Doug:  Here's another round of those mastheads we've used over the years to liven up the place.  Enjoy!

Alex Ross does the Avengers, and Holiday Mastheads

Doug:  I know Alex Ross has his detractors around here -- neither Karen or I are in that camp.  We love the guy's work, and will feature it in our December reviews.  Anyway, Friday I saw the image below, which is a variant cover to Avengers #25, and is part of Marvel's 75th Anniversary.  Well done, Mr. Ross!  I want this as a poster!!

Doug:  With Halloween just past and Thanksgiving on the horizon, today's trip through our masthead history settles in on those holiday-themed greetings you've seen as you arrive here each day.  I've added a few of our "just for fun" mastheads to round out today's discussion.  And again -- man, I'm all over the place trying to get the "bronze" color right...  :/

 

The BAB Masthead: A History (part two)

Doug:  A couple of weeks ago we took a trip back through BAB Masthead memories.  Today we're showcasing a few more of the images that have welcomed our readers to the blog each day.  One of the things you'll notice in this batch is that I don't always get the "bronze" color right!

The BAB Masthead -- A History

Doug:  I know that every now and then we just like looking at comic covers, logos, character designs, etc.  So it occurred to me that there may be some newer readers who haven't seen the evolution of the masthead that sits atop our blog.  The original inspiration to have a custom design came from our colleague the Groovy Agent, caretaker of Diversions of the Groovy Kind (a recommended daily stop for all!).  I've never been able to duplicate the professional-looking number that he displays (and indeed others he's dazzled us with through the years), but I try to take a stab at something topical for each month's comic book reviews.  It wasn't always this way, as you'll see that our first efforts were meant to merely encompass the spirit of what it meant to grow up in the Bronze Age.

We may revisit this topic, but today we'll start you off with a foray deep into the archives of the Bronze Age Babies for some of our earliest mastheads, and even a few of our more recent efforts.  Enjoy!
