Sweet Tree [SC]

I've not done anything recently for the Sketchbook Challenge so I thought I would give it a go yesterday.
The theme this month is 'Sweets! Sugar and spice and all things nice'.
I don't know why but a tree with sweets growing on it came into my mind, so that is what I did.

TAST 51 and Fabric Samples

Take a stitch Tuesday - week 51 - Raised Herringbone Band.
I prefer stitches that grow quickly and this small sample seemed to take an age, so it is probably one that I won't use again. Click on the link above to see more samples.
I've stitched it in purple to go in another new journal. I've finished the green one, I'll post photos next week.

Below are the remainder of the Spoonflower fabric swatches.
I did have another version of all queens but I've altered this one for fabrics, the old one was better suited for a single placement such as a motif for a t-shirt.

This one is an altered doodle.

I have a larger version of this which is still available on Spoonflower, I thought it was more suitable for wallpaper or curtain fabric.

Another one using the doodle trees.

I had this one printed in with the last batch except it was bigger, I altered it so it would be more suitable for clothes and patchwork.

This one is actually altered snakes and a games board. The swatch looks very pretty.

This one was inspired by the tiles at the Alhambra Palace, Spain.
Have you got a favourite from the whole batch [30 swatches]?

Eight more Fabrics.

I used the doodle trees on three different fabrics

This one is a repeating pattern, a variation of one I did for a t-shirt top

I've got the original picture hanging up in my kitchen that inspired this design. It is a collage with stitching.
See the original here

I really liked how this one came out. It was originally a doodle in my sketchbook.

I used images from the Graphics Fairy and ephemera from thelandofnod for this one.

This one is quite an old one but I reduced the repeat size. The original art was a vase of lily's and a freehand machine embroidered queen of hearts.

A photo of a rose [one of mine] with the leaves from the graphics fairy on a background of vintage stationary.[some of it was the back of a photo]

I had this one printed on the first batch of swatches but I thought the repeat was too big so I reduced it in size. I probably should have left it at that size, it would have been right for curtains and soft furnishings.

Spoonflower Swatches

These are some of the Spoonflower fabric swatches I got the other day, I'm really pleased with how they came out.

I used images from the Graphics Fairy and ephemera from The land of Nod for the design above.

These two were developed from a piece of hand painted fabric which I had embroidered.

The one above is one of my favourites, I started with a photo of a decorative pillar on the Natural History museum building.
The spotty toadstools was one that I created on my galaxy note pad.

New Collage and Fabric Swatches

I've been working on a new collage worked on a canvas. I used artwork, found papers, painted music and book pages. The bird was from a DVD I have of the Naturalist Library.

My new batch of fabric swatches came today from Spoonflower, I will show you in more detail over the next few days.

TAST 50

Take a Stitch Tuesday - Inverted Feather Stitch
I found it hard to keep neat, it is a new stitch to me but I don't think I will be using it again. I put on beads to make it look a bit better and attached it to a page of my green journal that I am working on at the moment.
The stitching is on some vintage woollen fabric and that is attached to some marbled fabric which I did years ago while doing the City & Guilds embroidery course.
