The 2012 Sanford Hunt Frye Dinner

The Democratic Party of North Carolina held their annual Sanford-Hunt-Frye Fundraiser in Greensboro, NC this year. Thanks to a timely tip via Zan Bunn on Facebook, I was able to watch part of the event. I also recorded the audio and have posted it below. If you do use it on your website or blog, I have released it under a Creative Commons 3.0 Attribution Requested license...which is a fancy way of saying, if you use it, please credit Bobby Coggins and link back here where you found it.

Here is the video of the event as well. It is three plus hours long and the audio above is just of the meat of the event.

Previously

In 2007, I joined The Carolina Stompers and Space Mountain Productions and infiltrated the 2007 Vance Aycock Dinner and filmed that Democratic Fundraiser.
Here is my coverage of that event:

Name Change Coming for Annual Vance-Aycock Dinner
Aycock's Name to be "Retired with Honor" by Democrats

After three years of lying low, the Democrats are finally taking the advice of the Carolina Stompers [their website is currently down it's back up now], and doing away with the name Aycock from their annual dinner at the exclusive Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC. I notice that they're not doing anything regarding honoring the North Carolina Confederate Governor, Zebulon Vance, who was also a racist. Here is an excerpt of a speech he gave in 1890 while serving in the US Senate:

In this great struggle to escape Negro rule and restore our State governments to the control of those who made them, and whose ancestors had established their principles in their blood, we had both the aid and the sympathy of Northern Democrats everywhere. We had neither from you. [source]

In the fall of 2007, I joined with Richard Bernier of URTV's Sound Off Buncombe to cover the Democratic Fundraiser after Chad Nesbitt of The Carolina Stompers brought it to my attention that the event was named after a racist North Carolina Governor named Charles Brantley Aycock.

Here are some videos taken by Richard Bernier and me. The first four are mine, and the last four are Richard's.

And here is Mudcat Saunders giving the Keynote.

As far as I know, Richard and I are the only two people to ever provide extensive video coverage of the exclusive fundraiser. I would go and do this every year, but Asheville is a bit far for me to travel on a lark.

In an effort to downplay Governor Aycock's blatant racism, Democrats have tried to say that they have honored him for his educational reforms. Really? Either they are completely ignorant of the types of educational reforms he supported, and his thinking behind them, or they support them.

To make sure that to honor him for his educational reforms is still honoring his racism, here is the thinking behind North Carolina Governor Charles Brantley Aycock's educational reforms in the early 20th Century from a book I have on the subject:

In 1900, North Carolina's public education for both races was among the poorest in the nation. Democrat Charles B. Aycock, a racist educational reformer, was elected governor that year. He believed that the primary reason for improving education was to train white voters. Uncharacteristically, from 1895 through 1898 Fusionists - agrarian Populists (many former democrats) and Republicans (many of them african Americans) - had controlled state government. In 1900, Democrats used the Fusion period to justify white supremacy and African American disenfranchisement as safeguards against "Negro domination." It is no wonder, then, that Aycock, whose view on education for African Americans was limited, was chosen to rescue the state. He and other educational liberals cleverly used the race question despite opposition to their centralizing educational tendencies from white rural fundamentalists and blacks who recognized the inequities of public education. A related issue was the state's need to educate a cheap, docile, but effective African American labor force. Yet the political threat of African American voters was the center of the white supremacy campaign behind the school reform movement around 1900.

Carolina Blogburst and Linkfest Extraordinaire!!!

Here is what is being blogged about by bloggers in North Carolina, divided into rough categories:

Conservative Bloggers

The Appalachian Scribe is still in Korea, and still blogging about things Carolina and Tennessee.

The Carolina Stompers have noted that the cost of the Coronation, I mean Inauguration of Obama will cost 110 million dollars!!! That's nearly 30 cents per person in the country.

Cold Fury has an article on the Clinton/Rodham crime family.

Hillbilly White Trash has comments on the little messiah's new pastime, RINO hunting.

The Inner Banks Eagle also comments on it, noting that conservative has lost it's meaning. I can only add that it lost it's meaning long ago, and certain proof was that John McCain called himself a conservative with near impunity in this last election cycle, and most "conservative" bloggers let him. I did not, and also noted that the majority of active Republicans are not conservative

The problem is that most people think of themselves as conservative in our party because they get the warm fuzzies about President Reagan, and neglect to actually study conservatism, or it's history.

