Update on the early morning bus journey and sympathy recquired...

You would not believe the time I had this morning!!!  My early bus (5.30 am) did not turn up.
I spent 20 mins in a freezing cold bus shelter trying to stay calm and not think about the fact that the freezing fog was making the whole road look like a scene from 'Twilight'.  I was actually doing very well at keeping calm till a bat - yes a bat flew in to the bus shelter. Now I am a wimp at the best of times but this was just pushing me too far.
For those who read my earlier post - I did shout for John, but he must have still been in bed.
Well that was it I cracked and rang for a taxi, which cost an absolute fortune, but at least I escaped the cold and arrived at work on time.  It's a good thing I love my new job.

Vellum roses...

This is a card I've done for an elderly lady who has just come out of hospital.  She loves pink and vellum so I decided to stamp on to some pink shaded vellum from my stash and then emboss the image using fine white embossing powder.  The image, which is one by Elusive Images,  was stamped several times so that I could cut out sections and decoupage it.
I've also used the pink shaded vellum laid over the top of white card to create the background and done the same thing using the scalloped nestie.
The sketch is from Truly Scrumptious and unfortunately I'm rather late at entering as I believe the challenge ends today, but not to worry it's a great sketch and certainly one I will use again.
My card is also for the challenges at...
Last day at work today and the thought of that might just mean catching the bus at 5.30 this morning a little more bearable.  Then I'm off on holiday for a whole week - SQUEAL - not that I'm excited or anything.  SQUEAL!!!
The first aid course yesterday was brilliant.  I must admit that I was dreading it as the ones I've been on before have been so boring, but the tutor for this one was really down to earth and 'real' about things.
I feel like I could cope with most things that could happen now although I am a little worried about Carol, who I was on the course with.  She said she had enjoyed it so much that she almost felt like pushing someone under a bus on the way home so that she could try out her new skills.  I work with some strange people and I'm not talking about the ones I support either.
Irene and Max don't worry you'll be safe in York I'm not that enthusiastic.  If you do have an accident though I know exactly what to do.  Shout for John.  He was the really clever guy in the DVD who could cope with anything.  Tee hee!
Have a great day everyone and if you do have an accident of any kind don't forget shout for John - he's brilliant.

You Rock...

My second try at this sketch from A Spoonful of Sugar and I'm still not 100% happy with it, but eeeeeeek at least I tried.  My daughter, Shelley, wanted a Valentine card for her boyfriend, Tony, who is a rock music fan so this fit the bill nicely.  They both loved it - infact the term 'Wicked' was thrown around quite a lot so I was pleased with myself.

Materials used...
  • Stamps by Inkadinkado
  • Cuttlebug Embossing folders
  • Heart and corner die by Spellbinders

Have a great day everyone.  I'm on a First Aid course today so that should be fun.  Just wish it didn't involve 3 buses to get there, but ah well needs must.

      Pink Elephant - Challenge 54 - Ribbons...

I really can't believe we are on Challenge 54 at The Pink Elephant.  It seems like it was only a few weeks ago that we were planning our first challenges.  This week our theme is ribbon and we are being sponsored by one of my favourite stamp companies - C. C. Designs at All that Scraps.  I love their images and I love the way you can buy many of them in both stamp and digi format.  On my card I've used Leisel and her Wheelbarrow from the Swiss Pixies digital range.  I've filled the barrow with tiny paper flowers that I've had in my stash for ages, but I think the possibilities for this are endless.
Leisel has been coloured with Promarkers and then matted and layered on to blue card and floral paper from the DCWV Spring Stack.
I used this week's amazing sketch at Sweet Sketch Wednesday for the layout of my card and my card is also for the challenges at ...
Working till 10 tonight and then a really early start for the next two mornings so I may not be visiting everyone's blogs quite as much this week.  Enjoy your Monday everyone and do remember to visit The Pink Elephant to see what the rest of my friends have created.

        Happy Birthday Max...

Yeah Max is 21 (again) - Happy Birthday Max
Hope you have the most wonderful day ever - although I do think next Sunday will be even better - just think of the company you will be in - SQUEAL!!!
As you may have guessed this is the birthday card I made for my great friend Max.  I know she likes easel cards and I hope she loves this one and the Sugar Nellie stamp I've used to create it.  (I won't say anymore about the stamp just incase she's reading this before opening her presents).
The paper is DCWV and was part of the absolutely fabulous DCWV Butterfly pad that Lorraine sent me.  The photo does not show the beauty of this paper/card as it has so much texture as well as glitter.  To add to the glitter I've added gemstones in as many places as possible.  Blow the  'less is more' train of thought it's Max's birthday and the more bling the better.
        Well that's my theory anyway!
As well as being for Max's birthday my card is also for the challenges at...
Happy Valentines Day to everyone and may your day be full of hugs and kisses.

Thank you so much to great friends who have become followers of my blog. Love having you around.
