Goodnight Dune

Illustrator Julia Yu makes me recall how dense Frank Herbert's Dune is and how odd David Lynch's film was with her parody of Margaret Wise Brown's Goodnight Moon. (Goodnight Dune via Topless Robot. Thanks for the tip, Kyle.)

A Damn Good Cup Of Coffee

It's been 20 years since David Lynch brought Twin Peaks, Agent Cooper and Laura Palmer to TV and there have been very few shows since that could match it's oddity. I'd say the The X-Files and, currently, Fringe.

To celebrate the milestone, a Twin Peaks 20th anniversary art exhibit is opening on February 12 in Los Angeles. I was alerted to the show on Scott Campbell's blog and his piece, Concentrating On The J's is above. The pieces below are from a preview by Hi-Fructose.

David Lynch's Super Bowl Head

The Super Bowl is today, or so I am told. I'm no football fan but I could be convinced if major filmmakers were allowed to direct the telecast, as Slate V imagines. (Link via FilmDrunk)

Quentin Tarantino — I expected more blood and less football. The animation was good though.
David Lynch — I would so watch that broadcast. People would be soooo angry!
Wes Anderson — I'm surprised they don't hire him. It looks like Olympic profile coverage.
Jean-Luc Godard — Isn't this how they show it in France?
Werner Herzog — Also, surprisingly watchable