Insight on Freedom, one of my favorite North Carolina bloggers, has a piece called "The Attack of the "useful Idiots" Against Israel". To which I can only add, Amen, brother!

The Pirates Cove comments that the latest message from Osama to Obama sounds like something you'd find on a lefty blog. Those are my thoughts exactly.

Think Tank Bloggers

The Buncombe County GOP is asking for people to join their online community, which is on the same platform I have mine on, Ning. If you wish to create an online community of like-minded people for fun or debate...there is no better way than the Ning platform. I am a memeber of about a dozen or so Ning communities, and you can find more about Ning on their blog...and their latest post trumpets the creation of 40,000 new networks in 14 days!

A new "blog" has been created by some guys in Raleigh called Conservative NC, and they posted a plan called NC GOP Strategy for Sucess.

The NCGOP blog, Seeing Red Again, has issued the latest e-Newsletter, and has started a facebook page to go with a new website they will be launching on inauguration day.

Jeff Taylor, on the John Locke Foundation blog, The Meck Deck, pays tribute to Ricardo Montalban on his passing.

The Public Policy Polling blog examines black turnout in North Carolina in the last election.

Jon Ham, on the John Locke Foundation blog Right Angles, asks us who the real nazis are.

The John Locke Foundation blog, The Wild West, wonders if anyone likes Asheville's Master Downtown Plan

Neutral Territory Bloggers

Blue Ridge blogger Marie posted a snowy photo.

Legacy Media Bloggers

Capital Beat has video of the new North Carolina Governor, Bev Perdue in Washington DC, presumably to line up at the trough.

Commies, Lefties and Progressives, Oh My!

The Action Center for Justice has posted information on where terrorist-loving lefties can gather online and plan some direct action in support of "palestinians".

AshVegas has noted the Gannett "one week layoff" for Asheville Citizen-Times employees this quarter, and has linked to a piece from Asheville on the Ground about a "tree slaughter". I guess it is a good thing that these people have no idea how many trees i have "slaughtered", and worse yet, piled up and burned...with the sap still running... [Video to follow!]

I wish I could get to Asheville more often...these lefties NEED SOME SERIOUS MOCKING!!!

BlogAsheville has a good piece up on the troubles of the dead tree media.

BlueNC has posted a video of their darling, Congress Critter Larry Kissell speechifying on SCHIP.

Cecil Bothwell is urging the lemming-lefties to get CFL light bulbs with minimal Mercury so they won't get too much Mercury poisonong when they break...

Dancewater is one of those useful idiots that Longstreet blogged about.

On Pam's House Blend, Pam Spaulding is now whining about the late pick of a gay bishop to speak at an Obama inaugaration event. I'm thinking that these people won't be happy unless Obama held an official gay orgy on the podium while he was being sworn in.

The Progressive Democrats of North Carolina has a copy of a letter by David Parker, who is running to be the new chair of the Democrat Party of North Carolina.

The Scrutiny Hooligans have a post on the committee assignments for Senator Kay Hagan, and Gordon Smith has a piece on BlogAsheville on chances to participate in the communist Downtown Master Plan for Asheville, NC

Jason Bugg is gonna buy a present for a black person MLK Day.

The audio for the January 13, 2009 Take A Stand was posted last night. [Hr 1] [Hr 2] [Hr 3]

Errinton Thompson has a news roundup from a lefty perspective.

Well, that's it for now. If you are one of the bloggers and don't like your category...tough, I have  made my call.

More on these races here.

Commentary

My expectation is that Troxler will be the only Republican elected in these races for multiple reasons...the chief of which is an excrutiating to watch ignorance in how to run a campaign on all levels...from raising money to putting in campaign appearances that are woefully unadvertised. Unless they rebuild their campaigns from the ground up...I expect no change in my assessment.

**update** 2.30PM Civitas has released their August Decision Maker Poll and, to my mind, it serves to confirm my assertion that the candidates and the North Carolina GOP are not getting the message out to voters.

North Carolina's DNC Delegates Eat Courtesy of Capitalism in Denver

This morning, AT&T fed them. Under The Dome has more.

