I am a Thief!

Wednesday...

The twins had early choir today. I bought groceries after dropping Abby off. I rushed home to put frozen veggies in the freezer and then went to the high school to check Allen out of school. Allen had an hour-long orthodontist appointment and then went back to school and begged for mercy in the library (see below). Jane had dance at 3:30. Abby got a ride with Calli to the placer county spelling written test and then we picked her up at their house after dance. The YW had volleyball at the stake center, Ross had a ministering interview at the Cherry Building while the girls had a primary activity, Allen played soccer with the teachers quorum, Abby went with them because she can't do volleyball and Jill hung out. Ross played basketball at the stake center with his group at 9 because we had tickets to the BYU game the following night.

"I am a Thief!" This book title popped up on my library card as overdue. Wait, whaaaaat?! ...No one had ever heard of it and the cover didn't look familiar to any of my bookworm readers. I shared this problem with the librarian and after triple-checking their shelves she removed it from my account and marked it missing... Whew! (😅Good because I hate paying fines, especially for a book I didn't even check out)... "Mom, you better hope we don't find it later at home because then you really will be a thief!"... 🤔 ... 😆!! #welovethelibrary

These two smart girls took the written Placer County Spelling Bee after school! 😊🐝✍️

5th Place in the Spelling Bee

Tuesday...

{Day 16 & 17: Share about an ancestor and share a smile} ... I went to the temple today representing an ancestor named Abbie that was born 1876 in New York. And I made many people inside smile because, let's face it, smiling is contagious. 😊
👋Hi Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus!
**If you look really close in the sky you can see v-shape of birds. It's like they are pointing to the angel Moroni.**
Today's Temple thought comes from the Doctrine & Covenants. {I feel like I should explain to those reading this post that aren't not familiar with this book... it's compiled revelations to the Prophet Joseph Smith which helped restore the truths and priesthood of Christ's church again on Earth after the authority and power was taken from the earth after Jesus and His Apostles were killed. The revelations are the Lord talking...}
📖"Verily I say unto you, that it is my will that a house should be built unto me in the land of Zion, like unto the PATTERN which I have given you. Yea, let it be built speedily, by the TITHING of my people."
—Doctrine & Covenants 97:10–11
I like following patterns. It always brings success. 💞
December is the month of tithing settlement for members of the Church. Paying tithing brings many blessings and one is being able to attend the temple.
[As I was getting ready to post this I saw the headline that church leaders had issued a statement about church finances... Interesting timing. 😉]

On the ward Facebook page I offered to make more rice crispy treats for the social after the Christmas service. One of my YW leaders (youngest class) said her husband would be thrilled because he ate 9 last week at the ward party. She said one of her 2020 goals would be to learn the Tucker recipe for crispy treats. So I shared the recipe, the tip of cooking it on the lowest setting and told her that she owed me a harp lesson. (She played the harp beautifully at the ward party and I would love to have one lesson how it works).

Ready to watch a spelling bee to see two of my young women, one being my daughter! 😁♥️
Out of hundreds of 7th graders they both made top ten to get here. Wahoo! 🙌

5th place! 🐝
She wants to visit the pyramids of gisa now... I mean giza.

5th place out 900 students is pretty awesome.

On the way home we tuned to the radio channel and enjoyed this Christmas house.

Placer County Spelling Bee

Wednesday...

The appliance came and took out the broken glass, vacuumed it up and installed a new glass piece. All those pieces are broken glass.

The girls were inspired by the animal shelter tour last week and created their own on Sunday. I took pictures because I dismantled some of it. I love how they creatively used boxes from the garage and set out food and different supplies for the animals. They have an office with a computer and phone. I love kid play!!

Beautiful! It's fixed!

Waiting for the spelling bee to start. I arranged for two other moms to take the girls after school at the elementary and the middle school, mostly because the girls didn't want to miss test/quiz and activities going on in their classes that afternoon.

