Happy Everything...

Apologies for the photo but it's a dark and dismal day again here - what happened to Spring? Ah well at least torrential rain is a good excuse to leave cutting the lawn for another day!
Just a very quick and simple 'Anytime' card today using the theme of black, white and one other colour, at the Penny Black Saturday Challenge as my starting point.
Materials:
  • Red, black and white card from stash
  • Penny Black stamp
  • Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder
  • Black organza ribbon

Inspirational Play Along...

Something really cool and quite different is happening over at the Pink Elephant today. Instead of our normal Thursday tutorial we are having a 'play along'. One of our DT (Robin Willis) has chosen an amazing plate design, which we hope will act as an inspirational spark for everyone's creativity.

For my card I chose to focus on the diamond pattern and the flower theme of the plate. If you would like to find out more and see what the other members of the DT came up with pop over to the Pink Elephant.

It would be great if you could join in. We would really love to see how the plate inspires other people.

Materials used on this card:
  • DCWV - diamond patterned paper and matching plain paper from Spring Paper Stack
  • Hero Arts sentiment stamp
  • jewelled brads and border peel offs from stash
  • punched leaves
  • large leaf swirl cut on Cricut

Happy Nurse's Day...

I didn't believe Laura last year when she said that it was nurse's day and I got into no end of trouble for not sending her a card. This year I was actually quite organised and bought a stamp set a couple of weeks ago. I didn't actually make the card until yesterday, but at least having a stamp ahead of time gave me a good start.

I used this week's sensational octagonal themed sketch at Stamp with fun as a basis for my card. I had to change the sketch a little as the gems would not have stood out on the spotted card, but I did try quite hard to stick as closely as I could to the sketch. One of the diagonal pieces is embossed and the other is jet black glitter card which is not showing its true beauty in the photo.

The nurse stamp and the little first aid bag are from a fun set by Woodware - love this set there is a doctor too and some cute little sentiments.

My other card today is another for Laura - this time it's one for my mum to give her. The image is from a clip art set by PC Crafter and of course there is lots of pink card and bling.

Hope you like my cards and for all those nurses out there working those killing double shifts thank you for all you do and I hope even if you are working you have a lovely day.
I have one more card to do - I happened to mention on my hospital visit to my Auntie today that Nurse's day was coming up and she asked me to make a card for her to give the nurses on her ward.

Pink Elephant Day...

Gosh it's Monday again - these weeks seem to fly by! This week is our colour themed week at the Pink Elephant and our colours are...

light blue
medium blue
green and white.

A COOL combination!

After much paper tossing, sorting and matching the shades I chose seemed to shout 'men's cards'. This led me into making two cards on a male theme. One has a paper pieced main image of a man's shirt and waistcoat and the other a folded origami shirt.

Hope you like my cards and that you will have time to join in our challenge this week. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.

Thank you so much to great friends who have become followers of my blog. Love having you around.
