Poop in the pool

This morning we went to the indoor pool. The rest of the family reunion clan joined us because of the rain outside. We were all having a grand time until they closed the pool because of poop found in the shallow end. (It wasn't our kids, they had their Little Swimmers on.)
Later we hung out at Grandma & Grandpa's condo and I taught the nieces and nephews a card game called Bohnanza. I love this bean trading game. Games are fun when the weather is crummy outside.
This is a picture of the condo we've been staying in all week at the Tucker Family Reunion. We are leaving for home tomorrow. It's been a fun family reunion and a nice vacation at the beach and Outer Banks (OBX), North Carolina.

Beach Bliss

"I had fun at the beach" is something Allen told Grandpa Tucker after dinner. Today we were at the beach from 11am-2pm. Even after sunscreen we all got burned, but we had fun.

Abby loved it the most! She loved her independence of crawling along the shoreline and having the waves splash her. She had no fear -- she was in heaven! (Below is a short video clip of Abby).

Allen was more interested in the sand. Ross and I went out on the water on floaties (thanks Gina and Beth for watching our kids!). This beach is different than Chicago's because the sand is whiter, softer, and the water is salty!, but both Lake Michigan and the Atlantic Ocean are cold. We brought home enough sand to have beach time at home and in the car.

Splash! Abby isn't phased when big tough waves push her hard.

Now she's crawling into them...

Sties in OBX

Today our family spent part of the day with Dana & Christine's family. (Dana is Ross's oldest brother.) We went to the Currituck Lighthouse and the Wright Brothers Monument.

The Currituck Lighthouse in Corolla, NC is about 50 minutes north of Kitty Hawk, NC.

Tucker family: Dana, Malia, Christine, Nathan, Elise and Lucas. (Malia is Allen's age. )

We climbed the 214 steps. I carried Abby and Ross carried Allen. It's 162 feet high.

The view from the top -- if you look you can see water on both sides.
Abby is fussy because she wants to crawl around on the top of the tower, but we don't want her to :) Exhibit inside the lighthouse

Ross is at the top of Kill Devil Hills. At the top of the hill is a large monument (picture below). Behind him down on the lawn there is a cabin (reproduction of Wrights camp) and markers of how far their first 4 flights were. Miss Abby posing as a future pilot.

ALL TUCKERED OUT -- This photo was taken during dinner. After seeing the lighthouse and the airplane monument, Allen went with Ross to the pool. He was exhausted afterwards! It was funny watching him talk and chew trying to keep his eyes open, but finally losing the battle. He still managed to eat some of his corn dog while he slept. Ever seen anyone sleep-eat? (Allen is wearing a sticker, "I climbed Currituck Beach Lighthouse.")
