Shiley March Madness

March has been an exiting month for the Shileys

1. The Tuckers came to visit and boy did we have a great time! Caleb game them a tour of the Wal-mart home office and we went to the Station and the square to eat burgers while the kids played. We played a lot of Bononza and Ticket to Ride. The weather was beautiful and we enjoyed playing on the playground right outside of our apartment complex.

2. Caleb and Annette had a good friend that was baptized and they were able to participate at the baptism. Caleb game a talk on the Holy Ghost and Annette gave the opening prayer. Both Caleb and Annette participated in a musical number. We are excited for Terri and Zoey Bartchek! We know the gospel will bless their lives immensely.

3. Annette finished her basket weaving class and has met many friends from Arkansas. Many of which she has been able to share the gospel with.
4. St. Patrick’s was wonderful! We had an authentic meal of Corn beef and Cabbage and watched Darby “O Gill and the Little People.

5. It has been really windy here. We enjoy going outside and flying our kites a lot. A lot of our Indian neighbors enjoy flying them with us even if they do just watch.

6. Caleb and Annette started their porch garden. They planted hanging baskets, basil, oregano, parsley, cilantro, and flowers. The Stake allows families to use some of their land to also plant gardens. Caleb and Annette are planning to plant melon, tomatoes, corn, potatoes, and all the sorts at the church plot.

7. Hyrum has learned to feed himself. Caleb and Annette prepare the bottle, and Hyrum grabs it holds it and eats it himself. In fact he gets upset if you try to feed him. He has two bottom teeth now and smiles all the time!!!!

8. Caleb is helping to create a new program that Sam’s Club has never seen before. It is a slow but sure process and he is already starting to see some success. He is able to take many classes that Wal-Mart offers and pays for. He is enjoying continuing to learn bout a variety of things.

Fayettville Fun!

Here is an update on what we are doing!

This Saturday the three of us explored Fayettville Arkansas home of University of Arkansas Razerbacks. He started the adventure at the Bill and Hillary Clinton house in Fayettville where they both lived while they were teaching at the University.

We checked out the enormouse football stadium and went to lunch at a food place called Zaxby’s. We took an old stage coach road they used before the Cival War to deliver mail. We had a blast.

Hyrum has discovered his voice and is learning how to scoot on his back. His hair is now three inches long and still sticks straight up. Everyone has been calling him “Calvin” from Calvin and Hobbs. He loves to talk at church especially during Priesthood. He is able to hold his own bottle pretty well, and he smiles all the time!

Annette is taking a basketweaving class right now and is loving it. This last week she made her first cake here in Arkansas. Her and Hyrum like to go to the Library, play group, walks, to the store, and on small outings. Annette is teaching the Beehive class and loves her calling.

Caleb is enjoying working with his team at Sam’s Club. He has also been enjoying cooking for visitors that come over for dinners. He still makes Annette laugh. He just finished reading Howard W. Hunter’s biorgraphy and now he’s on to the next read. The branch is having a baptism coming up and Caleb has been asked to speak at it. The investigators love Caleb.

My First Blog!

We are enjoying being here in Arkansas. We are excited that we have a blog to share with friends and family. This is what we have each been doing.

Caleb: Caleb is enjoying working for Sam’s Club. The joke at the office is that he brings the snow where ever he goes. It snowed a lot this week and just like Caleb, he was out driving to work. Snow didn’t stop him.

Annette: Annette is meeting lots of new friends. This week she went with her friend Neja from India to shop for some house decor and for some Italian Icecream.

Hyrum: Is very smiley and happy most of the time. His hair is spikey and doesn’t lay down even with gel. (Believe us, we have tried.) He loves his bouncer and is constantly making new sounds.
