The festival is the only major concert project in Switzerland, in which both well-known local performers and international-class stars are represented. It is positioned as a place for sharing experiences, as along with celebrities, an excellent opportunity to manifest themselves within the framework of the festival is received by newcomers on the music scene. Surrounded by mountains and endless ski runs, Zermatt is famous for its longest winter ski season in the Alps. Shortly before the end of the season, the city turns into the capital of music, the main distinctive features of which are style, class and quality. The goal of the organizers is to make Zermatt Unplugged the most exclusive music festival in Switzerland. All performances are held in a cozy, chamber atmosphere.
Organizers
The founder and host of the event is Tom Talent, a media company based in Zurich, focusing on the coverage of Zermatt's life. The head of the company is Thomas Sterchi.
Patronage
The festival is held under the patronage of Princess Annie-Fried Reuss (ex-ABBA) and one of the founders of Deep Purple - John the Lord. The Advisory Committee includes: Solstice Denervaud (founder and owner of Ishtar Music in Lausanne), Urs Leierer (founder and director of the Blue Balls Festival in Lucerne), Ivo Sacchi (director of the Swiss branch of Universal Music), and Gerold Biner and Heinz Julen from Zermatt. The president of the advisory committee is Thomas Sterchi.

Between or after the Windows performances in Munich in June 1974 Jon Lord (Deep Purple) and Eberhard Schoener were asked to do a project for the "Rock Meets Classic" series, that German TV did in the early 70ies. It's not a real concert, the band and the orchestra separately rehearse and perform parts of Mozart's "Kroenungsmesse". The quality is good, except of a number of short video tape errors
