Working Woman

I combined a photo, a vintage image and a drawing.
The photo is Joe the quilter's cottage at Beamish, the vintage image is the woman's body and the drawing is the face.

Watch the Birdie

I painted the parrot above but the bird below was taken from a greetings card. The vintage image was from a cookery book, I gave it a bit of colour with paint.

Eight more Fabrics.

I used the doodle trees on three different fabrics

This one is a repeating pattern, a variation of one I did for a t-shirt top

I've got the original picture hanging up in my kitchen that inspired this design. It is a collage with stitching.
See the original here

I really liked how this one came out. It was originally a doodle in my sketchbook.

I used images from the Graphics Fairy and ephemera from thelandofnod for this one.

This one is quite an old one but I reduced the repeat size. The original art was a vase of lily's and a freehand machine embroidered queen of hearts.

A photo of a rose [one of mine] with the leaves from the graphics fairy on a background of vintage stationary.[some of it was the back of a photo]

I had this one printed on the first batch of swatches but I thought the repeat was too big so I reduced it in size. I probably should have left it at that size, it would have been right for curtains and soft furnishings.

Woman and Bear

I did this digital collage a while ago, I was saving it for something, don't know what.
The image of the woman and bear, yes they were together was from a book I have - Women Archive Pictures. The background was a photo I took of a gravestone and graveyard.

Altered Box

I got the box from friend Gill, she was having a sort out so I took it off her hands. It was originally brown wood but I painted it with a creamy coloured paint. The vintage typography papier is an image from The Graphics Fairy and I used mod podge to transfer a laser print of it. The Graphics Fairy has a list of 12 transfer methods as well as lots of lovely images.
I've been making some jewellery, so it will be great to keep all those bits and pieces together in the box.

Sewing Lady and Lace Effect fabric

Sewing Lady - Above is a digital collage made up of lace, hand embroidery and a vintage image from the book 'Women: A Pictorial Archive from Nineteenth-century Sources'
Yesterday I posted images of transfer lace, well this is the fabric that was under the lace when I transferred the colour from the paper with an iron.

Chair Stencil

Above - the finished picture
I started with a photo of a chair and my challenge was to make a stencil
I drew the chair, then simplified it to make a stencil, I used it both sides to make facing chairs. The background was painted and it was collaged to a doodle in a sketchbook.
The ladies in the finished picture were added digitally.
They were from a Women Archive book.
