~*OPAM*....One Project A Month~

For OPAM this month I have 2 little items

The first one is a little phone cover

I purchased a kit from Hatched and Patched

all opened up

and the back

no surprises that I made something of Anni's LOL
the pattern is in Anni's book 'In The Life of a Bag'

The next one is a scissor fob that was to be put into the Swap Basket at Girls Day In The Country hosted by Kerry
The scissors aren't part of it......I just put mine in as they matched!

The lady who received this is Bec (no blog)
And the pattern is by Anni!

Thanks again Peg and Kris for hosting OPAM...
I am really enjoy trying to achieve a finish each month!

Finishing School 2012...and Darling Harbour Quilt Show!!!

Earlier this year I signed up for Finishing School at Steph's Patchwork Moruya...
This entails going once a month with any project and getting advice/help from Jan who can answer anything sewing wise and doesn't think any question is stupid!
Good On You Jan!!!

One of the first things I learnt was how to make a twisted cord on my sewing machine...

I've taken pics of Jan doing this so I can come back to them...

I fell in love with this table runner by Bareroots

here is my one under Steph's one...and I can proudly say I will show it off in this month's OPAM (One Project a Month)

I was able to use Steph's table at another time and Deb assisted me in pinning my Bars Of Gold Quilt altogether......Thanks so much Deb!!!

Jan showed me how to 'tuck' one end of binding into another when finishing off the binding on the quilt...and yes, another for OPAM...
Here one end is pinned down...

and then up again......the last bit of the binding tucks into this one...
What a neat finish this is!!!

How to mitre a corner...

Thanks so much Jan...you have been so helpful!!!

A show-and-tell here...

And check this out...I call it a Fat Quarter Quilt...
great for (spare) fat 1/4's......leftover ones......favourite ones......quick quilts......the list would be endless I think!!!

And here is Karan proudly displaying her quilt......I did take a pic without her boots but this was too cute to let go!!!

I'm loving Finishing School and hope to make more progress on my Quilt of Stitches......

And it's nearly time for a Blogger's Meet at The Craft and Quilt Fair at Darling Harbour where I'll finally get to meet other Kindred Spirits!!!

See you there gals!!!

OPAM for February now finished...PHEW!!!
This project I first mentioned back in December 2008...
I finally started it last year...

Scissor holder sitting on top of fabric which is to hold a pincushion...

From Country Threads magazine Volume 9 No 3...Mary Agnes Sewing Set by Kate Hampson at That Raggedy One...

Kates's version from the magazine...

My pincushion and scissor holder...

The pin cushions sits on a fabric covered board with felt underneath...
And I love this set!!!

Thanks so much Peg and Kris for hosting OPAM...
I don't think know I wouldn't be completing an item a month if it wasn't for this!!!

Forecast for this weekend is rain...rain...and more rain...
75% of New South Wales is predicting floods...
Warragamba Dam in Sydney is about to spill over

We are safe here at the moment this coming weekend so thinking perhaps a Cook Up and a bit of sewing will happen...

Happy Weekend and stay safe...Dzintra

Welcome To My World

Hello, my name is Dzintra Ingrid ... have been known as Ingrid and since our Sea Change I have started to use Dzintra ... pronounced without the D ... (but still known as Ingrid, I know, it's confusing ...)

Welcome to my world ... a journal of our Sea Change ... Mum to three wonderful children ... bringing up a daughter with a disability and seeing life through her eyes ... being a new Nanna ... photos ... inspiring quotes ... taking on a cookery course ... the odd recipe ... and trying to get some stitching done amongst all this ...
