3rd Grade Fieldtrip

My name was drawn (4 papers were picked from parents) a few days ago and so today I joined the 3rd graders on their fieldtrip to the Carnegie Museum. We had three stations -- museum, walking tour to old buildings and dancing the Virginia Reel. It was a lot of fun!

That evening Bryan and his new wife and 2 girls came for dinner and stay 2 nights. We had some good talks before and after dinner. The girls had softball so they brought their girls to a park to play. The ball players joined the fun when they were done. Ross and Bryan played men's basketball. For dinner (and because it was Cinco De Mayo) I made chicken taco salad, queso, guacamole and cut up watermelon, grapes and pineapple. We had 2 scoops of ice cream after softball and scriptures.

Baby is the temple

...Cookies (made night before), Laundry (started night before), late night sitting near AP homework boy (1am and went to Foof, he went up to bed at 2am and I finally got up to bed at 3am and got up again 5:30am to help seminary kids), school drop-off, 4th grade fieldtrip to Coloma (Jane and Emma are 5th graders and got to go because they are in a combo class and there were no fieldtrips last year so their teacher wanted her 5th graders to go), final laundry sorting and ironing, frozen lasagna (crank up that oven because I put it in an hour later!), YM/YW family history activity (I was there about 15 min -- Ross and I did a training on Sunday with the youth consultants so they were prepared to mostly lead the teaching), Temple Sealing and I was asked to hold the baby!

I absolutely LOVED carrying a baby through the temple. After the parents were sealed I was excused to get the baby and bring her from the waiting room. Paislee has a permanent smile on her face and we waved at Jesus in every picture we passed. I have walked those halls many times and I just loved having a baby in arms! Every temple worker smiled as we passed. It was tricky holding baby up with one arm and hold her hand with the other, but we made it. The last time we went to the Pedrinis and did sealings at the temple they had the same sealer that helped us when we did sealings together in February. Savannah joined the church during covid. I remember watching her baptism over zoom. I was assigned to be her ministering sister and she was expecting her first baby. I texted her about 3 months and coordinated a baby shower without ever talking to her in person or knowing what she looked like. I continued to drop stuff at doors monthly and slowly get to know her. And I'd talk to her at church. In December she asked me to be her escort in the temple when she received her endowment. Her husband Chris plays basketball with Ross and they have gotten to be friends. We did a double date in February to do sealings and had a temple appointment with them in March but they were sick and cancelled. We knew they were eager for their own sealing and I was happy when Chris called Ross (we were in San Fran on vacation) and told him about it and asked if I would hold the baby during the sealing. I was absolutely delighted!!! They are a special family. I am glad the Relief Society assigned her to me for ministering. They were hesitant because they knew it would take time and work to fellowship this new family, but I'm happy it all worked out. Paislee comes to nursery and she loves the songs we do. In a few months she'll be officially old enough. They were married 1-20-20 and Paislee was born 1-20-21. Chris said their sealing could be the anniversary now since baby took the day of their other anniversary :)

See the mill plaque behind me? I'm standing on the bridge.
That rock wall/black plaque on the left side of the river is where the mill was and gold was found in the "tail race" (ahead) of that spot.
An hour of panning for gold. Allen texted me as I was pacing around the kids and said he got a message from Sunsplash and he got the job he interviewed for last week!

The gold hunters "Walmart"

Emma brought her pyrite from another time he had come here
Quote and date of gold discovery was from Henry Bigler (member of the Church and the Mormon Battalion) and other information about the area was because he wrote in his journal :) ...see how important it is to keep a record?
Norm our tour guide told chronological stories connecting facts at the time to explain how everything got together like a puzzle
