SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS (WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 14, 2025)

Franklin area closed, remote learning day. Highlands School, three-hour delay. Nantahala School, two-hour delay.

FRANKLIN AREA SCHOOLS

"Due to continued icy conditions on many secondary roads and freezing temperatures expected again tonight and tomorrow morning, Macon County Schools-Franklin area will have a Remote Learning Day on Wednesday, January 15, 2025."

NATAHALA SCHOOL

"Nantahala School will have a two-hour delay on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. Please be safe while travelling."

HIGHLANDS SCHOOL

"Highlands School will be on a three-hour delay tomorrow with limited bus service. School will begin at 11:00 am.

Please do not drop off students before 10:30 to ensure access to the building and proper supervision.

Due to the possibility of icy roads, buses will run only to the following pick-up and drop off points tomorrow. Bus 109 AM will pick up students at the Shortoff Baptist Church at 10:00 am and at Clear Creek Baptist Church at 10:25. Bus 105 AM will pick up students at the Scaly Mountain Fire Station at 10:25. The same drop-off points will be used in the afternoon as well.

If you live on a road that is not maintained, please bring your child to one of the noted pick up points or bring your child to school.

If you live on a road that is not maintained and it is not safe to travel, please stay home and your child can attend and participate through remote learning. Again, Highlands School will be on a three-hour delay tomorrow. School will begin at 11:00 am."



GENERAL OUTLOOK

Temperatures slowly warm to near normal by late week ahead of another storm system that is expected to bring precipitation to our area Friday night into Saturday. Arctic high pressure returns to the region early next week, with mostly dry conditions expected for now.