Placer county spelling bee. 4th place. 🐝

Pretty good for zero study on his part and zero encouragement from mom to study (I didn't even open the packet) this time, but he did the best he's ever done. Yay Allen! I guess that's what we get from years of reading and checking out stacks of library books. :)

This was posted to the Eich FB page that evening:

Congratulations to 4 Eich students who did an excellent job today in the Placer County Spelling Bee. Alia (grade 6) came in 9th place. Emelia (grade 7) came in 10th place. Allen (grade 😎 came in 4th place and Amee (grade 😎 came in 6th place.

To get to this competition, the students scored in the top 10 in their grade level for the entire county, which covers 12 districts and about 40,000 students.

That evening was the young women practice volleyball game against the 7th ward. They won all three games!! Our girls get better every year.

Go FOURTH and serve! 🏐

Touch Table & Spelling Bee News

Monday morning I dropped kids at both school and headed back to the first to help in the Kindergarten science docent. The topic was the five senses. I was put at the "touch table" where six felt bags had something mysterious in the middle and the kids tried to guess what it might be and then they passed the bag. At the end I had a separate paper bag with the loose items so the kids would see what they were feeling. We talked about how our fingers are covered with skin or epidermis. There are receptors we use in our fingers that send messages to the brain and help us guess what something might be as far as hard, soft, big/small, shape... Kindergartners are cute! Here's mine across the table from me. :)

After my table kids rotated to a hearing table (tuning forks), taste table (tried salt water and other tastes on a q-tip) and a smelling table (little cotton balls dipped in different scents like maple syrup).

When I got home I was eager to watch the first episode of the new season of Victoria! And I planned out the week ahead, as far as menu and what tasks I would do what day, and thought more about New Beginnings and how to break up the tasks. It was my big brother's b'day so I sent him a text and we mailed a birthday card a few days ago. This year I bought actual birthday cards and we'll just sign names and put a piece of gum inside. The gum can be our family trademark. We've done it for years. Helps bring costs down instead of putting a dollar in in. :) We've got big families on both sides.

I also cleared out all the YW stuff from our garage, got rid of a trash bag full and loaded up the van with the stuff to take to my new church closet and shed (that's where the 2 tents were going).

When I picked up the older kids at school. I had this exchange with Allen:

Head down, ashamed voice: "Mom I had to go to the office today..."
*head up, smiles
"...to get this."
*Opens envelope.
Man, does this kid know how to tease! 😂🎉

That evening after dinner and bathrooms were clean we went over to the Cherry Building and everyone helped load all my YW stuff from the van to the new closet. Then we played sardines in the building. I didn't really play but organized my shelves, explored the building (noting where butcher paper rolls were, the cleaning closet was with garbage bags and spray and gloves and checked to see if my New Beginnings video would work on a library tv, and looked to see what rooms my key would open... some of those findings would be very helpful for our first youth activity night since this place to new to everyone.)

Two Kids in the Spelling Bee

On Thursday I had an Endo appt.

Routine endo visit today. My blood pressure is, once again, perfect. 🙌 BG levels are slightly better than last time. 😉💉😁

❤️🎄❤️ CHRISTmas Nativity Exhibit. I thoroughly enJOYed seeing this all by myself. I could go my own pace, contemplate, and savor each Nativity. There are 454 on display. This is such a BEAUTIFUL event that is FREE and kicks off the holiday season displaying the REASON why we celebrate. I'm thankful for our SAVIOR and that he came to earth to teach us and redeem us. This exhibit is going on today, tomorrow, and Saturday from noon-9pm. I'll be going over again with my family, but because it's so SPECTACULAR, I wanted to go a 2nd time. I love the feeling there. ❤️🎄❤️ @ Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

😄 I'm doubly excited (and nervous) to see these two spellers in tonight's bee! It's so fun that they are in it together!! 🐝❤️🐝 @ Warren T. Eich Intermediate
