonial horses mainly at the royal courts in Denmark and Sweden as well as during the official ceremonies in the Czech Republic.... the extensive terrain consists of three farms and a landscape park... you can enjoy a guided tour of the stables, of the coach room with the Kladruber Horse Exhibit, and the Chateau or climb up a hill with a viewing tower offering a unique view of the stud and its surroundings...with lovely matching stamp👍...Thanks Helen! (✿◠‿◠)

The tradition of horse breeding in Kladruby nad Labem stretches back to at least the mid 14thC. For over 300 years (1579–1918) it was an imperial court stud providing horses for the royal and imperial court in Prague and Vienna and covers an area of over 3,000 acres.

Nowadays the National Stud keeps around 500 horses. 250 white Old Kladrubers are bred in the historic site of Kladruby nad Labem and 250 black Old Kladrubers are bred in Slatiňany, a former stud of the princely family of Auersperg, located about 40 kilometres east of Kladruby nad Labem.

Together the stud farm and this unique countryside were registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List as of 2019.

CZECH REPUBLIC ~ Villa Tugendhat - Brno - UNESCO ~

.... Nice view of a masterpiece of modern architecture located in a quiet residential area of Brno... exquisite materials and modern technologies were used in the construction... it is a detached house with a floor area of 907 m2... it has a flat roof and three floors with different plans... its main structure is made of reinforced concrete with steel frames... the most impressive things about the house are the fixed pieces; dining room table, curtain rods on the ceiling to create 'partions' in the open floor plan, the air conditioning system, and the electronic windows that roll down like a car window... unfortunately Fritz and Greta were not able to live in their beautiful, highly modern villa for long... they were a Jewish family and the owners and the family were forced to emigrate in connection with the threat of World War II in 1938... Thanks a lot Hana! \_(ツ)_/

Photo: Miloš Budik

Villa Tugendhat was built in 1929–1930 for Fritz and Greta Tugendhat to a design by the German architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Interior designer Lilly Reich and partner of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for more than 10 years designed all the furniture, carpets and textiles for the Tugendhat Villa.

In 1989 Vila Tugendhat was thoroughly restored over a period of more than two years and returned as much as possible to its original state. For the furniture one had to go to old photos and drawings and replicas were designed to approach the original as closely as possible.

Villa Tugendhat was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2001.

... Great monumental palace view... built on a hill with large walls for fortification around it... there are 100 impressive rooms in the four-wing building of the Chateau...one of the most impressive baroque residences of Central Europe... a pearl of Baroque architecture... home of the Czech National Wine Institute... and the town is the centre of wine making in the Czech Republic... the Lednice-Valtice cultural landscape is a large, man-made landscape designed by the Liechtenstein family according to the principles of the English landscape architecture... CZECH REPUBLIC ~ Holašovice Historical Village - UNESCO ~

... Beautiful panoramic view of the most charming village in the whole of the Czech Republic....  a quaint place seemingly untouched by the modern European world around it... an exceptionally well-preserved example of a traditional Central European village... the picturesque colorful facades of farm houses around the large oval pond garden is a lovely sight to see for its unbelievable harmonious design...  although everything is very well kept, it does not look like a museum, it seems to be a lively little village... with great matching UNESCO stamp👍... Thanks a lot Jiří! ❀◕ ‿ ◕❀  (And Thanks for visiting my blog and your nice commentsツ)
Holasovice is a small village in Southern Bohemian. It has a large number of outstanding 18th and 19thC vernacular buildings in a style known as 'South Bohemian Folk Baroque', and preserves a ground plan dating from the Middle Ages.

A system of habitable homes and granaries are connected via outside walls with gates and exits into the village square. The complex consists of 23 protected estates with 120 buildings all located around a rectangular square.

From the 16th century on, settlers from Bavaria and Austria arrived. They brought with them the tradition of masonry building for domestic structures. The village was deserted after the Second World War, allowing its medieval plan and vernacular buildings in the South Bohemian Folk or Rural Baroque style to remain intact. It was restored and repopulated from 1990.

In 1998 the almost entirely preserved medieval system of houses and grain stores was inscribed in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List as "Holašovice Historical Village Reservation".

...Nice views of one of the three main historical cities to visit in the Czech Republic - Prague, Cesky Krumlov and Kutná Hora... an interesting charming old medieval town not so far from Prague.... Thanks a lot Andrene for one more great UNESCO site!!  (✿◠‿◠)

Kutná Hora was the richest and the most significant town of Medieval Bohemia. Rich silver deposits were discovered in its vicinity in the 13th century and they helped win fame and glory for the Kingdom of Bohemia.

The well-known Prague groschen - the currency of Europe - was minted here too.

At both ends of the town there are some beautiful buildings, and the higher points of the town are home to restored older architecture, with Medieval, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque buildings.

Since 1995 the city center has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Czech Republic ~Prague - Old Town Astronomical Clock ~

...An amazing piece of working history and great symbol of the city...sent by nephew Ben when he was in Tabor to support the Belgian riders at the WK Cyclo-cross 2015... Bedankt Ben!!

The Prague astronomical clock, is a medieval clock located in  the capital of the Czech Republic. The clock was first installed in 1410, making it the third-oldest astronomical clock in the world and the oldest one still working.

The clock was  made of 3 main sections:
1. The astronomical dial represents the position of the sun and moon, displaying astrological details.
2. The “Walk of the Apostles” shows figures of the apostles and a figure of death striking time.
3. the Calendar Dial, added in 1490, is made with 12 medallions – the signs of the zodiac, added by Josef Manes in 1865 – to represent the months.

The moving statues and apostles were added in the 17th century after major repair in 1865 – 1866.

CZECH REPUBLIC ~The dancing house-Prague~

Great view of the most famous modern building in Prague (CZ-143079)...The building is also called Ginger & Fred, referring to Ginger Rogers and Fred Astair – the legendary dance duo...maybe with a lot of imagination and a few glasses of wine!:D For me it looks a bit weird and funny... Thanks Barbora!!

Lovely stamps too!

Located on the corner of Rasinovo Nabrezi and Resslova street, alongside the Vltava River.
The building is an example of a deconstructivist architecture, with an unusual shape – you can actually see a couple – woman and man dancing together, holding their hands, with a skirt that sways to the music.
The building was built from 1992 to 1996.

Czech Republic ~Cervená Lhota Castle~

Received a wonderful winterview castle today.... The white of the snow against the red of the castle is so nice!

Červená Lhota Castle is a monument that gracefully maintains the balance between a representative aristocratic residence and a simple Renaissance fortress.
The impressive effect of the natural surroundings of the Deštná Creek with its castle lake, the age-old magic of a local residence strengthened by the appreciation of the „knightly“ Renaissance, is perhaps the main reason of the perpetual attraction of this place.