Asheville Democratic Party Headquarters Trashed

This is what I found on the local lefty and anarchist news site, InfoShop, from a group calling itself "Citizens Hoping Against New Gas Emissions":

DNC / RNC 2008

Last night, on the eve of the Democratic National Convention, we trashed the Democratic Party Headquarters in Asheville, NC. We dumped several gallons of used motor oil onto their front porch and painted, "No war, No warming, No Drilling" on their walls.

We took this action to express our outrage at the Democrats pandering to the oil companies. Instead of looking for real solutions to global warming, the Democratic party, including the head honcho himself, Barack Obama, is pushing to open up more of our fragile coastal ecosystems to oil drilling. If this plan is allowed to go forward thousands of miles of coastline could be devastated by this toxic industry. All the while, greenhouse gas emissions will escalate, and our Earth's climate will teeter closer to the tipping point.

Meanwhile the Democrats continue to fully support the war on terror. While making half hearted gestures about ending the Iraq war, they have remained unabashed supporter of the war in Afghanistan. One recent highlight of this "just" war was the massacre of over 90 civilians at a wedding last week. Democrats, may the ghost of these innocents haunt you for the rest of your lives.

This action was taken in solidarity with all those in the streets of Denver, and people around the world who refuse to be silent.

PUMA, Obama and the DNC

PUMA's Shadowing the Dean Bus Tour with PUMA Asheville, Atlanta and Greenville

A local leader in the PUMA Movement in the North Carolina Democratic Party sent the video to me, and she wants the voters to know about the crimes of Obama:

You can find out more at Obama Crimes, where the are files you can download for further examination.

Wildflower Sandi's Obama playlist.
The local PUMA blog in Asheville.
Another PUMA blog, Confluence.

I first met Sandi through this video I edited when I saw how the DNC treated Hillary...and allowed Obama to walk through another primary by disqualifying his opponent through paperwork and legalese, just as he did in 1996. Now, Hillary Supporters have taken a page from Obama's own playbook:

A prominent Philadelphia attorney and Hillary Clinton supporter filed suit this afternoon in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, the Democratic National Committee and the Federal Election Commission. The action seeks an injunction preventing the senator from continuing his candidacy and a court order enjoining the DNC from nominating him next week, all on grounds that Sen. Obama is constitutionally ineligible to run for and hold the office of President of the United States.

I consider it Political Karma.

Mocking Senator Obama's choice for a 3 AM notification of his choice for announcing Biden as running mate, the McCain Campaign has released a campaign commercial at 3 AM this morning called Passed Over:

NC Democrat Video Tying McCrory To President Bush

This is a move that is likely to win conservatives over to McCrory

I kid you not! Just watch it:

For those of us who have been concerned about GOP Candidate for Governor Pat McCrory being RINO, the North Carolina Democrat Party has decided to help us see McCrory in a more favorable light. This is one of those rare commercials that work just as effectively (perhaps more) in getting people to vote for the candidate the makers don't want you to vote for!!!

Democratic Candidates Converge on Asheville,
And Scrutiny Hooligans Were There

Arratik and I, after loading up with kegs of Caffiend’s finest roast, ventured into the blowing snow and made our way to UNC-Asheville’s Lipinsky Auditorium for the first of six scheduled debates between the Democratic candidates for Lieutenant Governor. Moderated by NC 11th District Democratic Party Chairman, Luke Hyde, and organized by the NC Young Democrats, the debate allowed too much time for each response and too little chance to compare candidates stances. Each of the four men meandered away from the prescribed questions. They’re politicians, after all, and they’re going to keep talking if you let them. Very few questions were answered at the Jan. 19th debate, but the ones that were reveal four distinct personalities running on four different records.

The debate was dominated by environment and energy issues, and this being Asheville, that’s no surprise. I imagine that each debate will have its own set of pet issues, so I’m hopeful that we’ll have a comprehensive picture of each candidate by the end of the series.

Source: Scrutiny Hooligans

Gordon and Arratik have done good work in with their coverage of the field jockeying for the nod to be the Democrat candidate for Lt. Governor of North Carolina.

It is a safe bet that their coverage will be better than what you will read in the Asheville Citizen-Times.
