Mick Taylor was asked to do a Radio Interview as part of a upcoming Rolling Stones Special being put together, he was asked to maybe take part in some Stones Classic Tunes, unknown to Mick was what songs he would be asked to play, so what you hear here is the Genius of Mick Taylor, doodling to songs he hadn't played in a 1/4 of a Century ! Well Mick seemed to pick up right where he left off, it is amazing to hear how he just starts picking apart Time Waits for no One, this is a classic song that Mick Taylor never got credit for writing the Melody, that song alone is worth the "price" of this CD.

Mick Taylor - 1989-10-27 - Cambridge, UK (DVDfull aud-shot)

(DVDfull aud-shot)

Well, were you a little disappointed when you got the Mick Taylor Hot Licks video? Well hallelujah! Here is the real thing. Watch as Mick seems a little confused. Watch Mick drink a beer. Watch Mick continually tweak the guitar and amp through out the show. Watch Mick fumble around for the slide. Watch Mick play some amazing guitar.

This is the same show (but not the same source) as the audio portion of the show I posted a few days ago. Did you listen to “Red House” yet? Well, here is your chance to watch the master in action. When you listened to "Red House" did you notice the great timing at the beginning of the slide solo? Well, really Mick is fumbling around in his pocket for the slide. He is so relaxed that it’s scary. His timing is just so natural. He makes it sound so great. As a side note here, I got it from a very reliable source that the guitar that Mick is playing is his favorite guitar that he has owned; wow. I'm not sure what happened to it but I know he dosen't have it anymore.

Goody's notes:
The speed/pitch of the source ran quite fast/sharp and at varying degrees for most of the tape.
That has been corrected for this edition, improving the presentation immensely, imho.
Channel alignment and levels were also adjusted as well as some tracking.
As it's a SBD, the balance of what needed to be reinforced vs. what was just loud enough coming from the stage is a bit off, with Mick's vocals being much louder in the mix than his guitar. Drums are quite prominent.
The piano is also a bit louder than it would normally have been heard for this same reason.
And, most unfortunately, there's no way to bring back Mick's iconic solo, missing here, in 'Can't You Hear Me Knockin'.
I'm sure that highly anticipated bit would have been here had the tape not run out.
Sadly, I'm sorry to point out that it's basically just a keyboard feature now; (including a sampled tenor saxophone replacement for the real thing...)

This tape is coming from nzb and has not been circulating widely and yet it’s an excellent soundboard recording! The biggest problem was the speed, way to speedy so the original tape was a tone too high. I did several tests, using the vol 18 as a reference… it appeared the tape had to be decelerated with 8%! Note that the right channel was a little saturated: I requilibrated by added +30% to the left channel.

From nice-sounding audience Dat master recorded close to stage in this small venue with not many people in attendance. Check the samples to judge the quality for yourself. I probably made a copy of this (for Dave White) back around when the show happened but it has not been shared here previously from the master.

This is a great Mick Taylor (ex guitar player for the Rolling Stones) show from my collection direct from the soundboard at the House of Blues in Chicago. As with most true soundboards there is very little crowd noise except way off in the distance so the show sounds a
little canned but none-the-less an excellent recording of a very inspired MT performance in a great blues town. How much better does it get?

Numerous focused level adjustments were made track by track, then the channels were mixed in varying proportions (changing at points within some songs in response to huge fluctuations in what was sent to the tape) to achieve the best balance and consistency I could find. Additional targeted level adjustments were made to my ending mix to address some remaining fluctuations/output changes.
