Nature Picture - Inktense

My picture finished at last. I started it a few weeks before lockdown which is 7 weeks now I think, so it has taken some time to do.I wanted to use one of the pictures in my sketchbook but it wasn't big enough so I added more to it. I've had a canvas measuring 24" square [61cm] waiting to be used for a long time so I wanted the picture to fit around that. I started by painting the fabric with Inktense blocks and crayons. Then came the freehand machine embroidery. Hand stitching came next, this took a long time. When finished I wrapped it around the canvas and fixed in place.

It's Friday, so it's time for Paint Party Friday

Melted Pastel Painting

I had some cheap nasty waxy oil pastels that I didn't like to draw with so I thought I would melt them over a canvas. I used a heat tool and held them individually with some tea bag tongs.
Which way up?
I liked the colours but thought it wasn't quite right so I melted more and spread the melted wax over bare bits of canvas with an old paintbrush.
A close up
I still wasn't sure about it. Then I remembered that I've got a melting pot. I put a few similar colour pastels in at once to melt then poured over the canvas.
Either way up.
Close ups.

Still not sure but the pastels are all gone apart from black.

Poppy Heads Applique

I painted canvas fabric with acrylic paints for this picture. The poppy heads were printed on top with hand made stamps and acrylic paint. The stamps were made with fun foam cut on my Zing cutting machine and stuck to strong card. The poppies were outlined with stitching and I stitched on a few strips of painted fabric for interest.
