Penny Black Hedgehog on acetate

The challenge on http://www.mytimetocraftchallenge.blogspot.com/ this week is to use either brads or eyelets. Having played with some gorgeous Penny Black stickers this afternoon with my daughter, Shelley, we both made cards using brads, acetate and glitter card stock.
For this card the cute hedgehog in a present sticker was stuck on to the acetate and then fastened to glitter card using flower shaped brads. This was then matted and layered on to silver and then more glitter card before finally being attached to the square acetate card.
The card was finished with silver border and corner peel offs. The corner peel offs are further embellished with gem stones by Hero Arts.

No Cards - three bookmarks!

The challenge on http://magnoliachallengeblog.blogspot.com/ this week is to be creative with one of the Magnolia range of stamps but you are not allowed to make a card.

I chose to make a bookmark as I will soon be going away on holiday and always spend a lot of my time sitting in the sun with a good book. As the Magnolia books stamp was given to me by friend, Irene, I thought I would make her one at the same time. I also did one for my friend Anne, who is going on holiday with me.

The books stamp is by Magnolia. The owl and 'yoohoo' words are from a clear set of stamps by Hero Arts - I haven't got the Magnolia owl. They were all coloured using water colour crayons. The names and hearts are also stamped using the Hero Arts dot alphabet set.

I decided to laminate the book marks just incase any splashes land on them when we're sat at the side of the pool.

Pockets...

All week I have wanted to do the challenge on http://www.mytimetocraftchallenge.blogspot.com/ which involved making a card with a pocket. I know that somewhere in my stash I have a denim pocket that would have been ideal for this challenge but could I find it ? No, but guess what I bet tomorrow it will suddenly appear from nowhere. Does anyone else have that problem with craft stash?

Anyway at the last minute I had a change of plan and now I am so glad I did because I have had this lovely 'Happy Day Recipe ' stamp for a long time and I think it was just hanging around waiting for Baking Tilda to come along to go with it.

The papers I have used are from Making Memories and are double sided which worked well for the tag and diagonal front pocket. Tilda was painted by my daughter, Shelley, using those gorgeous pearlescent water colour paints they sell very cheaply at 'The Works'. She hadn't really meant for me to use it but as she had left it out - it sort of ended up on my card!!! That will teach her.

Inside the card is a cake stand embellishment that was part of a collection of stickers that my other daughter, Laura, brought me as a present last time she came home from Uni. Again as soon as I saw it I thought of Tilda and her baking tray.

Both daughters are in the good books this week - makes a change!

Thank you so much to great friends who have become followers of my blog. Love having you around.
