Five S Words...

SNOWFLAKES
SPARKLE
SPOTS
STRIPES
SWIRLS

This was the challenge theme at Pollycraft's fortnightly challenge and I really wanted to take Paula up on on this - okay the thought of a free digi image for anyone who included all five in their card might have influenced me slightly!

I'm late posting this morning because I had to wake up, get up and make the card all in my jamas - what a scruff! At one stage I panicked thinking I had forgot the stripes, but no check out the bobble hat!

Another challenge I really didn't want to miss out on was Fab's Big Christmas Card Challenge so I made sure I sneaked in some paper tearing (the snowy background for the cute girl) on my card.

The fabulous background with the swirls, snowflakes and dots (that made it so much easier to complete the challenge) is by Kanban. The image, Cherry Kisses Snowball, is one of the fantastic images that Paula at Tales from Pollycraft gives away each Friday. Wonder what today's treat will be?

My card is also for the challenge of Christmas at Creative Inspirations and at Pile it on where the theme is 3D (the layers of torn snow paper are raised).

Happy Anniversary...

Ahh not two love birds, but two owls madly in love! This is another of the stamps from the Hoot collection by Joanna Sheen. How sweet are they? Sorry about the reflection on the acetate - it's not a monster creeping up on the pair it's my fingers holding the camera!

Quite hard to describe this card in words so maybe I ought to let the pictures tell the story rather than me ramble on for ages.

The owls were coloured with Promarkers and then cut out and attached to acetate which I then fastened behind a heart shaped apperture cut in a brown Papermania scalloped edge square card.

I cut a matching apperture in spare card and attached this to the rear of the apperture so that there would be a neat finish inside.

The background for the owls is one of the sheets from Joanna Sheen's Hoot backing paper pad. I thought it would be something different to have the owls in a clear heart shaped space but with a scene behind them too forming the front of the card.

My card is for the challenge at Stamp with Fun where the theme is clear foil (acetate?) and also for the challenge 'Celebrate' at Creative Card Crew Challenges and the Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge

Halloween's Coming - Halloween's coming...

Witches will be after you! Big black bats and witches cats - ghosts and goblins too!

Oh we used to have such a good time singing that when my kids were little. Now they are all grown up and in pairs (well for the moment anyway). This card is for my daughter Shelley and her boyfriend, Tony. When I bought the set of Halloween clip art from PC Crafter the other day these two cats stood out as being purrrfect to use for their card.

The purple frame, cats and bat were from the set and cut out and decoupaged. The sentiment and names were created in Serif and then printed and embossed.

The sketch is from the challenge at Die Cut Dreams and I've also used their theme of Halloween and the suggested colours of Black, Purple, Orange and Green.

Halloween is also the theme at A Spoon Full of Sugar, Simon Says STamp , Two Red Bananas and at Fun with Shapes,

At My Time to Craft the theme is Purrrfect Pets and I reckon these two would be pretty cool pets to have around and last but not least at Pile it on the theme (as well as combining at least one other challenge) is 3 dimensional.

Fancy Folding...

I absolutely love shutter cards - eversince I received a gorgeous one on my birthday (thank you Max - still treasuring it) I have been fascinated by them. I really thought they would be hard to do, but no they are really easy peasy and just so much fun to decorate.

This is a new baby card I made using one of the Lofty stamps from the Lofty Celebrations set by Joanna Sheen. As well as the main character in the set you get the little teddy, some sentiments and the oh so cute teething ring. All perfect for using on a shutter card as it gives you extra bits to fill the spaces.

As well as the stamps I used punched hearts in three sizes and the 'It's a boy' sentiment was cut on my Cricut machine.

The verse on the middle panel is a gorgeous quote stamp from a set by Cloud Nine design - such amazing words...

'The birth of your baby, a gift from above, will bring JOY to your life when showered with LOVE'.

My card to celebrate the birth of a new baby is for the challenge at Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge and for the challenge of 'folding up' at Daring Card Makers.

Have a great day everyone. Think I'm in the mood for making a Halloween card today, but maybe I should be thinking along the line of flowers and birthdays seeing as my Mum's birthday is only a week away!!

Pink Elephant Day...

Whenever I try to do something a bit different and have pictures at the side of my writing it always comes out all wrong so I'm very sorry if this post ends up all over the place. In my defence I tried and if it works well yeah 'clever me'!

This week at The Pink Elephant we are having a colour challenge and the colours are...

Purple, Orange, Black and White.

To me those colours just screamed Halloween, but I didn't feel like making a card so I went out and bought one of those bargain packs of several bars of chocolate and set about making special Halloween wrappers for them.

I did one with a witchy theme for the girls in the family, Laura and Shelley. Laura will go mad and say 'I want it in pink' I just know, but ah well I will just blame Ella at TPE!

The purple frame with it's spider web pattern is from PC Crafter clip art. Love their stuff. The 'Happy Halloween' sentiment is from a stamp set of tiny messages by Making Memories (I think!).

The witch, who is actually called Mrs Pepperpot (isn't she gorgeous?) is a free digi stamp from Two Scoops Rice Designs. I coloured her with Promarkers to match the clip art and my papers.

The other two chocolate bars are for the girl's boyfriends, James and Tony. On their wrappers a spooky bat makes an appearance from the clipart collection. The 'Boo' sentiment is a stamp from the same set as the 'Happy Halloween'.

All this chocolate around and I haven't had a single piece. My halo is shining brightly!!! Three stone lighter now and still shrinking - yeah!!! Thank you Slimming World!

Hope to see everyone joining in this week at The Pink Elephant. It doesn't have to be a Halloween card and it doesn't have to be just for our challenge. I know I certainly like to combine challenges and enter a few at the same time (see below). I'm sure everyone will come up with some stunning creations with this colour palette and I can't wait to see them.

Halloween seems to be a very popular challenge this week so my little Halloween treats are also for the challenges at...

Fun with Shapes and More - Halloween

Two Red Bananas - Halloween

At Everybody's Art the DT want us to make little gifts and finally at Pile it On the challenge is to go three dimensional.

Sunday Surprise...

Well here it is ... my secret revealed! Joni I wonder if you guessed - well at least your head can stop spinning now.

I decided to do a small blog candy in a back to front way. Instead of announcing it and everyone adding their comments to enter my little gift has been a secret and the winner chosen from all the lovely comments I have had over the last month.

So this month (yes I may do the same thing at the beginning of November) the winner is...

Joyce

Joyce hasn't got a blog of her own, but regularly calls in here and leaves me the most lovely comments which I really appreciate. Thank you so much Joyce. As I already have your address from the forum the collection of Kanban toppers and backgrounds will be on their way to you as soon as possible.

Thank you so much to great friends who have become followers of my blog. Love having you around.
