Discuss: Land of the Giants

Karen: Another Irwin Allen production, how many of you recall this minor sci fi series with Earth men trapped on a world of giants? The show was on from 1968-1970 and had a total of 51 episodes. Honestly, Lost in Space just looks better and better the more I see of Allen's other shows.

True or False: Lost in Space was a Terrible TV Show

Doug:  I just saw this (hopefully it's not old news to the rest of you) while eating lunch.  You can click here for the whole article and a photo.  Of course we learned just last week that Wanda and Pietro are being added to the cast of Avengers 2; apparently there will be some sort of marrying of the X and Avengers film franchises?  Lordy, does that mean Avengers 3 will include Wolverine??

Director Bryan Singer announced on his Twitter feed that Evan Peters from the "American Horror Story" series has joined the cast of X-Men: Days Of Future Past in the role of Magneto's son, Pietro Maximoff, aka Quicksilver.

"Before he was an #Avenger, he was just a REALLY fast kid. Thrilled to say #EvanPeters is joining #XMen #DaysOfFuturePast as #Quicksilver."

Discuss: Lost in Space

Karen: Welcome to the first in a series of discussions that look at some of the science fiction shows we watched as kids. I've skipped biggies like Star Trek, Dr. Who, Twilight Zone, and Outer Limits, as we've already talked about these in the past. Feel free also to suggest topics for future discussions. We have a few lined up but we can always add more.

Karen:What do you think of Irwin Allen's 1960s TV show, Lost in Space? Has your opinion changed over the years?

Karen: I found the bright colors, explosions, special effects, and especially the robot very attractive as a kid (seeing it in reruns) but I knew it was not as good as Star Trek, and it was a bit of a guilty pleasure. It seems like the first season or maybe first few episodes started out as a serious SF show and then the stories seemed to become more kiddie-oriented. And of course you either love or hate Dr. Smith. But let's hear what you think.
